  • Cashback is on the purchase of the physical SIM only. You can convert to eSIM after you have received the physical SIM. Activate the physical SIM first, insert and then convert to eSIM.
  • If you're a current Boost customer, you will need to port out into another provider and then port back into Boost. Please see the steps in my comment here.

TA's Tracking Tips:

  • Prior to using TopCashback, disable/remove all 3rd party plugins (AdBlock, uBlock, Pi-hole, Honey, etc), VPNs, and avoid browsers such as Brave.
  • For iOS device: Apart from ensuring you’re not using an AdBlock app for Safari, the most important one is to ensure you have ‘Prevent Cross-Site Tracking’ turned off (see here).

What will stop me getting my cashback

  • SIM must be activated within 30 days of purchase, and must not be deactivated until your cashback is payable. If the SIM is deactivated prior, Boost may decline cashback.
  • Multiple SIM purchases need to be made as separate transactions. If there is more than one SIM in an order, it will result in an untracked purchase and the purchase will be ineligible for cashback.
  • Cashback is ineligible on eSIMs, recharges, phones, bundles, accessories, $2 SIMs.
  • Cashback is ineligible on use of any codes not approved and posted by TopCashback.
  • Cashback is ineligible on use of gift cards for payment and/or purchase of gift cards.
  • Cashback is ineligible on purchases made via the retailer's mobile app.

What else is essential

  • Engaging with plugins such as Honey, AdBlock, uBlock, Pi-hole, VPNs, and browsers such as Brave may prevent your order from tracking.
  • You must always return to TopCashback and click the pink cashback button through to the retailer's website for each new transaction. Ensure the TopCashback link is the last one used to visit the retailer's website prior to completing your purchase.
  • Any accounts that engage in fraudulent orders/activities to game/cheat the cashback system will be banned and cashback forfeited.

can this be used for existing boost customers too or will you need to port out then back in to use?

thnks, only reason I asked is my last recharg last year this time I rang up the hotline and spoke to a human and they essentailly 'activated' my 'new' plan on my 'existing' service and I did not have to change to new SIM.

second question, can you activate with eSIM with boost these days?

        • You were lucky Boost did that. I have to request with my Telstra service. It's not the norm.

          • @trixieb: thanks legend, hm either this at 5G or try Kogan for nearly half the price!

            • @reece8: Different network so they are not quite comparable. Telstra/Boost versus Vodafone/Kogan. Some people will find Telstra works better than Vodafone and vice versa. Telstra/Boost will have better regional/remote coverage.

            • +1

@reece8: Try Vodafone for a month using a cheap sim found on eBay before committing to a whole year with Kogan.

Vodafone is nowhere near as bad as it used to be but as with every carrier service in your location and the locations you frequent will vary.

              • @shutuptakemymoney101: I beg to differ. Vodafone in suburban Sydney is very hit and miss for me. A lot of places I get such poor uploads I can't even send an MMS.

                • +1

@Rail Rider95: That really does illustrate my point perfectly that YMMV.

I put my son on Voda (cheap, cheerful with loads of data) while I use Boost. I've found on more than a couple of occasions while using identical phones that his data speed is good while my speed with Boost is working at a snails pace.

Not sure if it's a co-incidence (Telstra outages/maintenance), congestion or Telstra somehow knee capping their Boost product lol.

I'm up for a new year recharge late next month, I've already bought a discounted Boost plan ready to go but I've decided to do a 6 month stint with Moose mobile (Optus 4/5G network) first before I port back.

                  https://moosemobile.com.au/

If Optus turns out to be the better product my son's next recharge will be with Boost. lol

Did we go back to early 2000s

        • Ive done the same thing 2 years in a row for mine and partners phone, boost to boost (not a recharge voucher). Never had an issue if you speak to someone. They transfer your number to new sim over the phone and activates by the time you've hung up and put the new sim in. Probably faster then porting in/out too.

      • When we port out to another provider, how long should we stay with them to be able to port back into Boost mobile and be eligible for this offer? Is there a minimum limit, like 30 days before we come back to Boost Mobile?

        • +2

There is no time requirement and it's up to you. You can port in and out as soon as they work (eg using Telstra $2 SIM) or stay 28 days with the other provider. Please see the steps in my comment here.

          • @trixieb: Doesn’t Telstra require you to top up credit with the $2 Telstra sim?

