Caution: Their Grade B is basically unusable.

Their Grade A could be as bad as B

      • Nah, got a A-grade Dell Latitude 5300 2-in-1 laptop and it was pretty much mint. No scratches on the screen at all.

You got lucky my friend, very lucky.

I have mentioned in other posted and other echoed itntoo, the only time you should buy from them is via eBay so you are covered with the guaranteed return policy.

First thing I got from them I was happy to call it grade A. The next 3 things (few weeks ago) not so much. Pretty banged up exterior case, front PC panel doesn't sit straight/flush, etc. Only cosmetic issues that I can tell though.

        • Same here, have purchased 2x Dell 7400 2-in-1s (months apart) and both were like new, besides one tiny mark on the side, I assume from the previous user's watch, had to look really hard to even see it.

I received a Grade B for Grade A purchase, i contacted them and they were able to sort this out and the second one i received was good quality with minor paint scratches on the corners. Happy with their service.

Has been my experience as well, several items purchased to date, and only one was a bit rough. They swapped it out without any trouble, really pleased with the whole thing and will buy more from them as needed.

IMO it's best to stick to eBay where you have decent protection and easy returns..

Make sure to downgrade 1 or 2 levels as the condition is not not as good as stated

  • Tempted by the $59 evoko panel… Although not having much luck finding if I could use it with home assistant

  • Looking at the 9500t 7070 optiplex for my rents - they have a 6500T and it's annoying to manually push windows updates everytime a new feature release comes out.

What are the changes the 9500t CPU will be a good long-term investment/windows will support it into whatever windows 12 equivalent will be?

I wanted to get them an N150 system, but because it's for them, I don't want to buy from AE, and only want to stick to more known brands (beelink, minisforum) other than 'minipc' no names.. I figure the N150 will be supported longer/use less power (marginally). Just for emails/web browsing. So the performance difference isn't a massive factor.

    • I think any speculation on Windows support is going to be dubious. Windows feature updates are only once a year so I don't think it is too hard to keep that going and that is my plan as well for a 6500 based system.

Looking at the changes to the CPUs there isn't a lot changed feature wise between 6th - 10th gen. 11th gen brought AV1 decode which is useful.
MS will most likely keep cutting off supported CPUs just based on how old they are and not the feature set due to the amount of security issues found in CPUs over the last few years.

I haven't looked into MiniPCs much yet but I don't think any of the Chinese brands are particularly good on long term support like BIOS updates.
You will most likely have better long term Windows support with N100 mini PC than a 9th gen though.

Benefit of the Dell/HP/Lenovo stuff is you can buy a model with vPro support and you could in theory manage the machine remotely.

Or just switch to Linux which is something I am pondering for some other perfectly usable devices my parents have.

I am starting to think there should be a quality guarantee for refurbished PCs posted to OzBargain.

These companies get huge exposure from deals posted here, and the customer shouldn't be the quality control.

I am not expecting Mint Conditions for a 2nd hand product, but if you have Grading Reports that are not matched, there should be some indication for the company when one of their deals makes the site.

Yeah I raised this once with ACT, https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/16611553/redir for the thread. Basically the volume of stock they go through isn't viable to individually grade and check with a fine tooth comb, and there will be variations within each grade.. But it still does also seem like there's no specific strict guide they use - it's possible it may also be up to whoever happens to look at the time, and what that person considers as 'x' grade.

Yet another reason to buy through eBay - there's pretty clear guidelines there as to grading, and easy exchanges when the grading isn't met on your item.

If I'm a low-paid tech dealing with pallets of refurb stock every single day (i.e. thousands of laptops), it would be super easy to miss 'small' marks on one item (0.1% of your daily QC) versus a paying customer only looking at every single imperfection on the one device they received (100% of your daily QC). At least easy returns make this less of an issue.
