Reviews say they don't charge well under sun.
    Also
One of the issues I see with this design is that you need to put it under the sun, this will cause the battery to heat up and malfunction/die fast.

The solar panel is a gimmick ;)

Add a $1 small panel to back of device, add $20 to retail price …

Yeah, it's about a 1.5W panel at best. Probably less output than that if using low quality solar cells.

Ignoring that leaving your power bank in the sun to heat up is a terrible idea for cell longevity, it will take a very very long time to charge.

Assuming it has reasonable efficiency and voltage regulation (it prob does not) it would take about 10 days to fully charge the power bank. And that is assuming 8 hours of full sunlight a day, so you will need to keep moving it to face into the sun…

    • It is designed for Melbourne and Tassie….no sun no over heating problem :-)

  • I'd like something that has higher output such as for a dell work laptop. Any recommendations from fellow OzBargainers?

  • Aldi still has some of the Bauhn version kicking around for $30. Doesn't have the cables though. https://www.aldi.com.au/product/bauhn-solar-powerbank-000000…

  • Not a complaint about this specific unit but just a life tip on these:

A relative had a similar solar power bank. Left it on his dashboard to charge.

Powerbank caught fire, burnt through the dash destroying the car.

    • Yeah I'm not really confident with leaving a power bank in the sun. Indirect sunlight is the only way I would charge these or with good ventilation/cooling.

      • Never buy ANY solar devices that don't have the panel seperate.

Solar lights with the panel n battery integrated last 2 years tops.

The seperate panel types we have are now 8yrs old and still good as new.
