  • Here they go again, should I buy this time?

  • +1

This one is not bad too: https://www.digitalcinema.com.au/bowers-wilkins-686-bookshel…

    I'm assuming series 1 though.

  • Being a noob here… I assume I need a decent amp to power these babies for my tv?

    • +2

If you want speakers without having to buy an amp, I suggest looking at the Q Acoustics BT3 speakers. One speaker has the amplifier built in.

They cost about $500 for the pair, but definitely worth it. Great all round speaker!

  • +1

2020 so cheap. Wish I could find a use for them as they are a very nice little speaker!

  • What's the difference between 2020 and 2010i?

    • Have been trying to figure out the same thing. Seems the i series are the newer versions, so 2010 and 2020 are the old models, 2010i and 2020i are newer. They have an upgraded tweeter and better response through mids/bass. According to a few reviews, the side by side difference is quite audible.

I think the cone material in the non-i versions is a paper/mica mix vs a carbon fibre and ceramic coated paper material in the i versions.

Was about to pull the trigger on the 2020s but might hold off :( and the 2010i in white really doesn't fit what I wanted it for.

    • 2020 has a bigger woofer, is a bigger speaker overall, will put out much more bass and overall a better sound. The 2010i is a newer model though so its not bad if you need small speakers.

      • some sites seem to say the 2020 is 4 years older than the 2020i ……. not sure what difference 4 years makes in research and product improvement.

  • Hey OP, what's the difference between the 2000c and the 2000ci?

  • google says the 'i' versions are the newer and improved models. They have an upgraded tweeter and midrange driver, and they are also slightly larger in height and depth. I assume the center speaker is similarly upgraded.

  • Somebody please tell me I don't need these.

You kidding me? Q Acoustics stuff for under $200??? I'm surprised you're still here and not already on the Checkout page

    • +9

Don't kid yourself - you need these. If you miss out, you will never forgive yourself, and we will ridicule you.

I went from considering only the 2020 speakers to spending potentially $300 for free delivery, thanks guys.

      • It's not free shipping for me on the gold coast, thinking of the acoustics 2050i for $699

        • +1

Was going to grab them at $699. Then $70 delivery kind of wrecked it for me. That and they were once $599 with free shipping.

        • @johnno1987: Johnno dont be fooled, they did not offer free delivery in the end. Just like this mob say free delivery over $300, like Rio had free delivery, when it came to the crunch sorry we are not making enough profit to offer free delivery on this item. They weigh around 21k?? each as well.

  • I know nothing about speakers. Is this a good deal?

    • me neither. would like to know as well. it's been about 17 years since i care about any kind of audio setup.

  • +3

Are you clearing the matching subs? In the market for a 2070si

  • wish there were some outdoor ceiling speakers on clearance!

  • Can we just come in purchase in-store?

  • Ouch, careful with the floor standing speakers price is for gloss white and its +$100 to upgrade to gloss black.

  • Rep/Peter, are you about? Live chat is dead.

  • -1

    OP, its you're.

    • +10

      *It's "you're".

      • +3

        Fair enough.

  • Wow, if anybody has any doubts about this, don't. These are amazing speakers for the RRP, so at this price it's a steal. A 3.0 HT system of this calibre for $300?! I would buy it again if I didn't already own them…

  • I am in METRO adelaide and don't get free shipping. wtf.

  • +1

    Any deals going on subwoofers??

    • +1

      I'm also interested in this

While review is okay, the price back in 2010 was GBP 140 only.

    • +1

      Yeah, but Australia tax.
I cry when I read about the recommended 4K set being under $1k, or the high end amps being a "massive" 1000gbp. I wouldn't complain if that was all I had to pay :(

  • What's a good bang for buck stereo amp to pair these speakers with?

  • +1

I need a new sub at home as well.. Is it work spending the $579 on
    https://www.digitalcinema.com.au/q-acoustics-2070i-subwoofer…

  • Do the 2020s need an amp

  • +1

Anyone considering bookshelf speakers would be doing themselves a favour looking at the Wharfedale 220's at JB right now

  • Are the Q Acoustics 2020 speakers suitable for rear speakers on 5.1 setup? How do they compare to say the Pioneer SP-BS22-LR?

