  • great price - have you had them before? I assume the higher ABV gives these a bit more bite than -196, Hard Rated etc,

    • +3

I've tried the lemon and, yes, they do have a bit of a kick. Very tasty and a bargain for $10.80.

      • thank you for the reply!

  • good deal thanks mate

  • +2

Sigh of course none at my local..

  • Nice find.
    Ordered.
    Hopefully it tastes good.

    • Horrible. But made a great marinade for chicken.

      • +1

        Thanks, yeap agree.
Tried it and it was abit bland tbh.

  • +1

    "4x350ml" should be in title.

  • Not at my local but nice find

  • Mango any good?

    • +2

10% off happened automatically for me after I placed the order - YMMV!

  • -8

Just promise me you boys will pronounce it 'Monster', and not Mon-Suu-Taa as I've heard it called.

    • +2

No, Mon-Su-Taa would be technically correct. The diacritic over the A denotes a long vowel in Romanized Japanese.

      • +3

Take note that the "u" sound in characters such as Su and fu are often spoken with less stress, sometimes even silent. So in this example, monsutaa would be phonetically said as monstaa. So hustlebwnz is somewhat correct.

        • +1

For sure. All kinda irrelevant anyway I suppose, it’s just a made up brand to cash in on a trend

      • -3

No, it wouldn't be technically correct. As the other dude pointed out, you don't pronounce the U. But also, it's literally supposed to be Monster. It's how you would pronounce it if you fed it through katakana. No idea why satly losers are downvoting that lol.

        • +2

Do you pronounce Toyota the same as the Japanese do? If not then there's the reason for the down votes.

          • @Spendmore: I do, but I lived in Japan for years and speak the language, kinda hard to go back to mispronouncing words intentionally…

            • @hustlebwnz: Thats fair enough. As you know here even the tv commercials westernise the pronunciation so most people like myself know no better.

  • +4

The alcohol tax per can is about $2.66, so this is basically being given away for free.

  • +2

The further 10% off might only be available in some states. The banner disappeared for me when I set my store to an SA store. Though weirdly, the T&Cs only specify that the NT is excluded.

    • +1

Exact same thing happened to me (also in SA).
The app is also not applying the 10% either.

      • I almost wonder if you could get your $1.2 back by contacting support, seeing as it initially showed the banner with no exclusion mentioned, but did not apply the discount. Not sure if I value a dollar that much though… hands over OzB license

        • I just placed an order in Aldinga and it gave ne the 10% off.
Also bought some 500ml koppaberg ciders for the wife for only $3. Worked for 2 but went to $6 each with 3 or more.

          • @Gazza-75: I did mine in Seaford, SA and got no discount. I will contact support today and see what happens

  • Will the 10% off not void the cashback?

    • Tracked and pending. But it also wasn't capped, so we shall see.

      • Yeah mine tracked as the price without 10% ($24 even though I only paid $21.60)
I also had a promo earn $5 with $20 spend to get me back on CR

  • +3

    Ordered:
    Pineapple
    Mango
    Pineapple Chuhai

    All discounted.

  • Nice. Never heard of this brand but at this price I've grabbed pineapple and mango to try. Both are on special down here.

    • It’s Woolies home brand. The beers of the same brand are brewed in Japan by Kirin, not sure about these.

      • +2

Orion. At least the beer products are. But yeah just a rebrand. Weird, as you can get Orion here also.

        • Same as Smiths making Aldi brand chippies too. Take a higher cut on Orion label beer, and accept a smaller one on Monsuta in return for the high volume being a Woolies home brand offers.

(You're right, it is Orion not Kirin)

      • 'pinnacle'

      • I got mine today, says made in Japan!
It's been formulated specifically for the Aus market together with Orion.

  • +10

Not as nice as -196, but that didn't stop me getting 10x4 packs

  • thanks got 2 packs and the dark beer which was also 10% off and signed up to cashback.

  • "1000 EDR points for Woolworths owned store"
How to know what is a Woolworths owned BWS? I thought Endeavour owns them all

  • 4 packs so far should i clear the 9 4 pack at the other shop? haha

    • +1

Might as well, I grabbed 11x4 then decided I'd grab another 17x lol (mix of all 3 flavours)

  • Are these low in calories like how the Kirin and 196 ones are?

    • +1

They appear to be zero sugar, sweetened with Ace-K

    • +3

Yep. Coincidentally, I had one for the first time on the weekend. Actually pretty good! And should work on a low-carb/ semi-keto diet.
YMMV but I would prefer they were about 50% less sweet though. They go pretty hard on that artificail sweetner.

  • Picked up and can already see the 1600 points in the app, thank OP!

Cash Rewards tracking is so terrible btw.

  • I've been hoping these guys come out with a Shikuasa chuhai drink locally, really miss those sours from Okinawa.

  • None near me 😭

  • +1

Pineapple tastes terrible but you cannot complain about the price, great value

  • +3

the real question: does this give THE same effect as eating pineapples? ~wink wink~

  • Lemon seems to be $12 as well as the pineapple and mango

  • +2

I bought 28x4 (11x4 then 17x4) and they're not bad for the price. Tried and tested (to tonight lol) for people who like some cheap piss, from a guy who drinks it for alcohol content versus cost.

  • +1

The 10% off is not showing now…

  • Ordered 4 but only 3 in stock upon pickup and was told one would be refunded. Does that invalidate my Cashrewards?

    • Yes great question, exactly same for me here!

  • checkout didnt get 10% off in nsw but shown the banner!

  • Thanks OP - got 10 packs of lemon. $2.20 a can works out well.

  • price back to $12 per 4-pack. Cashback only up to 5.6% available.
Still, will give it a try across both mango and pineapple flavours.

  • How long does it take for cashrewards to track? I ordered mine yesterday and has not tracked yet.

    • Mine tracked within 30mins

  • +3

If anyone didn't get their 10% off and suspect they should not have been excluded (I am in SA), I just called them on 1300 138 297 and they had no idea why it didn't give me the 10% off, so they are refunding me the difference. Worth it if you didn't get it either. The guy was super helpful.

  • +1

How did everyone find the taste? It wasn't my type.

    • Just trying now, quite like it. worth the price for sure.

    • +1

Agreed - wasn't what I expected. Far too astringent. Better with some of my Bickfords mixer cordials

  • +1

As a heavyweight who drinks alcohol to get disober, these were pretty light to drink, the taste is not the best but easy to drink all four in an hour. I am writing this now while sipping my fourth drink and to be hoenst it ;s s trting to kcki nin no w