        • +3

I did the port out port in just last week. Can do everything in one evening. 8PM port in Telstra, done in 10 mins, wait for around 2hrs (just to make sure), then jump back to Boost (done in 10 mins too). Hope it helps!

        • +1

I did mine recently and didn't need to wait ($2 telstra sim). Took me about 15-20 mins total.

          • +1

            @mearkat7: Where/How to get that $2 SIM?

            • +1

@mkowarkski: Telstra $2 SIMs are sold in Coles, Woolworths, Officeworks etc.

            • +3

@mkowarkski: Can be found per @trixieb's reply, just make sure when you are porting over to telstra you scroll to the bottom of the page and select that you will recharge later, this lets you port over without needing to pay more than the $2.

      • In your post re porting out from Boost, you mentioned you can call, online chat or go instore to Telstra? Unsure what you ask for specifically - can you not just activate the $2 sim online - why do you need to contact customer support?

        • +1

@dubo1981 That would be another option for experienced churners. My reply in the link was to someone that asked, who was a newbie.

Telstra/Boost won't allow me to activate online. It has been more than a year now and has happened to several OzBargainers too. We have to contact Telstra/Boost support to activate. I use both Telstra and Boost SIM cards.

The comment I linked to was my specific reply to someone who said: "This will be my first time porting so I don't really know what to do." Hence it may be easier for them to contact support.

          From my comment on porting:

If using Telstra, you can call, chat online or go to a Telstra store to port out of Boost into Telstra.

          • +1

@trixieb: Ok, thanks. I just used the online chat and it worked fine - now to manage the port back to boost.

      • +1

For anyone whom is wondering - you can't activate Telstra sims via desktop, only works on mobile app or browser (at least it failed yesterday and today for me, trying both Firefox and Edge), worked first time on Safari mobile.

As soon as the Testra sim is activated, you can then activate the new Boost sim. Process took 20 minutes all up to go Boost > Telstra > Boost.

Edit: Process wasn't hard at all. Boost sim arrived in 2 business days while the Telstra $2 sim took about 5 biz daze.

    • Second point in post
If you're a current Boost customer, you will need to port out into another provider and then port back into Boost. Please see the steps in my comment here.

    • +1

AFAIK Boost only offered once or twice discount recharge for existing customers but that was early days. From then onwards, I have never seen any of those. Every discount that I found is for new signups only.

If you call them, they may or may not recharge your existing account with this new customer only voucher. It's basically them going against their own T&C.

So be prepared to do porting. If you are regular, you should know it will only take a few minutes of downtime. It's that easy.

  • +1

Excellent, I saw the $45 cashback offer from Cashrewards and was wondering if TopCashback would respond.

    • Still waiting on my cashback from TopCashback from 2-3 months ago for the last boost deal I don't think it's coming.

      • Same

      • Check the tracked transaction in TopCashback earning section. The last deal was end of June, and today it says another 15 weeks to become payable.

        • +1

@Sean8802 You can see the estimated payable (15 weeks) when you click "+" on the Boost transaction.

@Lucille Bluth It would mean 15 weeks from purchase date. It showed 15 weeks when I checked a few weeks ago.

Cashback is usually paid in about 3 months. My Boost 28-day SIM purchase on 12th May was "payable" on 24th July so that took less than 3 months to be paid.

  • +6

Don't think we will see under $200 again, thanks Telstra

    • Not without cashback. I got this a few weeks ago for 189ish

    • +3

More like a plotted scam by telcos named 5G.

  • Can you usually port from Telstra to Boost with no issues? Dont want to have to port out to cheap sim.

    • +5

$2 Telstra SIM seems to work as reported on OzBargain. Please see the steps in my comment here.

    • +3

definitely works. did it last night with no issues.

      • Awesome, thanks! Did it take long to port? Just dont want to be without a phobe for work.

        • +1

Took about 5mins to port over to Telstra, but took maybe about 15-20min for the service to appear in the telstra app (this is very important). If you don't wait and try to port back they will cancel the port and will take longer to sort out.
Port back to Boost took about 5mins as well.

      • Last time the $2 sim made me pay $13 for one week. How were you able to activate the sim without selecting a plan?

        • Answered here.

just make sure when you are porting over to telstra you scroll to the bottom of the page and select that you will recharge later, this lets you port over without needing to pay more than the $2.

