Terms & Conditions

1. The Offer

12 weeks free, with the value of your free weeks based on your level of cover when payment is made. How it works:
In most cases, your 6 weeks free will be applied 28 days after you join, extending the date you’re “paid to”. The remaining 6 weeks are applied once you’ve held eligible cover for 14 months, extending the date that billing cycle is “paid to”.
If your weeks free period ends before your next direct debit date, we may take a smaller-than-usual payment to make up the difference.
If you join through a Bupa consultant and pay yearly, your first payment will be reduced by the value of 6 weeks. The remaining 6 weeks are applied once you’ve held eligible cover for 14 months. This means your third yearly payment will be reduced by the value of 6 weeks.

The 2 and 6-month waiting periods waived on extras: applied at policy join date.

2. Eligible Customer

You are an Eligible Customer if you:

have not held domestic Bupa health insurance within the last 12 months of your join date;
are an Australian resident over the age of 18;
take out an Eligible Bupa Health Insurance Policy (see Section 3) between 12:00am AEST on 12/06/2025 and 11:59pm AEST on 31/07/2025 and commence your policy by 31/08/2025;
pay your health insurance premiums by direct debit ongoing to receive the Offer;
provide a valid email address; and
use promo code 12WEEKSFREE if joining online.

3. Eligible Bupa Health Insurance Policy

An Eligible Health Insurance Policy is a combined Domestic Hospital and Extras product or packaged product issued by Bupa but excludes any hospital product when combined with Extras Saver cover.

4. General

Yearly limits, other waiting periods, benefit claiming restrictions, policy and fund rules apply.
The Offer is not available with any other Bupa promotional join offer provided by Bupa.
If you do not satisfy these terms and conditions before becoming entitled to the Offer then Bupa may elect, acting reasonably, not to award you with the Offer. If Bupa discovers that you did not satisfy any of these terms and conditions after the Offer has been awarded, then Bupa may decide, acting reasonably, to remove the Offer.
Bupa reserves the right to end, change or extend this Offer at any time.

  • Possible to churn and get advantage of similar offer from other providers ?

  • as usual, no love for the existing 15+ years member.

      Same here and decided to switch this year to Medibank with their offer. Realised loyalty is useless and best to keep switching

    • Just ring Bupa and say you're switching to "x" provider due to promo and see if they can match.

      Currently with Bupa but have churned away from them twice in the past and came back for whatever promo they had at the time. Last year I actually signed up to Medibank for their promo and rang Bupa to get them to not bill me for another month. They ended up matching the promo and am currently in the free month now after the first free month when I made the call.

      Will probably look around to churn next month again if Bupa don't match.

      As usual, stupidity for staying so long.

    • The times of rewarding loyalty are long gone. Churning is rewarded now

      Sounds more like a 15 year sucker

    @ Bupa

    They are very 'sorry' apparently…

    Bupa has admitted to engaging in misleading or deceptive conduct and making false or misleading representations by advising members they were not entitled to private health insurance benefits when they were.

  • Plus 6 weeks free after 14 months, something to look forward to…sort of like having insurance in case no other free 6 week deals pop up elsewhere in the next 14 months.

    but you could just churn back to them and get another 6 weeks anyway, why stick around for 14 month

      You are an Eligible Customer if you:

      have not held domestic Bupa health insurance within the last 12 months of your join date

      • wait till 12month + 1 day then, not hard. Better than paying premium for 14 month.

    I wonder how long till they offer this plus woolworth rewards.

    • Unlikely, because the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing is cracking down on providers breaching the 12% annual discount cap. See Health insurer promotion frenzy draws federal government scrutiny. It wouldn't surprise me if Bupa is found to be at the centre of this crackdown.

      Further, by its own admission, Bupa is a bad company (as pointed out above):

      Bupa has admitted to engaging in misleading or deceptive conduct and making false or misleading representations by advising members they were not entitled to private health insurance benefits when they were.

      There's no point in holding Bupa health insurance if the insurer is going to commit fraud against you when you claim.

      As an experienced health insurance churner, I would strongly advise against Bupa.

      • All insurers appear to have similar ethics.

        • +1

          Perhaps. Bupa's conduct, however, was so bad that it required the ACCC to take action against it.

          I'd be embarrassed to work for such a company. I hope its staff consider their options.

    Does Bupa reset their limit every 1/7/25?
