MK808 Android TV Stick - $49.68 Delivered + Other Stuff

52

Hey Guys

DX is having a sale on certain items in their "Australian" warehouse, this item stood out to me.

Before you complain it's from DX, this is from their AUS Direct warehouse which I've used before. It's not technically shipping from within Australia, rather shipping express via TOLL from their Shenzhen warehouse. But it's still pretty damn fast from what I've experienced, even down to the processing and packaging of my order. http://imgur.com/SovVAT8 I confirmed delivered order a few days late it actually came in on the 14th so exactly a week to arrive. Here is the shipping code as proof - http://www.tollglobalexpress.com/tracking.aspx?cn=5560602982…

These have all been posted many times before but if you don't know what it is, it just turns your HDMI enabled tv into an android smart tv.

Other stuff on sale - http://e.dx.com/promotion/au-direct-coupons/index.html

TrustFire TR-3T6 Torch on sale - The advertised lumens isn't that high but it's still amazingly bright (3x XM-L T6 emitters) A quick google will show you it's been reviewed pretty positively so if you're looking for a massive torch this is a pretty good bet.

60$ Allwinner A13 tablet - Pretty standard entry level chinese tablet specs, but at this price it's kind of a throwaway and reviews are alright http://club.dx.com/reviews/text/148466
800x480 screen
A13 Chipset (Cortex A8, Mali400 Gpu)
crappy battery

    Sorry no deal
http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Free-Shipping-New-MK808-Dual-… US $47.90 and free delivery to Australia

    • +1

Lol can you really compare aliexpress shipping to this? I simply posted because despite the slightly higher price you get it alot faster which -some- people are willing to pay.

      • -2

They both come from China or Hong Kong, so why cant you compare?

        • +7

Did you even read the post and links? The delivery only took 5 days via TOLL Express and you're gonna compare CN/HK Airmail to that? Really? Have you even bought anything from china before? Even their EMS is pretty damn slow.

edit: Clearly you have from your post below, so I don't understand why the neg on my comment then.
Can you tell me how is airmail delivery times comparable to that?

        • +1

5 days to come from within australia?

The Neg was because the price is more.

        • +2

Except if you're in WA or NT, then we don't get the TOLL express delivery…

        • I meant neg on comment assuming it was you, I understand why you neg the deal because of a lower price.

No from China but the fact is the delivery speeds are incomparable. The price you pay is for the Product + Shipping
          Product = Identical
Shipping = Different, regardless of the fact that their origin is the same.

        • 5 days to come from within australia?

yea i was under the impression that once you order it gets mass shipped to aus then sent out via toll?

        • Nah, look at my shipping code.
          http://www.tollglobalexpress.com/tracking.aspx?cn=5560602982…
Sent directly from Shenzhen but actually fast.

      • I wouldn't rely on anything coming from DX in any short span of time. They are useless with logistics. I've blacklisted them after they took 5 months to ship Christmas lights from their "AU Warehouse" among other things.

        Mod: removed bad language

        • That was their previous actual "AU Warehouse" where they actually had stock located in Australia. Most Chinese websites have abandoned that model to sell to Australia. I'm assuming because it's expensive to keep stock here, customs would make it hard to import bulk amounts of certain items and labour costs would also be alot higher.

The new one either has its own separate team/facility or they just prioritise it more because I made two orders when I did mine and the Australian one was prepped and sent a few days earlier than the standard airmail one.

MK809 is better to spend money on http://www.aliexpress.com/item/MK809-II-Android-4-1-Mini-PC-… US $54.98

    • Trying to find… whats the difference between the MK808 and MK809 other than aesthetics?
Seems like they still use the same chipset, except there's less of a community for the 809

      • +1

I think just blue tooth. stick with 808, heaps better roms and community support never had problems with mine

  • Buy neo g4 instead…. Better reviews.

  • MK808 is very problematic, has issues with Wifi and HDMI flickering. Avoid this model.

    • Damn I guess I shouldve checked more about the model, Just assumed since previous deals of it was +'ved quite a bit it seemed to be an okay product.

    • +7

I got a MK808 and had no issues with Wifi or HDMI.

How do I fit a DVD innit?

  • +12

you put the DVD in your behind and the unit up your nose and bam,it plays on the TV.

