Has anyone used this kind of ISP who have their own network? Would it be easy to go back to the regular NBN Network provider?

  • Coverage area seems to be limited

  • Price seems unrealistic cheap and wayyy too fast. Scammy looking

  • Available in certain areas of Sydney and Melbourne only, from what I can see.

Yeah, I live in a pretty central area, and they couldn’t do our address. Disappointing, but I’m glad to see a company taking upload speeds seriously!

  • I do not comment on their service - as I have no experience.

It looks to me that they are collecting data - the address data for where they are going to expand the next.

They do not have a clear coverage map on their website. It asks you to input your address.

With all the addressess they will find out the hot spots…

Anyway, it is good as we see another boardband supplier other than starlink and nbn and…

I have, it depends on the situation. If NBN is already in the building then Gigacomm will be available next to it - they can't remove existing NBN connections. I'm sure there are buildings where they have bought in an exclusive deal and will eventually screw over all the residents in that building due to lack of competition. But if you're on NBN and Gigacomm is available, you can always switch back to NBN again.

People are calling the price scammy but it's just economics, it's way cheaper to build a big pipe to a densely populated building than roll it out to an entire country. With NBN those in cities are subsidising the cost for those in the country.

There's a good reason it's only available in apartment buildings - and for anyone who has it they should 100% take advantage of it.

    • Thanks for sharing,

I'm currently with Exetel on the regular NBN, I'll give this a go in that case.

      Thanks

      • Do you have nbn FTTP, FTTN, FTTC, FTTB or HFC?

        • HFC

            @Christnanto: I'd take the free 3 months.

250/100, 500/50, 1000/100, 2000/100 is coming to nbn HFC mid September.

I'm a Gigacomm customer, moved from TPG FTTB to Gigacomm 1000/100 and very happy with the connection. The changeover from TPG to Gigacomm was simple, and changing back to TPG or to NBN would be just as easy. A technician needs to come out and patch your phone line into the providers equipment in your building.

Limited coverage as they need to install a roof antenna + equipment in building comms rooms to provide service to each building.

  • Can't get an answer to what they actually do to the copper in the apartment to accept their hardware, and how much it costs to revert back to NBN one day.

    • I did this so I can answer.

They change the cabling between the NBN Termination Point into your building to your phone line coming into your apartment to be routed via their equipment instead.

If you leave them and decide to go back to the NBN, you'll need an NBN technician to come out and change the cabling back to the NBN again which they may charge for. (I was fortunate that they didn't in my case), Gigacomm will not do this for you.
