  • Looking to buy a 75inch this weekend with 1k-1.5k budget. This vs TCL C6K? The living room it's going in let's in plenty of light, windows along three sides. Don't watch TV that much though, just sport and TV shows/movies at night time.

    • +5

Go for c6k or mini led if you can afford.

      • +2

Technically the C6K is a mini led I believe.

Just bought for $1555 inc delivery. Thanks.

        • +4

          Sneaky over budget ;)

        • Snagged one also. Very happy thus far although it doesn't play very nicely with my older Sonos playbar.

    • +1

At a little more, this will be a snatch if you can manage to negotiate https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/16762799/redir

    • If Hisense go for the U6 or the U7 series Mini-LED. More expensive yes, downsize if you need to but it's worth the money.

  • Is this good to put outdoors under a covered patio?

    • +14

No electronics should be stored outdoors due to high humidity unless it’s designed for outdoors

      • +2

Much of Asia has high humidity, most likely far higher than Perth where MANU7D seems to reside. I'd be more concerned if I lived close to the sea as that's humidity with salt - much worse.

As per comment from DannyBoy below this might be more important. I would only go with a Google TV now and we have an 85" Sony and a non-Google 65" with an adaptor.

        • How close to the sea do you have to be for the salt to be a concern? I'm 3.5km from the beach, just curious.

        • Google TV vs Firestick/Amazon?

    • Just watch the dust. If you pull the back cover off once a year and blow dust off cooling fan/ heat sinks etc. Good to go.
Obviously cover it fully when not in use.

    • +5

Had out TV outside undercover in Perth for the last 10 years, works perfectly. It is great in the summer evenings

  • +3

If really interested and serious, make sure you hop on TGG chat and negotiate to get it for ~$899 or less (YMMV) - I've had decent experiences in the past.

I have a Hisense model from a few years back and I find VIDAA operating system to be total rubbish. It lags, system has started to freeze, blank screens and others issues. I wouldn't recommend compared to the simplicity of a Google TV

    • +9

just wack a 40 dollar fire stick or chromecast on

      • That would definitely help, but the general boot up times and issues with remote lag wouldn't change

    • +3

Base os is only really applicable if you are using it right? If you are running something else like appletv via an input then you skip the crap, slow os?

    • Is the OS a concern if you plan to use it like a dumb TV? I want one just for video games, no streaming apps or TV channels or anything. Do all smart TVs harass you to enable Wi-Fi and update the OS and apps etc? I have noticed my friends' smart TVs take forever to boot up and turn on compared to my current 15 year old dumb TV.

    • -1

It's updated a lot. On high end TVs, it's one of the fastest operating systems in market

    • You can.

  • +4

Do Hisense still do the bait and switch in Australia? Release a TV in America, wait for the great reviews then Release an inferior tv with the same model number in Australia.

    • I read on a tv reviews forum ( might have been reddit?) that HiSense confirmed TV hardware (not OS) specs are now same worldwide.

Opinion on same site was hisense does have bad rep for high rate of quality issues though.

      • It was deliberately deceptive and misleading. So the statethey release about "not doing it anymore" it probably more of the same.

    • I believe so

Before you read my pothead story, make sure these TV's have android built in, as hisense browsers are blocked by Google, so you'll need to use Microsoft edge to get around that nightmare, as hisense's proprietary storefront is heresy.

Seeing how phone screens and TV screens are made is so crazy, looking at the main board is that big running on a arm processor, some TV's vary but no where near as crazy complex as tube TVs or Panasonic's Goliath thick plasma.

If someone asked me they wanted toilet paper and were in the desert and had no leaves, I'd tell them to open the TV get the screen layered sheet and use that as toilet paper, and the magnifying paper as magnifying glass to light fire in the chiller nights in the desert and the metallic filter to act as a shiv.

So yeah those TV screens can come in handy, but oled nope if you're in the desert and there's no leaves well you're outta luck oleds have no membrane filters, so milage will very.

A tube tv definitely if you need some caffeine or sudden jolt.

      is that a haiku?

  • I would never buy a Hisense again, bought one for my mum and within 2 years the entire middle of the screen from the top to the bottom has completely shadowed, almost black. I’ve bought 2 TCL at the same time and they are going strong still. Would pay the extra and get a TCL over this landfill garbage brand.

    • +2

My A7HAU is still going strong since 2021. Maybe yours are just bad batch. Both TCL and Hisense have 3 yrs warranty and you can extend it with JB or Goodguys extra care.

    • Hisense have a three year warranty.

      • +1

Oh that’s good to know! I will reach out to them.

    • Their lower end models suck if that's what you had bought. I picked up a 65N7 on release and it's still going strong, no issues whatsoever. At the time i also picked up one of their lower end models for the bedroom and it's UI is pretty sluggish. Luckily i've rarely had to use it.

We just bought the TCL C8K 65 inches for $1250 at The Good Guys last weekend. Price matched with Retravision I think and we bargained more and the guy said ok as we coupled it with the latest TCL soundbar Q85H Pro. The TV is really good and the specs are higher than the C6K or C7K version. My advice is to go all the way to C8K as it is on sale now at TGG and HN. Try and bargain further if your luck is good. The TV is the latest release in May 2025. I won’t recommend the soundbar (having problems with it) I would recommend the TCL C8K. Audio is by BANG & OLUFSEN. Below are the specs

    QD MiniLED / QLED
    · Precise Dimming (Full Array 1680 Zones)
    · Audio by BANG & OLUFSEN
    · HDR10+ / 4500 Nits Peak Brightness
    · Border-Free Vision
    · CrystGlow WHVA Panel
    · 288Hz VRR / Freesync Premium Pro
    · 200 CMR
    · Google TV / Chromecast Built-In
    · Netflix / Stan / Amazon Prime / YouTube

Highly recommend this TV and series for a few more dollars. We are very happy with the purchase especially the price we got it for :)

    • @Schon71 Can you confirm you got the 65inch C8K for $1250. I have not been able to see this price on any searches.

      • I can confirm it. I can even show you my invoice but I don’t know how to upload it here. Or can you? It was “on sale” for $1799 and we bargained to $1250 as we bundled it up with the soundbar. With the amount saved, we got their 5 years Gold service extra.

I have to say we were lucky. We negotiated and bargained further and the TGG caved in. I’m sure if I bargained more, I can get it lesser. We are smiling from ear to ear ever since. If you can’t find that price, wait a while if you can. I’m sure there’s more promos or sale coming out. After we got it, it went up to about $2499 the following week and now it went down again after 3 weeks. If you can wait and hunt around for cheaper prices, I suggest you do that but you have to be fast when it goes lower. We had to order it in and wait (the ran out of stock) for a bit before we got it. Good thing is TGG price match with others. So do that :)

        • Thanks. Looks like a great deal with the bundle on the TV. Will keep looking.

  • Maybe the deal has ended. My price is 995. Price beat of 978

    • Is that the C8K?

      • No

        • Phew. If it is, I can still get them to price match and get the difference. LOL

          • @Schon: You already got the lowest c8k 65inch price this year

            • @scottySK: Yeah. I know. The greedy wants to be greedier. Haha

    • +1

      use the code

      • Oops. Thanks.

  • Warranty is only good on expensive items, cheap $1000 items no, if you get a good 2 or 4 years that's a good run.

    • We got the gold extra service for 5 years from the money saved. Now Having problems with the soundbar and they gladly replaced it. I told them we wanted another brand instead and all we have to do is to top up the difference.

  • code DEAL07 is expired or not valid
best price is now $978 with price beat