    • Yes, and better.

      • Because looking at the specs in comparison it seems that the pioneer does better???

        • +2

Specs don't really mean anything when it comes to sound quality.

    • Both are great value speakers. I have Andrew Jones from Pioneer and love the sound. Speaker preferences are very subjective so it's hard to say which one you'd prefer. $199 for a set of Q Acoustics bookshelves is a ripper price though.

  • How about would the 2020 or bookshelf go with a simple turnable setup?

    • +1

Almost certain you wouldn't get anything better for $199

    • Would go great. I've got a pair of concept 20s, which are essentially 2020s with a slightly different box, as dedicated turntable speakers and I love them. They sound amazing - so good that I ended up adding a streaming box to it and not bothering with my main lounge room floorstanders anymore.

      (Amp is a rotel ra10)

I've also got some 2010s outside on the deck with a chrome cast and a cheap Yamaha s300 (I think. Maybe there is an r in there too) </fanboy>

  • Retail pricing seems a bit exaggerated.

  • +2

Am i missing something, but wouldn't the 2010i from Selby be cheaper because it's free shipping? http://www.selby.com.au/electronics/speakers/bookshelf/q-aco…

    • +1

Nice find! They also have gloss black for the same price.

      • Yeah that's right, and the 'gloss finish' as well

        • The 'Gloss Finish' product page appears to just be a combined page for both the gloss white and gloss black versions.

        • @dm01: Ahhh right, that makes more sense!

    • last year they were 599 (edit: sorry, floor ones i was looking at)

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/198168

  • can someone recommend the cheapest amp possible required
Do i need a sub as well?

    • -1

Sub is definitely needed if you watch movies and/or listen to music with bass - hip hop, techno…

    • +1

You could gumtree practically any HT amp, and it'd sound pretty damn good….

  • Can someone comment on 2020 vs 2020i? Is it enough of an improvement to warrant $70?

  • Pay with Amex for extra $10 off for shop small promo

    • +1

Edit: It looks like Selby is also participating in the shop small promo, so $10 off and free shipping.

  • Can the 2010i run at 4 Ω my amp is 4/8Ω

    • The 2010i has the minimum impedance of 4Ohm (nominal 6Ohm), hence you want an amp that can drive down to 4Ohm. So your amp should be fine.

  • I wanna use the Q acoustics 2010i's as computer speakers does anyone have like a cheap small pre amp that they would recommend?

    • Or is there any cable that I could use to plug them into the computer? Sorry bit of a Noob..

  • So, I am looking at this turntable.
    https://www.storedj.com.au/products/AUD-LP120

I will just be able to hook the speakers straight up yeah? nothing else required?

    • No you will need an amplifier as well

  • +3

Guys seeing is believing, and if its too good to be true it is, especially from this seller. You will find they will have 1 of each if your lucky might have 2, and 1 will be floor stock been used for a few years. remember the non i series is at least 5 years old.
Just hope they have kept the boxes for the 2050i as these are very heavy beasts. Also they need to be matched with a not too "bright" amplifier, or an amplifier with tone controls as they are a touch on the "bright" side, they also lack on the bottom end a little.
If your going to buy the 2050i get a sub woofer as well then you will have a decent sound.
I notice Selby are doing some Q Acoustic deals as well. Personally I would trust them over these guys any day.

    • Just to add in terms of age, the latest series is 30xx which came out almost two years ago with some improvements. Of course, their Concept series is ever so slightly better still.

  • Will wait for the 2020i to go on sale for $199

  • Damn, these offers are too good to refuse but I must resist the temptation to buy. I've already got speakers for every occasion. My PC setup, my movie setup, my music system purely just for listening 2 channel only and oh, also my portability setup (I am looking for some outdoor speakers though for my verandah setup). Damn again. In saying that though, you got any deal on Devialet Phantoms?
