    But its HN

    • +9

Just price match it at JB then.

  • +1

Isnt it 3 gens behind the latest dji mini drone?

    • +12

it is behind, but its also less than half the price of the mini 4 pro. Not everyone needs the latest features.

      • You will know why you need a Mini 4 Pro when you fly these minis. I will speak to you on a Mini 4 Pro deal discussion.

        • +2

          never ending discussion.
I used to own mini 2, but recently upgrade to mavic 3 classic, never look back to mini now.
less noise on a dark days, cloudy days, or near sunset time

you will know you need a higher sensor, when you notice those grains noise on the mini during not enough sunlight times

        • Used to fly "manual" fpvs.. (till typical Aussie nanny state casa banned fpv) what's the difference in generation here?

  • +2

Better at this price for first drone than the Neo..

    • +1

Depends what you after, IMO neo is fun for the predefined modes without the need of controller, and given both drones have no obstacles avoidance, Neo is way more durable for newbie users

my kids really enjoy the drone following them while they run and try to escape

      • Transmission range of the neo is not as good.

      • +1

….drone following them while they run and try to escape

future Olympic sport. Very popular in parts of eastern Europe atm.

    • New to drone market. What is better in this than the Neo?

      • +1

Depends on what you define as "better".

        The Neo is
        * smaller
        * has propeller guards all around
        * arguably more durable
        * needs about 10 seconds from taking it out of the pocket for it to start flying and recording (with the built-in modes)
        * 1 axis gimbal (only up and down)
        * about 13-ish minutes flight time

        The Mini series is
        * bigger
        * does not have propeller guards
        * I think lower pitch noise from the props
        * takes way longer to start recording (need to unfold propeller arms, power up drone + controller start flying)
        * 2-axis gimbal
        * longer flight time (30 minutes?)

I have the Neo as my first drone and quite happy with it so far.

        • Thanks Neo seems more value for me at $100 cheaper

  • No object collision sensor- the review says. Is that something very useful for those who have used both newer and this version?

    • +1

You're doing it wrong if you're anywhere near anything when learning to fly. Especially with these camera drones. Get up high and in a place away from structures, trees and people. I always recommend buying a $20-30 dji clone first to learn the ins and outs of drone flying.

      • +4

        Any links to clones please

        • +4

Yeah what's a good cheapy clone just to play with?

          • @GreyChris: Temu has some

          • +1

@GreyChris: Something like the Jectse Foldable Drone on Amazon. It's about $36 currently.

          • +1

@GreyChris: I replied to someone else saying this "Something like the Jectse Foldable Drone on Amazon. It's about $36 currently."

            • +2

@Ravenousryan: Holy crap. How is that $36 for that tech? Apparently I just bought one… wild!

To be fair that's probably all I really want to do with a drone. Thank you! 🙏

              • @GreyChris: You're welcome :) All the advertised features are all just garbage…the camera will look like it's from 1996 etc…but the drone itself should fly just fine in a park or back yard. Great for dogs too…they love to chase them :D

                • +1

@Ravenousryan: Haha. Yeah I thought they were pretty wild claims. As long as it gets off the ground and works at least once I'll still have a massive smile. Thanks again!

  • Does this follow you around?

  • +5

    With love from Ukraine.

    • When will Ukraine start to retail their drones? They should have been the drone expert by now. And also to financially support themselves.

  • +3

I just flew my first every drone, Mini 4k, no bells and whistles, but I absolutely loved the experience and it serves the purpose for my needs, I want to get into property real estate stuff, it does a phenomenal job 😂 I did not even buy fly more combo, 20 minutes feels like eternity

    • Similar experience, but started of with a Neo. Love it and very enjoyable to fly and have fun and learn.

      • +2

I might buy a new set to have a backup of everything, I think low light performance suffers due to small sensor but why shoot in low light 😂

        • Yep. Agree that if you enjoy flying this drone and especially if you are training for possible future contract work. This is great value, as it comes with the controller too. The Neo does not come with a controller, and any serious would not fly just using auto fly settings or just a phone. The controller is around $165 too. I purchased a second Neo battery which was $59, so good deal for all 3 drone/controller/battery + all cables. If I were not looking at getting an e-bike soon, I could be tempted by this deal lol.

  • Can you use DJI 3 pro controller with this drone?

