Jaycar normal prices are at a premium for what you could find online, but you can drive there right now and buy something. With the sale, some of these are cheaper than what you can normally get at places like Cubic Technology.
There are a few eSun PLA+ colours at $19.95 (normally $44.95 at Jaycar, or $25.95 at Cubic).
Some eSun silk at $24.95 (normally $39.95 at Jaycar, $26.95 at Cubic).
Other brands also on sale, like Creality and Flashforge.
More than 50% off 3D Printer Filaments: e.g. Esun White PLA+ $19.95 + $7.95 Delivery ($0 C&C/ in-Store/ $99.01 Order) @ Jaycar

Hey, just wanted to drop my 2 cents
I used Elegoo PLA+ with my bambu a1, prints beautifully on the esun PLA+ profile within bambu studio. No issues on my side, can't speak for PETG though but.. . same brand hahaThanks mate. They have the Elegoo PLA+ and Rapid PLA there too with, dare I say it about JayCar, competitive pricing.
What are the bed and extruder temp values?
found the profiles at https://www.esun3d.com/uploads/HS-Parameters-for-Bambu-Lab.r… but it only shows fan speed etc?

Nozzle: 220 degrees
Bed/Textured Plate: 65 degrees@dntfkwthunicrns: Oh, that's good, I can give it a try on my Aquila X2 at 220/65 then, I usually print eSun PLA+ at 215/60. I saw that we need to upgrade the tubing to use PETG on Ender clones; otherwise, they will disintegrate and could be unhealthy.
@bazingaa: Yeah she'll be right mate, for me I haven't moved from PLA or PLA+ yet, with all the research I've done I'm just getting so many varied responses between balancing the load ratings of PLA/PLA+ and PETG as well as whether they'll last long in the elements and heat/UV.
From my own testing, my models have held 210kgs on PLA without any stretch or signs of failure. (think of my model as a rectangular box where the load is pulling the longer sides apart)
@dntfkwthunicrns: The issue with PLA and load is heat and creep. Too much heat and it will soften, and over time if there is any load it will creep (droop) over time. It also degrades in the sun as it's an organic substance.
PETG is almost always the better choice for functional parts (until you get to filaments that need heated chambers) unless you need something with ne flex.
@bazingaa: Better to get an all metal hotend for your Aquila. Any PTFE tubing in the hotend is not going to be great at higher temps tbh.
@NigelTufnel: Any recommendations mate? I was going to try PTFE at 220/65 first, as per the above comment. Would 220 be too much?
@bazingaa: For PLA? 220 will print fine and PTFE should be okay. Anything around 240 I'd say move to all metal. So for PETG and TPU (though you're not going to want to be printing TPU on the Aquila without modding to direct drive).
I got one of these for my Aquila, the other benefit of this over PTFE is that where the tube meets the metal is not in the hot zone, so the likelihood of leakage causing a clog is greatly reduced.
To be fair, my Aquila has been retired now as there are far more capable printers for not a lot of money available now.@NigelTufnel: Thanks mate! I got a translucent Elegoo rapid PETG from this deal and tried with 220/80, printed well on the stock printer.
:/ there's no black.. why is there never any black in stock in this filament (it's out in elegoo's site too)
There was black, I bought some. This deal is 5 days old.
My bambulab A1 was delivered yesterday, and I drive past a jaycar everyday coming home from work.
I’ll just grab a couple.
Good info !
Nice! Are there any downsides to prototyping filament? Is it inferior or just different?
Could be wrong, but I'd assumed it was the same quality but that the colour was inconsistent from batch to batch?
I think its meant to be a "high speed" filament
@Shiroi Okami: Quite the opposite according to the description on the page. Geez.
This filamant is from a recognised manufacturer and is so cheap you can use it for everyday Protoyping without breaking the bank.
It is PLA so will not run well at high speeds but is well suited to slower speed printing.
