It’s been a hot minute since we’ve had a knife deal but ikea is clearing out their top of the range Damascus steel knives which are well reviewed.
Yes they’re not a Japanese brand but the specs are pretty impressive. Yes these are better than Baccarat

Great knife. In Adelaide (and probably a similar lot of changes for other states in train,)
1/You have to order off the touch screen, get a QR coded printout,
2/Take the printout to the cashier,
3/Pay, then you are given a printout order number,
4/Wait for the item to become available from a collection point near the exit of the store.
So quite involved and a huge potential for confusion along the way.
Not a bargain if you value your soul. Ikea is the epitome of distopian society. The cashier literally tore up to refuse cash payment. Never again. Verification by NPC down guess votes are welcomed.
$19 for a chefs knife in VG10 is a great deal. Shame about the bolster; but it'll be a long time before it gets in the way of sharpening.
Went to the store tonight. Didn't find any. Was told by the staff it's sold out. Apparently someone bought a lot of them yesterday.
Probably used the member deal and bought them for the whole family. Pity