    • +2

      No

  • +2

Have the fly more kit for this drone. Great first drone. Only thing I'd want is active tracking which this unfortunately doesn't have. Have taken it overseas and flown with no issues. Great little drone which punches well above its (249g) weight.

Nice, got JB to price match then used the $30 off $300 spend Perks code to get a final price of $338.

    • Instore? not sure if the code works when Price matching via online chat.

      • +4

No, did it online. First go to chat and paste link to Harvey Norman sale. Ask for price match. They will create a link for you. Then follow the link and paste in the series of letters/numbers under the barcode that appears under your JB account for the $30 off $300. You copy and paste the code under the barcode which says for instore only. It works for online as well. Took a while to work that out. Let me know if you need clearer instructions.

    • +1

Thanks, just did the same :)

    • +4

A DJI drone for $338. Awesome!
Thanks for sharing. I'm editing the post with that.

    • Second this! I gave them a call, they price matched, applied the coupon, and brought it down to $338. Click & collect was ready in 5 minutes.

      Thanks to both OPs! 🙌
  • Awesome, price matched on live chat and used $30 coupon, $338 click and collect, thanks

  • Excellent deal, especially with the perks!

  • What editing software are you guys using? On Android? I just want something free, easy to use, and still had enough music, titles and fade options.

  • thanks i have a hot neighbor and this should be perfect

    • +1

      You need a quieter one

  • Anyone had any luck to price match and use perks in store. Thinking of using ultimate gc

    • You better try soon. Stores in VIC close in 30 minutes. Harvey Norman sale is today only.

    • You can use them online right

      • +1

Cant use multiple gift cards online. I went to the shop and they let me price match, use perks and ultimate gift cards so total out of pocket is under $300 for this.

This will be an awesome birthday gift for my son.

        • You can exchange ultimate gift cards to JB and use multiple online

          • +1

@Big-Deal: Oh didnt know that. Oh well, I need to pick it up anyway and it was the last in the shop.

  • Haha just picked mine up. What an awesome thing.
I’m gonna need more batteries now.

  • I decided to get one for $338 not a bad deal

  • Is this better than Mavic mini?

  • Where are people using these? In your backyards? Seems can’t use in national parks

    • Brisbane city council has a few places where you can take off from in parks.

Just fly it away from people

    • Roof inspections. Videos for real estate pictures for sale.

      • But you don't do those tasks that often.

    • Using it to document my house build :)

  • Is it better to get the Mini 3 with a better camera for a bit more?

    • +1

Reason to go Mini 3 is if you also want the RC controller with a built-in screen. I got one.

  • I’ve probably been watching too much home security stuff lately… but imagine if we had a drone that could be deployed to track down a burglar the moment a break-in is detected — that would be so cool. I think I might need to take a break…

    • LOL been watching too many Mission Impossible movies? You need a few minutes to take out and prep the drone before taking off. Unless you are living in a massive mansion, if the burglar is inside your house, difficult to fly the drone inside your house unless you are an expert drone pilot. And the noise of the drone makes will alert the burglar.

  • it doesn't seem to be compatible with any fvp goggle?

  • Keep in mind if you're on Android you have to install the dodgy app from the dji website because Google won't allow it on the play store. You can't uninstall it as you have to have it installed to just the drone. Personally i wouldn't touch it if Google won't allow it on their site.

    • +1

      Use the app called Shelter.

      • Thanks for that. I'll check it out. Do you have a link on the play store? Can't find it

        • Seems you need to side load it through f droid or obtanium or get an pixel and graphene os

  • LOL. Price match time frame ended at 6 pm
So, hopefully will buy next time :))

  • +3

Price matched at JB - $368 -$30 perks voucher and paid using 15% off ultimate GC that were purchased some time ago. Total cost $287.

  • Great little drone. Easy to learn to fly. Has a few preset "Quickshots" built in. I paired mine with my old pixel 7 Pro phone and it's working great. I scored mine for $296 after using my Amazon Business $100 off towards the end of June and thus bought as a tax write off for last FY 😎

Battery life is good enough for me as a learner and image quality is perfect for my use currently. At sub $300 I won't lose too much money if I sell it in a year and upgrade to something more substantial/higher quality/more featured.

  • Fingers crossed if HN can sell it for this price then others will at some point as well.
Kicking myself for missing this one as it looks like just what I'm after.