  • Is it possible to connect Ethernet to these bad boys via usb-to-ethernet??

    • +1

      yeah you can with this

      http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/261138944751?ssPageName=STRK:MEWN…

i have 2 of these works with finless bob rom and i think default should work,

honestly better to spend the extra $15 and buy a NEO G4 workmanship on my MK808 is a joke the antenna wires were soldered together shorting itself out, stock rom when i got it was rubbish couldn't even connect to my wifi.
HDMI issue is sorted with custom roms available on freaktab.com and some wifi issues.

despite that it runs pretty good on ethernet 720p in xbmc is good (with the h/w acceleration work around)
and there linux support if your so inclined.
overall performance is pretty good light years ahead of the mk802
i'm going to get a GK802 to replace it as soon as it becomes a bargain :)

Ordered 2 USB cables from them. Took 2 months to get to AU. I complained after 5 weeks of not receiving it, they told me if I don't get it in another 2 weeks they'll look at it.
Bottom line is, if you are in no rush, and happy with this kind of service, good luck to you. Much rather buy on ebay with paypal protection.

    • I'd agree because that's normally the case with DX and their standard free airmail shipping. But if you check again what I posted this is from their AU Direct shipping which took 7 days to arrive from ordering

edit: I feel like a record machine lol I posted in the deal that the shipping is different and even post links to prove it yet people comment like its still airmail

    • Do what my beloved Mummy does: tell them you're going to reverse the payment (failure to deliver goods within the advertised timeframe is a valid reason under the new Australian Consumer Law). Upside: if they have already dispatched the item, they now rely on you to be honest.

My beloved Mummy is an expert in ways to concentrate the mind of the misbehaving seller: it occasionally has even greater upside… she wound up with 2 All Blacks World Cup 'puffy coats' (I dunno what you call them… horrible things) when one she had ordered did not turn up in a timely fashion (3 weeks had elapsed).

The seller over-nighted the replacement (at no cost to my beloved Mummy) and both coats arrived on the same day - in time for my beloved Mummy & Daddy to go to NZ to watch the semi-finals. She even offered to (a) pay for the second coat; or (b) freight it back unopened (at the seller's cost)… but the seller just said "Nah - keep it." (The diffidence of call-centre folk is a two-edged sword).

Try this seller from ebay: MK808 (comes with JB) plus RC12 air mouse for ~ $56.38
I have bought one and took advantage of Paypal $10 coupon

Although they sold the similar deal for ~$8 less couple of weeks ago
Seems legit - no scams however I have asked the seller couple of questions and still no answer yet
(At least you have Paypal in case something goes wrong)

  • Pretty inefficient company. Tried to buy the $20 android Tv player last time it was on deal. It took them two weeks to find out that they don't have stock. They sent me $5 coupon as an apology gift which didn't work either. Would like to stay away from them in future.

    • The coupon worked for me !

Ordered one of these for my room.

I also noticed a mid-spec 6" (Note II-sized) phone, for $183 delivered. 512Mb RAM seems a tad low to run 4.1.1, but the rest seems fine - the only reason I wouldn't submit it as a deal is the hostility of OzBers to (a) DX; and (b) knockoff phones from the Continent of Asia (remember to say from the Continent of Asia in a WWF ring announcer voice: Tiger Ali Singh should be a meme).

  • So my MK808 arrived today (I ordered it last week, so kudos to DX for fast delivery).

So; now my telly has SMS (through MightyText for tablet, synced with my Android phone), Skype and internet. One really cool thing is that with MightyText I can SMS from my telly, and - get this - you get notifications on the TV when you receive a text (in case the phone's in the next room or whatever).

My Logitech K400 keyboard/trackpad started working the moment I plugged its adapter into the USB hub I attached to the MK808, so that's ace (I'm typing this comment on the telly).

One thing that I have not been able to do yet, is get a bluetooth dongle to work (so I can use Skype). I've been at it for 5 whole minutes and done 2 google searches, which can hardly be considered a comprehensive effort.

Mine came with Android 4.1.1, and I am totally pleased with it. The wifi streaming (from other PCs on our home net) is WAY better than I thought it would be, and there were no issues connecting it to our samba net.
