  • Just eat a balanced diet and get enough sun exposure for Vit D

    • -3

yeah the vit D in this is terrible only 200IU thats literally F$#k all it will do nothing for you. 20 min in the sun will get you at least 10,000 to 20,000IU if you are in Queensland. most likely 40 min if your are in NSW or VIC.

Sunny day in sydney today. Currently sitting outside getting my Vit D dose while UV index is low

        • -1

as long as you have full exposure of your body head to toe you don't need more than 30 to 40 min in sun. Sun bathing is usually what I do in the afternoons back and front.

Currently sitting outside getting my Vit D dose

don't forget to also sun your bum hole. many people forget that it is vitally important

          • @c64: Bung holes are drying out in the windy weather.

Refer to this and do your own multi-source data-backed readings.

Many people will have already come across the hyperbole on ultra-high supratherapeutic vitamin D dosing from health/fitness influencers on Tiktok, YT shorts and similar, and probably sussed it out for themselves.

        TLDR:

Vit D needs are 600-800 units daily of which you are getting at least partially from diet and sun, check your vit D blood test and consult with your primary care registered health professional (e.g. GP) to settle on a safe approach to ensure you are replete. You can be hypervitamosis and suffer adverse events some irreversible from taking supplements, which in the case of vitamin D can increase the risk of hypercalcinosis, the deposition of calcium in soft tissues like blood vessels (increasing risk of heart attacks and strokes and peripheral vascular disease) and kidneys (increasing risk of chronic renal failure).

Sun exposure, when not adhering to safe practices, does increase your exposure to UV-A (ultraviolet radiation) that causes photoaging like thinning and sagging and spotting of skin, and increases your exposure to UV-B that causes skin growths and tumours including malignant ones that are cancerous and can be aggressive like melanoma and cause premature death.

        • 600 to 800 units has been proven to be useless in the latest medical research on vit D, most new age doctors will recommend 10,000 IU a day for vit d thats just for maintenance and health. On going studies with a low dose of chemotherapy and 50,000 IU daily of vit D it has a better effect with less side effects on treating cancer, than a high dose of chemotherapy, with damaging effects. With UV exposure as long as you don't get burnt, UV provides the body with enough benefits for vit d and other benefits over time. Vit D plays a huge role in preventing cancer and treating it so the fact that people say UV causes cancer with out context makes me laugh. melanomas pop up in areas usually that don't get enough sun light, and people that are vit D deficient. Study's have showed people with healthy levels of vit D with cells that have healthy midalcondia, simply have a low to no risk of cancer.

      • International units, are you fingers tired from all the keyboard kungfoo.

    • For $8 I can eat kfc deals for 3 months and sit inside though. There is some value here

      • yeah you will get more benefit out of that than these pills lol.

    • +2

yeah thats fine,as long as its not blue

Better to analyse nutrient and vitamin deficiencies via blood tests and take concentrated seperate capsules of Omegas, Vit D, Mag etc.
Improve your own food choices and lifestyle to compensate for any other shortfalls if possible.

This product will help slightly due to being wide spectrum but marginally due to low dosage, mostly waste of money but its better than nothing lol

    • -1

if you are Vit D deficient dont' take this crap because it won't make you any less deficient

      • -1

yep agreed, need much higher concentrated doses of Vit D especially if deficient and some good ol sunlight

        • -2

anything under 5000IU is a joke on any vit D supplement its laughable when you see things like 200IU and 1000IU of Vit D. you might as well just give people a placebo.

          • +1

@kungfuman: Not so. I did a blood test, then took 2 x 1000 IU daily for several years, then did a blood test afterwards. It made a significant difference in my vitamin D blood levels.

250H VIT D went up from 42 to 84-94 (two different tests in summer/winter).

The key is checking your blood tests. Don’t just take it blindly.

            • @zoltanc: agreed, although everyones different for Vit D daily intake ive found. It may work for kungfu for higher doses everyday but regardless of the person, the key is to boost up with high doses of Vit D if youre at dangerously low levels as shown in blood test, then reduce IUs to stabalise vit D until it averages out with consecutive blood tests.

I do well with 2-3k IUs per day and my Vit D has never dropped below average for years (but i also go out much more than i used to when i had low levels of Vit D), hopefully stays that way. some people i know take 5k per day and it works stellar for them, and some of my night shift workers mates take that range or a bit higher as well.

VIT D intake is a definitely a YMMV scenario, has to be data driven, can not manage what you can not see.

  • I take this one (hits everything) apparently rainbow light is good too.

    • Yeah wouldn't trust US brands, check out their team, 2/3 of the team are in marketing. Where are the nutritionists or docs? Feels like a white labled product sold of from Temu.

      Stick to Aussie brands.

  • Swiss Multi is also on sale and gives better per capsule.

5mg of vitamin B6. This is 2-3 times the daily recommended intake. Be careful if taking this with any other B6 supplements

    • the daily upper tolerable limit is 50mg for australia and 12mg for europe. these would be set with a safety margin. is the b6 in the tablets 100% absorbed? i think you will be fine as long as you are not combining with additional large sources of b6 from other vitamin tablets

      • +1

An article by ABC News mentions the limit of 1.7mg per day. So which number is correct? 🤔

        • +2

one is an RDI (recommended dietary intake), the other is an UL (upper level of intake). i think it right to be concerned, especially when you are combining multiple vitamin tablets containing b6

  • Sunshine is tried and proven to be one of the most effective thing to do to ward off cold and flu.
Recently we've had a few rounds of the cold/flu go around. Get outside and ward it off quickly, no missed days so far.

Go to the beach too, find one with lots of minerals and be pleasantly surprised of the noticeable health benefits.

If its overcast, getting outside helps, refreshing the air in your lungs. But where is fresh air in the suburbs with more stinky oily diesel burners driving around. So go for a wander and wonder.

But if you think you need multivitamin tablets or supplement tablets then you've missed the gap analysis or your GP has.
And do not drink coffee as you end up pissing out most of the tablet content.
