Boderry have announced they're releasing two new watches in the Landmaster series which was launched last year. (I bought one of the original field watches at launch and rather liked it, so I posted a review here on OzBargain - feel free to check it out.)
The new watches will be visually the same as the original, with one being a GMT and the other a chronograph. Boderry's founder, Gary Hou, announced the launch in a YouTube video where he explains this time around they're going to use real Tritium tubes (instead of just lume-filled) and the GMT will be powered by a Miyota 9075 whereas the chronograph will be sporting a Peacock SL-4601, both automatic mechanical movements.
As for sizing and construction the video says the GMT will be exactly the same as before: 38mm sand blasted titanium case & bracelet, double-dome sapphire crystal, and screw-down crown & caseback with 100m WR. There's no mention of size for the chrono so I'm only assuming it'll be the same 38mm, but it has the same construction, crystal, and crown & caseback. I note, though, that the pushers are not screw-down so that may throw the 100m WR into question; since it's firmly in the field watch category this is probably not going to be an issue anyway.
I have a feeling the GMT is going to be more popular because it makes more sense, and the Miyota 9075 is a known & proven workhorse movement. The chronograph is an interesting proposition but I feel if they squeeze it into a 38mm case it'll be too squashed (although, we have seen smaller before), plus it's hard to find any real information on the Peacock movement. All I can ascertain is it's a clone of the ETA 7705 column-wheel with a day/date complication added on.
Interestingly, they're being released via a Kickstarter campaign. Gary says this is so they can engage with their customers more closely to see how the new features are received. This also means there's going to be the usual pricing tiers for backers depending on when they jump onboard, and I fully expect there will be various unlocks as target goals are reached. The campaign starts in 5 days if you're interested.
Edit: the campaign is live now with Launch Day pricing in effect for now, and all orders at this tier will also receive bonus 2x NATO-style straps and premium leather box. It launched at 10:00am EST (12 midnight AEST) so that suggests the Launch tier will be in effect till midnight tonight. Super Early Bird pricing goes into effect after that, rising by US$20 and losing the bonus straps. IMO, the best value proposition is the chronograph on Ti bracelet, plus they've updated the build to include an exhibition caseback to show off the movement.
