If you're hot for trams and you're also in Ballarat, visit the Tramway Museum in Wendouree too!

    • +5

Why not do the circuit? Once you've been to the Ballarat museum, you can drive about an hour north and check out the one in Bendigo. Then take the scenic route back to Melbourne with a stop at the Tramway Heritage Centre in Wallan.

You can pay with card for your admission. Don’t be a fool like me and go out of your way to get gold coins.

    Great for kids too

Never knew Melbourne had a tram museum lol, I need to explore my own city more. I always wondered if we did, considering places like Tokyo have their train museum and London has a TFL museum. I’ll add it to the list, thanks OP!

It's not particularly fancy but Newport Railway Museum is well worth a look, great collection of steam trains and carriages.

    • me either, i knew about the train related ones, and i knew about the Bendigo tram museum, but i didn't realise there was a Melbourne Tram Museum

Moorabbin aviation museum and Point Cook aviation museum are amazing. There is talk of point cook closing so visit while you can.

Is this always cold coin donation entry?

  • Very fun. When I was there they put the panto of the Z class they had up on the wire so you could ring the bell (as far as I'm aware all the trams they have here are in working order). Achievement unlocked. Fun for the whole family.

  • Sheldon liked this

  • Is it going to very crowded?

      Doubt it.

    • It costs money so that eliminates the riff raff

  • Looks like nobody is getting into this museum as REAL gold coins cost a fortune.
