I would have thought masticating and talking on your phone each made the other difficult. Certainly it was said that a certain US president was so dumb he couldn't walk and chew gum at the same time, so I'm sure that a lot of people would have trouble doing both those and talking on their phone too. I could imagine that chewing gum, talking on the phone and an unexpected event while driving could create a need for the assistance of someone who knew the Heimlich manouvre.
