What was the rrp for this? $6.5k?
There's always one dude lmao
Seems to be delivery only as it's OOS in every store, at least in VIC anyway.
14 inch deal is better imo
For $500 more you get
2 extra p cores
16 inch screen
10 extra gpu cores
12gb extra ramafter having a 15" air could never go smaller
@compound: yeah laptops always cost more for less performance
(but they are portable and it's cool sitting at the cafe with a macbook)
@compound: Yeah I'm not sure I'd want to lug that around in a foreign country whilst travelling. Perfectly fine on short commutes to work, and to the local cafe, but trying to juggle a full size laptop whilst on an overseas trip is pushing it for me.
@t25: I lug my 16" interstate all the time, but I need the screen real estate and grunt, and I am not backpacking it around.
I picked up one one of those 14" M2 Max's from here a couple weeks back after my 16" M1 Max was taken, but miraculously returned a week after. Would definitely have preferred to have bought this M3 over the M2 as I find the 14" a bit too compact. I feel like my hands are crammed up on the keyboard. However the weight difference between the two is massive. I'm use to lugging the 16" around, but when travelling and if you need to save as many grams or kg's as possible than the 14" is a great option.
Portability > Performance
To be fair the 16" is not that impractical as a size, it only weighs around 2kg.
I still remember carrying around old Dell Latitudes, Toshiba Dynabooks, and Thinkpads which were that weight or even more daily for work for many years over the past two decades.
@p1 ama: Not when you're as mobile as me.
Tried lugging around a 16 inch all over the place and was a pain for my user experience.
Ok to bring it to the workplace but if you're constantly moving in and out and lugging it on you for frequent and long distances, the answer will come to you.@p1 ama: Extra 500g kicks in when you're travelling a lot. Roaming around with the 16" is a pain if you're nomadic like me.
@compound: Sure, but what percentage of users are "nomadic" vs just primarily putting in a backpack to lug between an office and home?
@p1 ama: Subjective cuz, just like how people were initially downvoted for saying 8gb wasn't enough. Just another input of user experience vs wow 16 inch is the perfect laptop etc.
@compound: Insert digital nomad content creator AI figurine image here đ.
Heaps of those hippie (profanity) in Chiang Mai and Pai.
Insane OP, just placed an order.
Me too, just ordered. Get in quick!
cool story bro
F OOS
What the actual - insane price.
Paid $4500 last year for mine after going through a staff discount!Got the 36gb one for 2.9k
Damn, also missed it
Got 36GB. Not as good
Added to cart, then showed as OOS. Probably worked out well since I don't need one.
I am seeing this now, still no regrets. I wants some 15" air at affordable price.
F even 32GB OOS
nice price! congratulations whoever got this. MBP 16 FTW
rocking M1 Max MBP 16 with 64/2tb. 32 GPU cores. no reason to upgrade..
these tricky unpredictable MBP sellouts lol
Uh…. Still hold the M2 8G Air..
Just managed to get one delivered. Thank you.
That is a lot of money to spend on a laptop.
With a 1080p camera and no gaming
Plenty of other uses other than gaming lol
facebook and insta!
That's crazy price!
Any gift cards currently in promotion for more discount to use at Officeworks?
I managed to order one, I was talking in other post regarding 14 vs 16 and amount of RAM. End up buying this one, but black colour. I can see OW changed my order status from "processing" to "shipped"
Order date Total Status
02/08/2025 $3,194.00 Shipped
My order is being reviewed… Whatever that means fingers crossed.
Any changes?
Bro it's all sold out
Bro Black 36 16" is not
Any luck in store asking them to change the payment method on collection? I ordered for C&C.
And i thought i got a good deal when i got the Microsoft Surface Book 2 for $299 few months back :P
This would be an AI beast.
Believe it or not, not everyone needs a laptop for games. Software is fine if you learn it.
steam literally has a mac category. a lot of professionals use them. windows 11 is doing a pretty good job at selling macs at the moment.
Well played.
Holy crap! Thatâs a steal
I managed to order the 14 inch M3 max black as it showed still in stock. vic. But it's saying processing.. fingers crossed.
The cpu is loud?
Great find OP - honestly I was out all day and just saw this! Iâm in the market for a 16â MBP (m4) but waited for tax return to come first. This deal would have been bloody amazing, argh!
