JB have the iPhone 16e on sale for $887 ($100 off their normal price). Cheaper than the current Telstra deal but more expensive than Costco but available to all. Only the 128gb variant on special so make sure you can get by with that amount of storage.

They also have the regular 16 for $1247 which is a $150 discount. Of course iPhone 17 coming out in September so might be worth waiting.

Google Pixel 9a 128GB $697

If you don’t want the Pixel 9 Pro XL which is half price @ JB and don’t want to wait for the regular 9 Pro to go on sale the 9a is $150 off for the 128gb variant at $697. The 256gb model shows a discount of only $50, at $847, but is actually $152 lower than the google store.

    iPhone 16 ~$866 from JB, $767 if the first month is refunded.

    Brighter screen, extra ultrawide camera, has magsafe and cheaper.

      Requires signing a contract and credit check. Plus porting etc. Not for everyone but certainly an option for some.

        So once you port into that one, can you port out to another telco straightaway to avoid any further payments? Like, you only pay the $99 which would have already been paid and then $765 cancellation?

        Also I bought 2 other phones couple months ago with my Telstra id and cancelled both by calling jb hifi. Am I banned now or can I get another one?

          I believe you have to cancel the service not port out, so you
          1) get cheap prepaid SIM and register a new number
          2) port the new number in for the telstra deal, sign up for 24 months
          3) cancel the service, pay the cancellation fee
          4) pop in your original SIM
