These are free at 7-11 with origin energy

This is less of a deal.

i wonder how old the beans are? lol

        • +1

          Single origin beans

        • When they were $1, the beans would get filled multiple times a day. Such turnover would generally mean fresh beans. Not sure about now.

What about the big electricity retailers

Noteworthy for their presence at the very bottom of the list of Australia’s greenest energy providers are the most widely known and used energy companies in Australia, namely Origin Energy (ranked 44 of 48), Energy Australia (ranked 45 of 48) and AGL Energy (ranked last of 48).

These are the legacy fossil-fuel energy generators and retailers operating the largest coal-fired power stations in Australia, as well as oil and gas mining projects. To be fair, they have the longest road ahead to become green energy providers given where they started, and to their credit they are attempting to change (albeit slowly) with investments in renewable energy generation.

Yikes, at least you get your free coffee though champ

      • +2

I mean, wokeness is something I would pay extra to avoid

But some of us don't have a choice about electricity provider, so a token dollar or 2 for free is not a negative.

        • -5

Being environmentally conscious is considered woke by those on the lower socio-economic and lower intelligence side of the bell curve now? Where did it all go wrong?

          • +1

@King Steuart: Aha ! Typically woke and Lefties' reply ! Thanks for confirming what we already know and have a nice day unlike those of us who has to budget to pay for the rising basic living costs in particular ENERGY !

          • +4

@King Steuart: ethical consumption is a luxury of the rich

            • @Mingenibbler: Or virtue signalling posers who simp for validation from random people on an anonymous forum…that guy (yes, gender assumed) sounds really hurt!

            • @Mingenibbler: Black coffee has no milk

    • +4

These are free at 7-11 with origin energy

      Only one per week.

You also don't need to be a customer to use the app…

      • And when was that deal posted? I like shopping but I prefer to get things for free……yeah I know I am the product……

        • It's not a deal, it's just part of Origin Rewards… Discount movies, fuel and free coffee.

      • +1

Getting 1 FREE coffee every week in Origin Rewards app
Haven't been Origin customer since '24. Signed up then for app.

        • So not origin customers only?

          • @capslock janitor: Think have to be able to log into Origin Rewards app. To generate barcode.
Which seems only available if a current or past customer with log in details.
            Discussion in that Deal.

      • How without being a customer?

        • +2

I was a customer a while back and my login still works.

  • +3

Cheapest way to extend Velocity points expiry date!

  • That's 85 cents per coffee since the 7th coffee could be free

    • It sure tastes like it's worth about 85 cents…

      • +8

        The new machines are good
And also make sure you are using the mechine furthest away from the entrance

        • +1

That one has alternative milk 🧐

          • +2

@Tim Mc: You prefer cow breast milk over eating nuts and soy beans, that's fair

        • +3

My local has all 3 equal distance from the entrance!

        • The machine furtherest from the entrance is usually the toilet

      • +2

For those on a budget its worth it

      • Lol, savage

      • +1

It's definitely an improvement, much better than previously. Given a small coffee in Brisbane CBD tends to start at $5 this is great value!

    • I doubt that you can use this with the app? Otherwise you would get a high net worth treat eg. Donut, free on your 7th visit.

    • I would like to try a free new flavour V.

  • +3

It is nearly half price of those cafe, Gloria Jeans, …etc, still taste good.

  • +1

I find Reddy Express (Coles) tastes much better with more strength options, but you don't really get to choose which servo is closest to you.

Plus the buy 5, get 6th free is more competitive with FlyBuys.

That being said, I just get my coffees from HJ's, cheap with a +$1 upgrade on their Jack's Deals Meals, buy 4 get 1 free.

    • Plus the buy 5, get 6th free is more competitive with FlyBuys.

Except you can no longer track the how many more you need for the free one.

      • Ikr, found that really annoying!

        • I've stopped buying their coffees because of it…

If everyone stops, maybe they'll work out why…

          • @jv: It's only temporary, they emailed in advance saying it's just for the rest of the year while they transfer systems.

            • @Jimbuscus: I don't get the emails, I'm not a customer…

            • @Jimbuscus: I got an email today saying it’s switching over next month.

    • +1

I agree about Reddy but I swear I've now bought 9 or 10 and still havent received a free one. Without a way to track I have no way of proving it lol.

      • Yeah same, then you get the free coffee emails in quick succession

    • +1

Agreed, always been a better coffee from flavor to texture from reddy express

  • +3

Thanks for posting about this OP.
    Much appreciated. :-)

Worth noting that franchise owners lose money on this

    • +3

Surely these type of promos are funded by head office?

      • -2

no, the franchise owners bears the loss.

    • +1

      Sauce?

      • “Trust me bro

      • family friend owns one. their promos aren't covered by head office, a lot of the deals that are worthwhile mean the owner loses money on the combo/deal.

        • It’s kinda how franchises work. They should have known when they bought into it.

My 7-11 petrol station owner was excitedly telling me about this deal, thinking I didn't know about it. And I usually only bought a coffee from here, and not petrol. Pretty sure if he was losing money, he wouldn't go out of his way to tell me about the Happy Hour between 1pm - 3pm.

      • This link suggests that a cup of coffee costs 98c to make for ingredients only. (Beans, milk, cup + lid)

        https://www.fishriverroasters.com.au/blog/how-much-does-it-c…

Either way, as a loss leader or not, if it brings in patronage/loyalty, it will always be a plus.

        • not really, if that is the only thing that customer will buy. so 2 cents to cover staff wage, rent, electricity? lol

          • @scarh24: It only takes 1 person to buy a candy bar or fuel to make it worth.

      • he clearly doesn't know much about GP, probably just a manager, not owner

      • you can ask him if he makes money on it. lol

    • Great, they don't lose money on everything else that costs triple though.

  • +1

    Thanks OP

  • I love me a 7/11 coffee. Wakes me up. That's all I need. A friend in need.

  • +2

Like the good ol'days of $1 coffee.

  • I do buy these, but I have to say the taste/quality is absolutely shockingly rock bottom since the good old days of 6-12 months ago.

Now it tastes like watered down ashtray water, with a hint that there might be a single grain of actual coffee in it somewhere if you're lucky.

Same at both of the Melb CBD locations I go to.

And yes, I'll still buy it, but doesn't mean I'm happy about it.

But if cheapness is your main criteria, just get the nescafe or moccona satchets from coles which end up around 40c each.

  • They couldn't pay me to drink this rank coffee. Metro take the wooden spoon on coffee though.
