PSA for Existing Globird Customers: Your Post-1/7 Rates Are Probably Higher than The Advertised Rate

Out of a sample population of 2 (in different areas) Globird has increased the rates to both accounts above and beyond what they are quoting new customers/ on the energy made easy site for the same areas. Call them and they will happily reduce your rates down to the advertised rate - effective in 7 days' time.

    thanks…

but its sort of irrelevant to me as Globird no longer appears in the recommendation from Compare GOV website anyway.

These are the new rates for me (after the pay early discount):

    Daily Charge ($/Day) = $1.09725
    Peak Usage ($/kWh) = $0.41696
    Off-peak Usage ($/kWh) = $0.18497
    Solar/Generation Feed in (4pm-9pm) ($/kWh) = $0.03000
    Solar/Generation Feed in (9pm-10am, 2pm-4pm) ($/kWh) = $0.00100
    Solar/Generation Feed in (10am-2pm) ($/kWh) = $0.00000

rates are different depending on where you live and whether you are on a single-rate or time-of-use tariff - so not really a useful comparison for others on this site unless they are in the same network area and on the same tariff type as you

for us, at the advertised rates, they are still the cheapest according to the government site (and we are not in a habit of switching every few months for sign on bonus)

      • i think you missed the point of my comment…

i was merely giving you additional sample to your data.

this is with jemena in nothern melbourne btw.

I can't see how that is relevant to what I was saying was for both accounts that I have information for, they have increased their rates more than the advertised rates have been increased - ie the focus is not at the rates in $ terms but how they compare to the advertised rates.

@Love a bargain: you do what you want to do… i think you have more of an issue with your ego instead of having a healthy discussion.

@meong: I can see that you still don't get what I was saying. Each data point is the comparison of two sets of rates for the same premises. What you have provided is only one side of that comparison (and therefore not a complete data point). Trying to explain what what I was doing and why your data dump does not add to that analysis has nothing to do with ego and is in fact part of a healthy discussion.

              • @Love a bargain: like i said, do you what you want to do to fulfil your ego

FYI, Globird released new rates on 22/7 that are comparable. Am trying to call and get the rates matched since you can't do this online.

        Thank you for the heads-up.

I am with Globird. In the last few times, I found that if I switched plan in the middle of a cycle, the whole cycle went by the new price - which could mean some backdated days as well. So for example, if I do nothing, the informed 1st Aug 2025 price rise come into effect (very high) on 1st Aug. But let's say, I switch to this new plan released on the 22/7 now. Since my current cycle began on 15th July for 28 days, I will pay this new plan's rates back-dated to 15th July.

So depending on your circumstances, it pays to work out if you are better off to see the new cycle come in before you switch. That was just my experience, not sure what others encountered.

You can use the email/chat support and they will get back to you within a day.

Even if you call, you get 24 hours before the quote gets sent to you anyway.

Once you receive the email, you just click the Accept Quote and that's it. It's live instantly on your account.

In my area GLOSAVE is not as cheap as BOOST plan. So check what it's showing on the website and ask for that plan name.

Thanks. I had simply picked the top one - but your comment made me check. Chances were it would be correct since I fed it my bill, but still, good that I verified.

I actually used chat to say I want to switch to a newly released plan, but was told these plans that dropped are promotional offers for new customers, and he would check to see if there is any flexibility.

Will see what they come back with. But perhaps still best to ring. I have never had an instance where I rang in the past where they forbade me to switch to new plans.

        • Thanks for the tips about emailing support. It's annoying that they keep increasing my rates.
