  • Set the website currency to USD
  • Checkout with PayPal
  • Select your card with no international fees
  • Click "See currency options"
  • Select USD to bill the card in USD instead of AUD
  • Proceed with checkout

I remember paying like around $450 for this when it came out :) My upgrade was a $200 AM5 7700 from Aliexpress.. I also remember seeing AMD Thunderbird 1Ghz CPU's in 2000 for $1250 from ARC Computers in Penrith NSW

      • +3

I'm not HR but (profanity) if Tony can't remember shit then I'm not hiring him.

    • +1

      Loved ARC in Penrith!

Did all my youthful overclocking via them. 300A Celeron running faster than a Pentium II 450mhz.

      Them’s was the days…

      • I had a Celeron 333Mhz and later on upgraded to AMD Duron CPU :)

Don't forget to turn off bitlocker (and grab a copy recovery key) before you update the bios or you won't be able to get back into your system

    • +3

That's how you know it's secure.

    • I must have been lucky because I've never encountered that issue.

    • A BIOS update won't wipe the TPM however this is good advice for when it comes to replacing the CPU.

    • As an IT tech who flashes bioses 10x per day, this has never happened to me once. Changing some other bios settings maybe, such as toggling virtualisation on or off.

      • Interesting. My system specifically warned me about bitlocker and prompted a reset of the fTPM once the bios was updated, and again when the new cpu got added. I had to reset all my login creds like pin and fingerprint scanner, as well as turn virtualization back on in the bios settings. Are you in a corp environment with like Dells and Lenovos? Or a repair shop seeing a bunch of different hardware?

        • +1

Corporate with only Dells. Their bios tool (just from their website) might do all the work automatically as it does warn that if you don't suspend bitlocker that might happen. Maybe the other vendors bios installers don't do all the same things. Only time I've actually got bitlocker'd is swapping a disk drive to a different PC.

          • @wetsandwich: Yeah I think it must do all that stuff for you. Which makes sense in a enterprise environment where you want everything as seamless as possible, otherwise every time it happens you'd generate a bunch of support calls and no-one wants that.

Bought this from the previous deal. Literally just finished installing it, appears to be legit. Going to run some benchmarks.

    • 2nding - installed and working great!

    • Received mine today, no box, just the tray (says AM5 on the tray lol) wrapped in bubble wrap, yolo!

    • Bought one from previous deal, OC straight away, sitting at 4.75GHz nicely.

    • I've installed new CPUs (with pre-applied paste) into a new system but never replaced one before. Quite a cleanup job (paste and dust) but my new electric air duster came in handy.

      • Just dont be tempted to use the blower to whizz the fans around as fast as they go :) (bad for the bearings)

  • $2.44 shipping. What a rip. ;P

    • Sadly it's not Choice. Still the last 4 I've ordered have arrived in 2 weeks.

      • Was just kidding. Bought one for my mate's build

  • Subtotal US $63.93
    Tax US $10.69

    How's this 10%? Bloody scammers..

    • +1

Known issue where they calculate on the full price and not sale prices. Only advice I can provide is doing an online tip off with the ATO

      • I was looking at some AliEx orders earlier, under feedback they are listed with another price which I assume is full price. Higher than what the listed price before discounts is anyway. GST still not 10% of that though.

I will continue my search of the price that matches, maybe one day… maybe.

        • +1

Buy AU warehouse products and you won't get charged GST at all! Or over $1000 AU.

  • +1

Any recommended mobos on AliExpress to pair with this cpu?

  • +3

If you are on AM4, value doesn't get better than this.

    • 5700x3d if that ever comes up again :D

  • +7

    Any 5700X3D deals D;

    • +2

I worry that ship has sailed. It remains the (almost) best chip for an otherwise dead platform, so demand seems to outweigh supply.

I was fortunate enough to get one at around $230 and I feel for you guys that missed that era. Fingers crossed.

      • I have regrets. I tried to HODL for too long. And I’m still on 3600

        • +1

5700x is a good jump. I did 3700 to 5700 and it was really noticeable

          • @reevo36: Likewise.

Some will tell you that the benchmarks suggest the naked eye will struggle to pick the difference, but my 3500X to 5700X made everything feel snappier, not just FPS…

            • @UncleRico: I've gone from a 2200G with 8GB ram (6GB available) to 5700X with 32GB. Noticeable difference for desktop use.
Didn't do before and after comparisons for gaming but I'm sure the new configuration (despite sourcing a used GTX 1060) will be significantly more powerful.

  • +1

Received $5.27 cashback from TC, although this is not an affiliated product.

  • +1

Worth upgrading from 5600? I've gone through denial, anger, bargaining, depression and now acceptance that the 5700x3d deals I foolishly thought would last forever last year are truly gone. :(

    • +1

It's not a major boost in fps. For games that can take advantage of more core, threads you may only see 5% boost give or take.

      • Thanks for the reply!

    • +3

Yup I've come to terms that I'll need to go to AM5 from my 5600X… My builds an iTX so it's even more depressing seeing the prices of AM5 itx boards loll… I thought my X570 was expensive at $300 … Now you can't even get mid range iTX at those prices…

      • +1

You could go for a Maxsun ITX from AliExpress, they're meant to be ok.

        • +1

will definitely check them out thanks 🙂

      • Yep. Never mind if you ever want a decent mid-tier or better GPU.

Fortunately, the AM4 was the bang for buck champ of a generation and will happily kick on for some time yet, unless you’re chasing every last FPS on a 1440p+ gaming system…

    • Save up your money and try and move to the AM5 platform :) .. stick with the 5600 until you do.. a Ryzen 7500F/7600/7700 all around $200 on aliexpress sales is around the same performance as a 5700X3D

    • -2

No. Even the x3D is not a real upgrade, it's only in specific scenarios.

