Looks to be a well regarded gaming keyboard from reviews, optical switches are fast and very durable but can feel overly sensitive for some (1mm actuation, half that of many mechanical keys).

  • Would a keychron K10 be better?

    • Pros and cons to both. The K10 is hot swappable but I believe it only has ABS keycaps so not as good for longevity.

At this price is probably comes down to personal preference, I thought I'd give the optical switches a go but if I was going for a pure mechanical I would probably have gone for the K10.

      • Get a v6 then?

      • Overall longevity with the Keychron will be better

If a switch dies or starts playing up, it's an easy fix. If this K70 starts playing up, you're dead in the water unless you want to bother desoldering and tinkering around with disassembling the keyboard.

And honestly it's not like you're gonna wear a hole through the ABS keycaps; they'll shine quicker but that's about it really.

        • Tbf my last corsair keyboard lasted me 9 years no issues of constant use. Upgraded to keychron recently and it definitely feels nicer

  • I have one of these and I'm extremely happy with it. I've had it for quite a while now. Being able to unplug it from the back of the keyboard and slide the wrist wrest off means two things… 1) no stupid tabs to break making the wrist wrest useless and 2) it's so easy to run it downstairs to the air compressor to blow all of the crap out of it.

  • My wife got me one for my bday about year ago? (paid full price, ouch!) (or was it two), i don't think i use it as effectively as i could could (overkill for me), it does glows blue with the rest of my case and monitor though.

  • If you're after a gaming keyboard, shouldn't one be looking for a hall-effect keyboard?

If you're looking for a new mech and gaming isn't your priority, there are tons of better options in terms of aesthetics, sound, build quality and value than this K70 imo.

  • I had the K100 with the same switches. 6 of the LEDs in the switches malfunctioned within a year.
