Setting overseas websites to AUD or letting PayPal do the currency conversion results in an inflated rate. To get the correct rate you need a card without international fees and do the following:

  • Set the website currency to USD
  • Checkout with PayPal
  • Select your card with no international fees
  • Click "See currency options"
  • Select USD to bill the card in USD instead of AUD
  • Proceed with checkout

Now you'll get the correct MasterCard or [VISA]

you're really going to die on that hill aren't you?!

      • +1

the $300 USD Hill to be precise, not AUD.

    • A day may come when the courage of marshmallow fails, when the 7800X3D reaches AUD $300, and break all previous Clear deals records, but it is not this day!

An hour of Clear and shattered marshmallow, when the price of 7800X3D comes crashing down, but it is not this day!

  • Do the new X3D chips past 5000 gen use more power and have lower overall base/boost clocks etc still?

    • Less power better clocks.
At -30 pbo on my 7800x3d i think i see max 88w with an allcore 4.95ghz. Single core max boost is 5.05ghz

      • ty

        • 9800X3D here, with -20 PBO I can hit a stable 5,315Mhz on all cores sustained, using around 115-120w. In games it sits around 60-80w depending on the game. There's also an ECO mode in my bios which limits it to 65w. Obviously it takes a performance hit but not as much as you'd expect. My temps with a dual tower air cooler sit around 80c at max load, (going up to around 90c in summer on a hot day). While gaming it's around 60c

  • Can i trust Aliexpress? It sounds not a legit place to buy a CPU

    • -5

I wouldn't, not on something of this value

This particular seller is reputable(generally any reseller with over 1000+ sold is). But the main thing to look out for is that they are a certified brands and committed genuine items reseller.

If you are concerned after you received it you have this assurance:
      Free returns within 90 days
Not satisfied with your order? Send it back within 90 days after order was placed. The first return on each order is free (up to 5 times per month).

I have bought from them recently, delivered within 2.5 weeks and has no issues at all.
Came only in a minimal packaging (without the AMD box).
Built my new AM5 system and can confirm it is genuine and performs as expected.

I've had a couple of issues with much smaller value items and even after providing proof (video/photo) they still sided with the seller.

This would never happen on eBay as a buyer.

Having said that, this particular seller, for this CPU may well be one of the honest legit sellers, personally, I wouldn't risk it myself. Everyone's MMV on risk to savings.

        • +9

funny as I've had the opposite.

have had bad incident w ebay with a big order and no refund for that recently.

just both things can be true

        • +1

Within Australia, I had a bad experience recently where a DoorDasher didn't deliver my purchase from Chemist Warehouse.
Asked for photo proof that these were delivered but DoorDash ignored/disregard my request.
          Lost about $50.

Don't have any issues with them delivering food though.

          • +1

@ultra64: Yeah, my first ever DoorDash Order got stolen by my driver, luckily i had my food refunded but it goes to show experiences varies for everyone. I bought this CPU, i have had absolutely zero issues, they're pretty reputable.

      • Same. Bought one from the last time this was on sale, came in a couple of weeks (with same minimal packaging), works perfectly.

      • Has anyone actually had good luck with AliExpress returns? Especially recently. Promising that you can send it back and get your money is not the same as actually making good on that promise. Genuinely want to hear experience. Especially with more expensive orders.

    • I got one from the last deal, and I can say its a legit deal.

      • is x3D worth getting if not pairing it with a high end GPU e.g. 5070/5080/5090?

unfortunately right now GPU prices is just too expensive and way over MSRP..

        • depends what games you're playing at the end of the day, i'm still rocking my 3070ti at the moment, i don't need to upgrade my gpu as of right now plus it isn't just worth it.

i play a lot of retail wow, and it's really cpu dependent so i went for the 7800x3d

        • even 7700 or 7600 is fine pairing with 4090.

In doubt, use Paypal it. That said, I've bought refurbished Xeon chips with no issues.

But there's reports of counterfeit ryzen ciruclating the market (Der8auer has reported this) where they've glued other ryzen lids chips without any silicone. Don't think this affected Aliexpress, but reports were from dodgy websites and reports from the Chinese community.

    • I bought 2 Ryzen 7 5700X from two different Aliexpress shops for $130 each, about half price compare to local shops.
Both comes in a small padded mail envelop, no used marks, runs fine and no problem what so ever.

Just make sure the ali shop has enough legit feedbacks and order history you'll be alright.

    • Think of it like ebay, there are legit sellers and there are dodgy ones. Pick someone with good reputation and you'll be fine.

The only time I've ever had to warranty something on aliexpress, it was a piece of cake. The good thing about CPUs though is that they rarely have issues (although there are some reports of problems with the GPU part of some of their 7 series, but if you're buying this chip you're getting a dedicated GPU anyway).

    • I thought the same, but ended up buying it, and don't regret it. It's legit.

    • As with any marketplace, it depends on the seller. Many with thousand buyers and feedback "can" be reliable.
Personally, I've had good experience with them. Even got a free CPU (5700X3D) due to "30-day guaranteed fast shipping or your money back".

    • Have bought 4 CPU's from them over the last 3 years. Never had an issue. Have kept my eyes open to spot reputable sellers with good volume sold and reviews..
      Never had a problem..

And in other cases where I've had trouble. Aliexpress has almost always sided with me. And on a couple of occasions just asked me to keep the item..

I am writing this comment from my AliEx CometCrash 7800X3D.

  • PayPal have stopped you being able to set default no currency conversion have they? I bought one thing from AliExpress set to USD recently and then PayPal decided to auto convert at a shit rate to AUD for my no fee card…. Previously I had my card set to always pay in the currency the website was charging

    • Unfortunate if so :( Paypal rate always so bad compared to bank.

    • Yeah, you still need to pick the currency you want to pay in during the PayPal checkout.

      • So you have to select the currency to pay at every checkout or PayPal f**** you in the ass on conversion rate EVERY time you use it now?

        • To be honest, I can't even remember if there was ever a default setting as I always check at the checkout screen.

        • +1

Yes you need to choose your currency at every checkout. It will default to AUD with a terrible rate.

stock now available at US $262.11

  • I’ve been keeping an eye on this listing for a few weeks now, and this seems to be its regular price at this store now. However, the price tends to go up at certain times of the day — usually you can get it at this price from late evening to early morning in our time zone.

Might want to just keep one of these posts active, as someone will just repost it again in a few days, the price will change and will be reported as price change, seems to be the trend.

    • I had reported the last deal to be updated. Mods said to post a new deal since the discount was more significant.

      • any 7700 $200 deal coming?

        • All we can do is keep checking the listings.

        • I'm watching too …got 4 stores saved as fav
It went as low as $256, but now going up again

  • I read Ali was on the decline but purchased anyway. I only received 5 of 6 goods and now they want an "unboxing video". Ali is finished.
    BUYER BEWARE

    • Suspect due to abused many ozb style returns within 90 days, not making money.
