Sturdy Queen Size Bed Frame

Recently saw the sleeping duck promotion for some bed bases sadly the Queen size is sold out.

Part of me wants to try the king size bed base with my queen size mattress but I have a feeling that won't work but maybe it will?

Anyways has anyone seen any good strong reliable sturdy queen size bed frames or bases.

Don't care about aesthetics just want something solid and sturdy that won't break under my heavy thick ginormous fat ass from eating all these kfc and menulog deals haha lol.

I guess budget wise trying to aim under $250 but as we all know on ozbargain the cheaper the better.

So what has everyone seen lately in terms of bargains in this category.

Just to clarify I already have the queen size mattress I just need a base or frame to put it on.

Thank you.

  • Try Sleep Republic. Have one, it is strong, and very easy to assemble. Might be out of your price range though.

    • I'll have a look at Sleep Republic but yeah not really trying to pay too much for this.

I do want something strong and solid either something like below bed base posted or a full wooden frame like the one I have but is very old and might be a bit antique.

But thank you for the great comment.

Queen size bed base looks to be about $509 not bad but hopefully it goes on sale and the price is a bit better but this is the kind of bed base I would go for.

  • Under $250 you should look at ensemble bases. Sometimes they are that cheap, And they should have non-flexible slats. Why non-flexible slats? Because I've made over 15 thousand mattresses, and trust me, flexible slats are the biggest back/mattress killer out there.

But basically, for a $250 target, call around some smaller independent mattress stores. Ask for an australian made queen size ensemble (that is pre-built, very important). This will usually have solid pine slats which are really what you need. You could spend 4 times as much and get a worse result buying online.

Here is an examaple of this exact thing. This place is pretty cheap year round, there's probably places like it near you selling similar. https://www.bedsandbeyond.com.au/product/fabric-bed-base/

That covers most of it, here's a reddit post going in to more detail.

    • Thanks I didn't know what these were called but this is one of the kind of bed bases I am looking for so thank you very much.

      Great reply.

    • I've been looking for a new bed frame because the current one has caused some sag in my mattress in the middle.

I have a pretty wide budget because I have a bad back so willing to spend as necessary for better support. That being said we are on ozbargain so value for money is always desirable. What would you recommend for a base for people who are just looking for the best or great value?

  • If you don't have a headboard, to what do you attatch the handcuffs?

    • +1

      Hooks on the walls obviously

  • @AlienC Can we please get a follow on which Make brand model bed base did you get in the end?

    • None the mattress is still sitting downstairs with no bed base.

I sleep on another mattress with unknown but strong fairly old wooden and metal chain bed base.

I am sleeping on a koala mattress right now and so far so good fairly unnoticeable to be honest but it doesn't sag and is quite nice firmness wise so i give it a thumbs up.

Yeah still on the hunt for the bed base but honestly I forgot about this endeavour and have gotten sidetracked by life and other stuff that i totally forgot about this so thanks for reminding me I should really try find a nice queensize bed base for downstairs.