I called Blacktown, NSW and the one available on the checker is now sold apparently. Grrrr!!!
BiggieSmalls the Telstra iPhone man from WP :)
Only OGâs remember! ;)
Sorry that was me. I bought that blacktown one
m3 Max (this) or m4 pro base?
M4 pro is more efficient if you care about that (more battery life). This has more raw power which you wonât use unless youâre doing intense shit.
if you know you need Max, you need Max. if you don't know, you don't need Max.
and you only need it if you do super intensive in memory stuff (AI locally for example), or do HEAVY video processing encoding (dual encoders).
otherwise you don't need Max. if you don't know what Apple Metal is, m4 is for you. otherwise in Apple Metal benchmark M1 Max 32 Core still beats M4 Pro base, M3 Max does too.
AI noise reduction in Lightroom is better with a Max too.
username checks out ;)
are you sure it's better? not faster?
I use Luminar, and noise reduction is the same between M1 Pro and M1 Max, just the Max is noticeably faster.
same about object selection (AI powered) in Affinity Photo. and some other AI powered features in Luminar (they are Apple Metal optimised)
@shabaka: Sorry, bad choice of words. Faster not better! (The extra cores in the Maxes are what make the difference.)
Should check ozbargain more frequently, missed it
Cancellations going out
What's with these massive discounts? Seems like Apple might be replacing these fatbook pros soon with thinner ones.
just last gen sellouts
I have a feeling my under review order is going to be cancelled…
Where does it say under review?
First email said under review. Got a confirmation email ~30 mins later.
"We are currently reviewing your order. Given the current demand, you may experience a delay in receiving an order confirmation.
Once our review is completed, we will send you an order confirmation email and then start the process of getting your order ready."
Check email you would have gotten, my order was cancelled 30 mins after the review email. Oversell I am thinking
Which model did you buy?
@postform: 14 inch 36GB, im somewhat pissed as they cancelled this one, and then I tried to order 18gb 1TB
That got cancelled too, so I am wondering if my account is flagged in some way?
Payment went through with no issues
@mrfuku: I ordered the same one. 14 inch black 36 gb 14/30 max chip. So, they cancelled yours? Cause if that's the case - I think you might have missed out by literally 15-20 mins. Cause I got an email saying it's on backorder.
Any updates ?
No updates.
Update, they emailed me saying they are out of stock and I'm on a back order.
If I'm happy to wait I can receive it, if not then I can request for a cancellation.
Not sure if y'all got that too?
Yeah i got the backorder one too
Those who received confirmation email, Congratulation. At $3194 it's a steal. Even refurbished ones with same spec apple sells for $5399 https://www.apple.com/au/shop/product/FUW63X/A/refurbished-1âŚ
Devastated i missed out literally exactly what I was looking for, any chance it comes back into stock? I see stock checkers still saying it's there but there's none :(
Let me know if anyone's Click and collect in sydney they don't want anymore lol
Very Happy with my M1 Pro 16". Will upgrade when OLED models come out.
In the same boat. Initially rumoured for late this year but now they are saying 2026.
rocking M1 Max, no reason to upgrade. yes M4 is more efficient, but not deal breaker.. at any rate, if I go 1:1 on RAM and storage, M4 Max will set me back $6500, so what the hell.
I reckon, by the time my M1 Max bites the dust, I'll pick up M4 for nickels (because M9 will be out)
What are people doing with a 3.2k laptop? Surely your work demands it and you're not just looking up pr0nz? I can justify spending this type of money on a TV but not on a laptop. I guess I just don't value laptops as much as I do TVs.
You don't have the use case for one….you have more requirement for a big tv. It's not better or worse or right or wrong, it's just your own personal needs.
Seriously? Surely youâre taking the piss. Also lots of people are content with a $800 TV.
No, I'm not taking the piss. I don't see the point of a laptop this expensive unless my job demands it
Sounds like you don't need one.
4k pron on the TV..I paid about $3k for my 15inch Macbook Pro in 2019. Still going strong, they last double the time over Windows laptops
Possibly yes for notebooks, my PC I built in COVID 2020 still goin' strong. Sounds like yours is still running well and no need to upgrade yet