        • See comment from trixieb

    • -1

Came here to verify this as I know Boost was previously in the Telstra system and you couldn't port from Telstra to Boost as they were in the same system.

      • How long was this ago? As mentioned by duckdodger, he was able to port back to boost from Telstra.

        • +1

@runamuck Many comments on OzBargain that you can port in and out with Telstra $2 SIM eg no issues last night.

If you're not familiar, please see the steps in my comment here.

        • +1

This was like 8 or so years ago when I worked for Telstra.

        • +1

It was hard going to move from Telstra post paid to Boost and could only be done manually (and maybe still a problem), prepaid Telstra to Boost online is not a problem.

  • +2

Just ported to Felix as my Boost was coming to an end. Will jump back after and take advantage of this. Cheers OP

  • +1

So just confirming if my understanding is correct

I bought a similar deal last year (think it was October 2024) and got the 1 year validity one

Because it is not yet expiring, it will not make sense for me to purchase this deal now as the cashback will not track if I don't activate the sim in 30 days right?

    • +3

The cashback would track but Telstra/Boost may reject if they check that it isn't activated within 30 days of purchase. It's a risk and would be better to wait for another cashback offer, hopefully around October.

    • Your still getting a $50 discount instead of paying $300. The $50 discount from Boost ends 11 August but you can activate the card before 6 Oct 2025. Not trying to FOMO you but something to think about, there are always some other offers that may appear later if this doesn't match your timing.

  • +2

Thanks OP, was looking for something like this to go back to Boost. cheers

      • Oh sorry missed the $50 cashback.

  • Bugger. Pulled the trigger on the $330 with $70 cashback over the weekend!

  • Woolworths has Optus 45GB/$39 28-day prepaid sim for $14 (ends today). Switch to it for 25 days and then switch back to Boost.

    • Felix was quick and easy, and esim so no need to go to the shops

  • -2

lyca is still good on 180$ for 600GB with 365 days

    • Last year they migrated to Vodafone and were Telstra before.

I'm on Kogan (Vodafone) right now and their coverage is horrible.

      • Unfortunately Lyca is OzBargain's least popular provider with many complaints. Refer to the Lyca posts here.

        • +3

My dad used to be with Lyca for YEARS. Their migration to a new network provider was so poorly handled. He was without service for weeks at a time and went through about 6 sim cards. Never again.

    • +5

Lyca doesnt include 1300/1800 numbers lol and their porting process is confusing and terrible

  • +6

Is someone getting "Sorry, Something went wrong" issue during checkout?

    • +3

Ahhh the good ol "Sorry, Something went wrong". Hundreds have trekked through the same path before you without solution.

Is it because of the same IP address? Name? Number? Card details? Nobody knows…

    • +8

@Karansingh When you are unable to pay due to "SORRY, SOMETHING WENT WRONG" message, please try the following suggestions:

      • Use your Passport as ID (instead of driver's licence).
      • Use a debit card (instead of credit card).
      • Use a different email.
      • Type your address manually.
        (i) Type any address and choose "I can't find my address" as shown here.
(ii) Add your address manually in the "Address" section shown here. It's below "Delivery address".
(iii) Vary a little e.g. St instead of Street, Ave instead of Avenue etc.

If you experience any issues at the checkout page, start all over again to ensure tracking. Click the pink button at TopCashback through to Boost website again.

      Good luck!

      • +1

        Thank you! Will try reordering

      • +1

        perfect, thank you

      • +2

Different credit card eventually got it to work.

        • +1

Yes , same for me. Tried different card and worked.

      • +2

Used a Debit card instead a Credit Card so it worked . Thank you for the information.

      • +4

Just spent 20min doing all sorts of combinations of the above, including using Edge browser instead. None of it worked with no explanation. Pretty frustrating and poor form. It literally doesn't want to take our money.

        • Sorry to hear. Read these comments here and here that may help. Good luck.

          • @trixieb: I would encourage people encountering "Something Went Wrong" error messages to look up eCommerce Velocity Rules. Might be something worth adding to the troubleshooting.

The decision-making is often external to the brand but plays a massive roll in these types of errors, and it's much easier to say 'SWW' rather than a system falsely accuses a user.

            • @JaxDefected: Thanks. I had a brief read of the eCommerce Velocity Rules.

