  are these wet-dry vacuums serviceable to vacuum short carpets too? Mostly hard-wood so really want to get one… but a few small rooms with carpet still.

  It's a fatally flawed product. I have it and even if I empty and clean the dirty-water tank before placing it on the recharging base, I get a never-ending loop of "empty dirty-water tank" and it will fail to self-clean. Many reviewers report the same defect. So, there's an issue with the self-cleaning electronics that make this product rather worthless.
