Works on switch 2
Was going to ask this! Any benefits over getting the official Nintendo one….?
You get a resolution not from the early 2000's
was going to say the same then realised the "Official" $69.95 Nintendo Switch 2 Camera
Video capture quality: 1080p
It's the 3rd party ones like the HORI Piranha Plant Camera for Nintendo Switch 2 that retail for that retail for $64AUD with a resolution of
Camera Resolution: 640 x 480
Interestingly, neither JB or EB Games state the resolution of the HORI webcam on the product pages, you have to go to the manufacturers website to find it… or read the 1 star reviews
@camshandez: I wonder how Hori skimped out for their official licensed cameras. They couldn't find an off-the-shelf 1080p component that worked with the Switch 2's finicky camera requirements?
Much cheaper and does everything it's supposed to just the same.
Wow. Cheaper than AliExpress. Also can do pan and tilt.
How does this work on Ms Teams if laptop already has a webcam?
In the Teams "devices" settings, you can just select an alternative webcam from the dropdown menu.
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/media/conte…Thx for that. Do you think this cam is better quality that the oem laptop one?
Yes (depending on your laptop)
Almost certainly. Laptop cameras are generally pretty trash, and this one will benefit from a much larger sensor and lens.
didn't know ugreen makes webcam.
2K https://www.amazon.com.au/UGREEN-Cancelling-Correction-Strea…
and
4K https://www.amazon.com.au/UGREEN-Microphone-Autofocus-Stream…
versions also on sale. seems cheaper than the average Logitech/Creative sales.
just a heads up - I got UGREEN 2k camera in the past hoping for it to be an upgrade for macbook home office setup and ended up switching back to the built-in camera
Were they that bad?
unfortunately, the contrast was messed up, my regular lighting would all of the sudden make me look crap, so even though I could get "a different angle" - everything else was just straight up not worth it compared to the camera mpb comes with
Is there a lense cap?
4k model comes with a capDitto on this. As much as I like UGREEN. I have this particular webcam and indeed the contrast is shot
I find that Mac users are generally much better presented over video, the built in camera is generally superior to most windows machines. My Thinkpad always makes me look like one of those anonymous whistleblowers on TV
This is a fixed-focus camera. Which means if you hold a document or book up to the lens, perhaps to show someone during a video call, the document or book will likely be blurred and unreadable.
I made this mistake when I bought a Logitech webcam years ago, it was also fixed focus. I bought a different webcam with autofocus and haven't used the Logitech one since.
Though if you only want a camera to show your visage in video calls, then autofocus can sometimes be a problem. Cheaper cameras are sometimes very slow to focus, and can sometimes focus on the wrong thing - like the keyboard in front of you, instead of your face.
Which one did you buy?
The fixed-focus one was a Logitech C270.
I replaced it with a Campark USB Webcam from this deal, apparently no longer available: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/641188
I've had the opportunity to compare the Campark webcam with a Logitech C910. The Logitech C910 focuses much more quickly. But for the price, the Campark one was definitely much better value. Thanks OzBargain!
This would be good if it had a privacy cover
I think it was Snowden who leaked the US mass surveillance program whereby remotely activated webcam/mics where used to spy on own citizens. Australia is part of the Five Eyes. I guess you could use tape!
@zbargainhunter: privacy cover doesnt cover mic. evenif it did, it would still pickup voice if they really wanted to. According to me, if they really want to spy, they have plenty of other means/ways.
@expertreader: I never said it covers mic. With that logic, an intruder has many ways to get inside your house. Does that mean you should leave your front door unlocked?
@zbargainhunter: keeping front door unlocked is not correct analogy. You are trying to prevent intruder coming in the house by adding blinds to the windows.
@expertreader: Feel free to leave your blinds open and dance naked in front of it buddy. You do you ;)
Just unplug it when not in use
what about just face it up when not in use? so all they see is the blank ceiling.
and if people concerned about their mic being spied, well they do that already with all the smart devices under your roof. 😀
also I didn't notice this myself when linking the other two models above,
but 2K and 4K models come with privacy cover.
Goddamn it I got it for 40 bucks on amazon day.
expected as usual. 😂
I just posted another deal that is cheaper than it was on Prime day.
Looks decent, not bad for the price.