Telstra/Boost seem to be the main company with this 'SWW' issue reported on OzB. I saw an old comment from several years ago about this 'SWW' issue from a Boost rep on OzB. Not much has changed.

There are also OzBargainers that received 'SWW' when they tried to buy Telstra/Boost for the first time. Not a customer before and no one else in the household either.

              • @trixieb: My credit card is registered for auto recharge to another Boost mobile service I have. It seems this blocked my card number for further Boost purchases - thus triggering this error.

I used my son's debit card and the transaction went through without any problem - same details otherwise.

                • @SydChrome: Debit cards have a higher chance of being processed than credit cards. It's probably unrelated to your credit card being registered with Boost. As mentioned, there are new Telstra/Boost buyers that were also rejected.

            • @JaxDefected: A SWW message is not helpful at all, it does very little for the end customer to know if it's a service issue on Boost's end or an issue with the customer.

If the problem is with the card vendor (payment issue), it's 1000% better to tell us that. Then we can either sort it out, try another card, or enquire with the bank.

As per all of the comments around every offer on OB for Boost, everyone is trying everything to get through. In the end, you're losing customers who are simply giving up - I'm almost there.

              Your errors should say:
              * What went wrong (there was a payment issue)
              * Provide a suggestion on how to fix it (contact your bank)
              * How to get help (a link for further help)

              • @djc: My goodness, a solution I was just told by Boost support was to ask a work colleague to sign up for me …

Sure, lets get a work colleague to agree to a legal agreement on my behalf.

      • +3

Tried multiple changes as suggested - still no success.
I only have one card and its not a debit card.
Calling Boost support was no help. Guess I miss this deal Grrr..

      • For those still trying, I attempting things incrementally including across multiple credit & debit cards / different devices / addresses etc.

For me a new email address worked. No idea why this error gets thrown on the boost website - my email must be falsely flagged I guess

      • +1

Use your Passport as ID (instead of driver's licence).
        Type your address manually.

        Thanks that worked for me!

    • +2

If you have a chance try doing on a PC/laptop instead of your phone. Had similar issues last night and got fed up after the 2nd try and used my laptop and worked first go.

      • +2

Thanks! Tried that before asking for suggestion here, unfortunately didn't work.

    • +1

I finally successfully ordered it after legit 8+ tries (over the weekend with the previous deal). The only thing I did differently (albeit, on the 2nd attempt) was do a manual address BUT I made sure to write U instead of Unit and Ave instead of Avenue (as per OPs instructions on this and previous deals). It’s such a shit system though, the 8+ times I tried, I did a range of different stuff, including different cards, licence/passport, different emails, including middle name/not including, even tried manually adding address (but with no abbreviations), different browsers (including iOS/PC).

Anyway, I got there in the end, so maybe give the abbreviation of address a try!

      • Happy for you. Thanks for the update 😀

    • +2

I finally got this to work after a combo of everything mentioned here.

For me, it was changing browsers from Chrome to Safari on the laptop.

      Thanks for the tips!

  • Can you buy 2 SIMs in two separate transactions to get $100 cashback ?

    • +2

Yes. Click the pink button at TopCashback through to Boost website again.

  • Bad timing for me. I just bought a OnePass sim a week ago ready to renew in August. I'm not normally one to claim that Telstra reception is so amazing compared to others, but Vodafone has been pretty patchy over the last year. Hopefully Optus is better.

  • Bought one last month, didn't track but gave me a confirmation screen and now it's taken weeks with no response to missing cashback.

    • +1

@RockyK9 Sorry to hear. Unfortunately missing cashback claims can take several months to be resolved.

TopCashback does not add the tracking manually. There is usually no response during the waiting period. TopCashback will contact you if they need more info. My missing cashback claims have all been paid.

To give you an estimate of waiting times for cashback, estimated payable for Boost orders that tracked is 15 weeks. Boost orders that tracked are usually paid in about 3 months.

      • You can check on the progress of your claim or add further info here.

      • If you wish to contact support, here is the link.

From TopCashback: Why is it taking so long for you to process?

      All the best.

  • +1

Perfect timing. My CatchMobile-Now-OnePass-Mobile is just about to expire

  • +2

Boost is pricy and no longer worth it TBH.

    • +8

      I agree, but what's a better alternative?

    • Why is that? If I want the full network though only other option is Telstra
