  • Uber Eats gift cards can also be redeemed at Uber.
  • You can switch payment method in the Uber app or Uber Eats app within 30 days. You can buy this discounted Uber Eats gift card to pay past purchases that you paid with bank card.

There is no difference between a regular Uber gift card and an Uber Eats gift card – both can be used for either purpose.

App only: Switch payment hack

A unique feature of Uber’s payment system is that it allows you to change the payment method on purchases you made up to 30 days ago. This means you can buy Uber gift cards when they’re on sale and use them retroactively.

After you’ve added your Uber gift cards to your account, open up the Uber app or Uber Eats app and go to the ride or order you previously made. Select the receipt for that ride or order and then scroll down to where it says Switch Payment Method.

Provided you have enough in your gift card balance to cover the total purchase, you should then be given the option to switch the payment method to use Uber Cash. Your original payment method (e.g. credit card, PayPal etc) will then be refunded.

Note that there have been reports that switching the payment is not possible for rides and orders paid for with Apple Pay or Google Pay.

  • I read uber has now introduced an offer fee to merchants every time a customer uses an offer to "keep prices down"…. How sad

    • +1

There's literally zero offers on the uber eats app in my area
The offers that are there, are still cheaper to go via the Merchant direct and get it delivered

      • Yeah it's probably because of uber punishing them for providing offers.

I agree it is actually better value and better for the local business to go direct now even if you factor in uber discounted giftcards.

The gift cards can still be used for the taxi part but I've also read they increase fares if the app detects you have a giftcard balance

  • Wont let me buy the 10% (im in the app)

    • Sorry 10% is sold out. If you're near Woolworths, 10% back as EDR points in Ultimate Everyone gift cards (Uber/Uber Eats) posted here.
