Roughly 20% off from the long established "sale" prices given below:
    Q Acoustics 3010i $279
    Q Acoustics 3020i $384
    Q Acoustics 3030i $489
    Q Acoustics 3050i $979

Also keep in mind that you need an amp to power the speakers which goes for almost $100 for budget options.

A warning for the Australia Post haters, they use them. I ordered components to make up a 5.0 system when the prices dropped, and saw the items scattered in all directions in the (disorganised) Australia Post delivery van when it arrived. Arrived quickly though.

I have 3030i's and they bang.

Don’t like that they are wired. What’s the alternative but wireless, Sonos? Keen for well priced ands sound for a small man cave, out of a spare bedroom…….any help welcome as not a audiophile

  • Currently rocking rhe MR4s and a Presonus sub for my PC setup. Is it worth swapping over to passive speakers with these. And what amp would allow me to still use the sub.

    • Same I'm using MR4 for PC

    • +2

Not sure of budget but the WiiM Amp is great with built in streaming and sub configuration works real nice with crossover.
Plenty of cheaper Amps around but cheaper amps often allow sub out but only the full frequency range.
I have both sizes of the former Q Acoustic speakers in my home office and living room, great value but for PC use not sure you need to upgrade

      • +1

+1 for pairing with a WiiM amp, great amp if you want in built streaming. Multi room syncing also great if paired with other WiiM devices.
I love my WiiM amp, got it for $294 on a cash back deal.

        • Nice price! I got mine off eBay 22% off I think so $389

Is it stupid to buy bookshelf speakers as near-field monitors?

    • +2

No but you want something more neutral in sound. This is not the case. But if you have the really close you might play them too low for them to shine.

    • +1

I tried the 3020i as nearfield monitors on my desk, and couldn't get them to work at all even on IsoAcoustics stands and a tonne of trial and error. It's obviously going to depend on the room you're working with but in my office they were boomy it I was slightly off axis, thin sounding if I was on axis, but sounded excellent out in my open living area. I had to switch them out for a pair of studio monitors with room correction options (e.g. switch for close to wall vs open) and it was a day and night difference.

    • Yes, you won’t be able to get the room set up correctly to get the best out of them

Get studio monitors - this is their purpose

They also have the QB12 Sub for 699 which is a great deal!

Awful company to deal with if anything goes wrong. Strongly advise shopping elsewhere.

    • I had an issue with some Sony headphones that had a noticeable hum. Had a bit of trouble returning them and getting a refund but they relented eventually.

    • I had an issue with Focal headphones, had them over a year and they did a repair no problems at all. I'd buy from them again but not Focal.

      • Focal is the worst company when it comes to warranty, and after sales. It took me one year to get a replacement for a brand new speaker which was found broken, I lifted the raw driver and the magnet fell off. Never again.

    • I had a faulty power supply sent with a JDS Labs amp.
The first replacement was exactly the same. Second replacement was fine. All this process went ok (apart from the fact that they obviously didn't check the first replacement before sending it.

  • Worth upgrading from 2000 series?

    • +1

I have both 2010 and 3010, they’re extremely similar and I doubt you’d find it worthwhile.

  • Good speakers and very unobtrusive looking with the (magnetic) grilles on.

  • These models have been around for many years now? I recall the subs spontaneously dying, repairs not possible

Other speakers and prices get a +ve vote

Wanted to do a budget setup for my tv aeound the lounge room

Any suggestions for total 1k amount.
Was going to install into the wall

    Centre speaker
    Subwoofer
    ?

    This a good brand?

    • +1

I'm not familiar with in-wall systems but from a brief look I think you'd struggle to fit that in budget, from this brand at least.

Q3030i + stands + Q3090i seems like a pretty reasonable setup at $800. Add a marketplace receiver and as much sub as your SO will allow lol

  • Are any of these good for desk speakers?
Looking for an option to plug into my Mac Studio.

    • +2

Look at a studio monitor instead as desk speakers. Something from Adam Audio would work well, like the T3V or T5V if you want something a bit bigger.

  • I got the 5010s at the same price for an apartment 2.1 setup for the TV. Very solid speakers at this price (probably not at RRP).

  • Are the prices for single or pair? I think they're pairs lol

    • +2

      Pairs!

  • +1

I have a 5.1 set up with these speakers and highly recommend. I have heard you are better off getting a different subwoofer though as the Q3060s can be underpowered.

  • I have the older 2020 and 2010's and they are just remarkable little speakers.

  • Great value here. I have 3020i for casual listening in our living space and they perform admirably. Wanted to add 3060S sub but it's not discounted in the walnut finish 😥

  • Had these with a yamaha amplifier, never got them to work or sound amazing. Ultimately rid them after 5 years and replaced with samsung soundbar and woofer. More fulfilling sound and amazing in movies. Space saving as well. Do your homework and if not savvy with configs and settings dont bother.

I tried all settings and combinations, levels using db meter, wires etc. Couldnt get them to sound half decent.

    • What did you have and which Yamaha amp? I just got the 3030i speakers and the 3060S sub and was planning on getting a Yamaha A-S301 or A-S501 (price depending). Interesting to hear your issues.

  • Which ones would you recommend as rears?

    • If you currently have floor standers you could go 3030 rears but if you have bookshelf for your L and R you can go with 3010 or 3020

      • +1

Thanks! Yeah have two floor standing KEFs, just want some temp rears and a centre for 5.1.

  • Had my white 3010is with a sabaj amp as my battle station speakers for about 6 years I reckon, great speakers

Always wondered if I needed a subwoofer. Anyone tried theirs ?

  • Already own the 5020s which I purchased a few months ago for the same price. Really highly recommend them. They sounds great and they also look great which was vital to convince the wife. Adding the QB12 subwoofer from this deal is now seriously tempting.

  • Any suggestions for a front firing sub?

    • Choices and recommendations depends a lot on your budget and expectations. There are so many to choose from.

Start with doimg a search for sealed subwoofers first. They are almost all front front firing. There are not too many down firing sealed subs. Then have a look at front firing, front ported subs.

Personally I prefer sealed subs. 2 reasons, they are usually smaller, and the frequency response doesn't roll off so sharply compared to ported subs when they hit their port tuning frequency. Also less chance of the speaker bottoming out, as in hitting its xmax and distorting. Not much of an issue these days with modern well designed subs with DSP etc.

However, as a generalisation, but not the rule, ported subs can go a bit lower and louder for a lesser price than an equivalent performing sealed sub would cost.

Suggestions from personal experience for a good reasonably priced sub would be, Rel HT1003, SVS SB1000 Classic. But you are looking at around 1K plus for these.