50 mm/s recommended :/
@FlyerOne: I usually print with that at 150% on my Aquila X2, with gcode speeds of 100 print/120 travel
@Shiroi Okami: No, it doesn't have a definition. It really just means "cheap". A lot of 'prototyping' filament will print at the same speed as regular PLA, but just doesn't look great (bad finish, inconsistent colour, etc) or isn't as 'strong'.
Just like PLA+ doesn't have a definition and is different across brands. It just means PLA with 'something' added.
I think its meant to be a "high speed" filament
I've used both the black and white prototyping filament. I can't see any difference between this and the basic Bambu PLA I have.
FWIW, I have run about 10x rolls of this prototyping filament through my h2d. No dramas at all except for one instance.
I ran into some really strange errors, feeder motor overloaded or something like that - and I was unable to extrude no matter what.
It took a few mins to get to the bottom of it - it seems the filament was joined mid-roll, and where it was fused, it was thicker than the 1.75mm so it was getting jammed - but of course, black on black inside of the head, it was not visible.
Anyway, I trimmed an inch or so off and voila.
So, my thoughts are that maybe there were some QC issues, like what I experienced, so they rolled them out cheap (excuse the pun).
The finish is also not as nice as eSun, Bambu premium rolls. It's also 30% of the price …
Anyway at $10 / kg, I'm going to pick up a dozen or so!
Have used this and it seems fine, not sure what makes it prototyping by name, perhaps just colour
That was $15 a few weeks ago, down from $20 I think.
It is good, seems they are on half price special
This goes "ok" on a K1 Max, cheap and accessible enough to use literally for prototyping and sizing things up in a pinch, but a pretty ugly result compared to pretty much anything else I've ever used.
I found using <25% infill though it would keep separating from the solid bottom layers, and even then it was iffy
Can't believe I'm saying this about Jaycar :P , but pretty reasonable price for the times you only want 1 roll of something.
The typical deals usually need multiples like Jayo multi-buys or Sidd to average out the shipping costs.Their prices are obscene. I had them say once we'll give you 10% off if you buy ten. I was like I can buy online for 20, why on earth would I pay 34 per.
Shopback has 5% cashback on Jaycar gift cards as well, so save an extra few bucks.
Thanks bought a ton of prototyping filament
Thanks, there was an ecoupon called loyalty200 in my account for an extra $10 off
$19.95 why not buy from Bambu? Are they better than Bambu's?
How much are Bambu filaments?
That might be your answer.
$36 if you only want one roll. If you want to pay $20 each, you have to buy 6+ and that doesn't include the spool, so you will use most of a roll just printing 6 spools.
To answer the question - eSun is pretty similar to BambuLab filament, but even at these sale prices, you're not saving a lot compared with other reputable brands. The advantage is being able to walk into a store to avoid shipping costs (and probably get it sooner), and if you only want 1-2 rolls, you still pay the cheaper price.
I have a Jaycar 2 minutes from my door so the buy 1 roll for something specific is handy, and from all reports the elegoo is quite good so I bought a roll of the Rapid PETG and some $10/roll prototyping PLA which seems reasonable enough for Jaycar pricing.
I bought some rolls from the local Jaycar and did a test print. Seems to work pretty good? Bought a ton more online. Should keep me busy for quite some time.
I meant to say the Creality "Prototyping" filament. It's printing beautifully. The worst part is I realised that I had a Jaycar voucher sitting on my desk from ages ago. Completely forgot to use it. Perhaps I will have to buy even more??
My delivery order arrived the day after I ordered. Happy with what I received. Really shouldn't tempt me to buy any more.
EDIT: Don't forget to dry your filament y'all
There ae a couple of deals there for ePLA, but then I noticed the Elegoo rapid PETG is all $19.95 and the Elegoo PETG Pro will be $24.95 when they get stock. I haven't used either of them but will definitely check them out. Have any other 3d printer users here tried the Elegoo product?