Am5 will be your next build.

      • +2

Gaming is a very popular use case though and X3D most certainly is a big upgrade there.

        • -3

          It's not.

It's 30% increase in Microsoft flight Sim.
          20% in the 0.1% in CS2, a game has 140 fps at 0.1% on the 5600 anyways.
It's < 5% increase in shadow of the tomb raider.
None at all in most games compared to 5600.

The x3D chip is very title dependent, to the point that very specific titles are better than the 7xxx. However, the selection is slim. If you play alot of Sims games, then it's good. For AAA, like cyberpunk, it's no different to a 5700 (and by extension, 5600).

          • +1

@Wonderfool: Where are those numbers from? What GPU? Most benchmarks I've seen show a good gap even over the 5800X.

            https://www.tomshardware.com/pc-components/cpus/amd-ryzen-7-…

Now I acknowledge 1080p with a 4090 is not realistic, but the 1440p figures show fairly big differences, especially with things like DLSS on.

Side note, MMOs benefit massively as they can be CPU-heavy with large numbers of players, especially in busy areas. Emulation is another area that appreciates the vcache.

I'm not suggesting these are good value at current pricing, however. At low 200s they were silly though.

            • @Erwark: I won't lie. I don't remember the sources anymore. I simply kept up with hardware launches from YouTube and r/hardware over the years. Now that I look at it, even cyber punk can take advantage of it.

For me though, Minecraft still isn't one of those games though, unfortunately.

I agree, it is good value at $230.

  • +5

Am I missing something? Showing up as $105.30USD for me and when going to checkout goes up to $117.57 USD

    • +3

      Agree, that's what I see

  • +2

Price shows US $97.30 for me.

    • Must've ran out, I purchased for OP listed price at $76.20

  • +1

Looks like the promotional price has ended 😓😓 Hopefully it comes back later.

    • I'm so sad had 5 in the cart and it ended….

    • 9 back in stock….be quick

  • +1

I guess Ive already missed it, but it doesnt matter because I just paid $30 more for the 5600x off Aliexpress last week :/

  • I have a 3700x. Doesn’t sound like I’ll gain much if I don’t play games?

    • +1

At 1080p you're probably getting a 10-18% boost. Less so for 1440p and above

      • Probably not worth upgrading for general computing for a few more years then haha.

    • The did that upgrade, 💯 worth it and a noticeable improvement in everyday usage and games. At this price, bargain

  • +4

Back in stock (not for long… 9 left.) Managed to order one

  • -1

    Nearly $17 GST? Shouldn't it be $10 to $11?

    • They counted GST before discount. Yes it's weird I know, feel free to dob them in and let me know how it goes.

      • This isn’t weird, it’s a scam, plain and simple. Aliexpress has been doing this for ages, despite countless complaints to the ATO. They’re probably making millions off Australian customers every year with this little “trick.” Hard to believe it’s not intentional.

    • If the AliExpress platform offers a discount, GST is still calculated on the seller's listed price.

I think the listed price before the AliExpress promotion was around $98 USD + shipping.

  • Managed to get it at $116.50 after conversion from my bank via VISA.

  • Just got around to installing my 5700x from a couple of deals ago. The spring loaded heatsink screws were a PITA to get back on but the motherboard survived and the CPU works fine so far.

    • -1

You mean the spring loaded heating screws that came with your after market heatsink and fan?

This item is for the GPU only and doesn’t include any heatsink, fan or PITA screws…

      • I think we're all aware (if we looked at the deal) that we'll be reusing the heatsink that we installed back when we built our PC. In my case is was a stock CPU cooler that came with a Ryzen 2200G.

  • Showing $150.01 for me, is the promotion done?

  • i got mine from previous deal only took 11 days for delivery , was package in bubble wraps and foam stuff. All in good condition and works well, 30% improvement over my ryzen 3600

  • +1

AliExpress has upped their logistics game to an insane level. Getting stuff in like 10 days that used to take from 3-6 weeks

    • +1

Yep, I often get my orders within a week, when I buy Choice or Bundle Deals items.

  • I ordered one but it never arrived but Ali-express is saying it did so wont refund. I am having terrible luck with CPU ordered one 2 months ago for my birthday from Mwave that went under, now this one not arriving. I should have just bought from a brick and mortar shop.

    • You can totally fight this as they have no proof that you received it. Take it up with PayPal if you paid through that and they will be on your side.

      • Thanks for the advice, I did pay with paypal and have started the process through them now as well and hopefully see how I go.

        • Does the tracking state that it's been delivered or is it still in transit? I have had a few items from Aliexpress that took 3 months for it to arrive. It all depends on which part of China it's coming from, yes most of the stuff is all from Shenzhen but you'll get a few odd items that are in the west side of China and those can take ages to get to us. Best of luck with it though.

          • -1

@bogak: Phone app said it was delivered yesterday, PC this morning said it was still in transit but when I went through the history on PC it said it was delivered today. A few hours later when I checked on PC again it had changed from in transit to it got delivered this morning. Atm because I did a chargeback through Paypal it says the order is frozen and I can't check the history anymore.

            • @Welsh003: Neighbour just contacted me saying they found it hidden in one of their pot plants, so i have cancelled the paypal dispute.

              • @Welsh003: haha what the? why was it in you neighbors instead of yours.

                • @bogak: I have no idea why it was even in a pot plant when it would have easily fit in my locked letterbox.
