You can get Spotify Premium for about A$2.40/month
You will need two things. An Indian IP address and And Indian payment method.

To get an Indian IP address you will need a VPN. A free VPN with a Indian server you can try is the Urban VPN browser extension.

For an Indian payment method you will need to use gift cards, which you can get here:

Here is how to set it up:

  1. Connect to your Indian VPN.
  2. Go to spotify.com. Click your name in the upper right -> "Account" -> "Edit personal info". change "Country or region" to India.

Why did you need to create an alias account just to post this?

Abusing this means people in India/Turkiye/wherever else with regional pricing, will be impacted most when prices rise sharply. It makes a big difference to them.

Report it to the United Nations

      Absolute LOL to this comment!

      FFS no one cares.

    • Your comment at least deserves a respectful reply… economic logic is sound, but this is not reality, for the same reason piracy doesn't affect streaming subscription prices - because only a small percentage pirate, and arguably and even smaller percentage use inconvenient and potentially temporary VPN workarounds. The pricing is based on the demand and disposable income per capita available within that market, in average / median terms.

      • There’s a significant enough user base abusing this that they are actively finding ways to reject payments from overseas, remove offering digital gift cards entirely, and continue to increase pricing for local markets.

        • You just changed the goalposts. You were saying Aussies using this deal will negatively impact those in the cheaper regions. Now you're saying they are cracking down on deal abuse. Two different things. They will price whatever they want in whatever market, according to what they believe will give them the desired balance of user base and revenue, regardless of use/abuse of VPNs etc. Market leaders tend to crack down harder because of the strong user base that can be leveraged for higher revenue.

          • @eggboi: Aussies abusing regional pricing causes increased crack down on the deal abuse and heightened pricing to compensate, which affects the locals in those markets. It's the same related thing.

Everything is related and considered. Sony raised prices on PS5s in other markets to offset US tarrifs. That didn't seem to cover it, and they've now increased prices in the US. Loss of revenue in Australia for these services, and an uptick in other markets, will lead to increased pricing there to offset losses here etc. It's all related.

            • @Hybroid: show us the data behind those claims.

Can you do a guide for OzBargain Premium Cheap?

  • $2.40/month still seems expensive when I can just use youtube in Brave browser or turn on the radio

I think it's more the 'ego' thing. The scoring of a work around dividend. It's just fills the void left where every second person was "sticking it to the man", via pirating. I mean it's probs more about 'cos I can' than 'do I need it'. Data hoarding.
If I need to hear music, I usually find a way that doesn't require subterfuge and validation.

All your favourite hits must be in the public domain already though, right?

Eh, just get Spotify for free if you're on Android.

    • How?

    • They keep closing the loopholes that the android devs are releasing. Every few weeks, need to change and reinstall a different version.

  • i pay $1.39

  • Wouldn’t this have the side effect of getting Indian playlists and mixes recommended to you? Having an Australian account I get lots of ‘Top X in Australia’ on my Home page currently

  • How much for family plan?

  • how about turkey

  • I have updated my country to India and went to see the premium plan. It is around Rs. 139/month so Rs.1668 per year which is equal to around AUD $29.00. will it work with Indian credit card and pay monthly or have to go with the gift card option?

  • Is it just me, or has the cost of the 12 month Indian Spotify cards increased from $30 to $60+?

    • +1

Yep, I'm seeing that too. Bugger.

      • What a pain 😢
