I love the fact these can be used without an amp though I now use one the majority of time and how comfortable they are.

They function without an amp, and thus it's a true statement. Thanks for your contribution, although you are being a touch pedantic in a way that isn't helpful to OP or anyone else

The OP clearly meant they don’t need a ‘standalone’ or ‘separate’ amplifier. For someone who apparently prides themselves on audio knowledge if you can’t understand that then I don’t want to hear you talk about ‘literacy’

          • @jaejae69: I see both sides of the argument here. I can see that they meant that but they really should stop saying they can use it without an amp as I have seen many new audiophiles be confused by statements like this. When you say "you don't need a dac or amp for this" they think "what's the point of a dac and amp then". If you would like I can send you reddit threads of people being confused about this if I can find ones I have seen in the past. A simple change to "you don't need a dedicated amp and dac for this" helps so much even though it might not seem like it would for more experienced people.

@HaydosK: It’s really not that deep. The OP isn’t personally responsible for the stupidity of others. If someone choose to extrapolate a statement of “this product doesn’t require an amp” into “all amps must be useless then,” they have bigger issues than which headphones to buy.

              • @jaejae69: It happens all the time. That's so unreasonable to say they have bigger issues. It's an inaccurate statement that should be corrected no matter what you say. Not even saying op is wrong for this mistake but how it is defendable.

@jaejae69: Maybe go back and read my initial sentence properly first. It only serves to confuse people who are likely to be looking for an easy entry-level buy.

Most headphones can be used without an amp but that doesn't mean you should if you want the best these headphones can provide.
Anyway this particular headset frequently drops to this price and I believe matches an all time low on Amazon. Edit: it dropped once to $100 with a coupon.
    So pretty good.

the comfiest headphones i've ever owned. I put a mic on mine and use them for gaming.

    • weirdly, I remember someone's review that said the HD 620S (which looks very similar design) was terrible in comfort.

I guess you can't judge just by the looks alone.

      • Nope fairly different. These are wildly comfy. Very low clamp (on my giant head)

        • yeah I found it interesting as well. so comfort can depend a lot model to model even if they look very similar design.

These are great and the sound stage is fantastic.

Works well direct or via Logitech Z623 amp or via the Scarlet 2i2.

The clarity is significantly better when paired with the Scarlet though.

Most comfortable of the headphones I own.

I have the cream version of these and use them plugged into my PS5 controller, so i can still hear what is happening in the house behind me.
They are very comfortable even after hours of use and dont get heavy / have headclamp [unlike the 450BTs which feel like they are trying to crush my skull after a few hours]

don't need it in black but probably will anyway, thanks op :)

  • I thought they were muddy when I plugged them directly to my macbook pro. They definetely sounded better when plugged into a cheap aliexpress amp i got on my desk.
