The 36GB 16” seems like great value? $4300 to $4900 at most other stores online, and you get $125ish flybuys points as well. Bloody tempting.

Everyone complains about limited storage, but so few people actually need large storage drives.
You can get an flush MacBook SD to micro SDcard reader it’s not perfect but can add a 2tb micro SD and have plenty of media storage
Is 512gb still considered large storage? On my current work laptop I have a 512gb and 2tb ssd both are full. Various ISOs and programming suites + adobe collection the space goes fast.
Similar industries to you by the looks of it. VMs and dev environment running on vs. Issues will arise one azure ceases in 2027, but till then, space isn't an issue.

when I was moving to Apple silicon 2 years ago, I was worried about the weight and got MBP 14 first. I used it for a year, great machine but it always felt claustrophobic. finally decided what the hell and got MBP 16 instead.
it's totally worth it, screen real estate is priceless. also, speakers are noticeably better than on MBP 14. also it's more comfortable to type on it thanks to larger surface for the wrists. and trackpad is enormous. I have the magic mouse, but it's hardly ever used, the trackpad is so good. but for prolonged sessions using a mouse helps with the posture
it's a stellar price for 16 inchers, especially 36gb. I was happy on my 16/1TB MBP 14, but I could see it occasionally starting to swap especially when I have to run 2 editing apps at the same time, so $200 more for 36gb is totally worth it!

I think depends on each State but i recall being able to make it through payment after their maintenance last night.
Pretty sure those who were able to pick delivery day were not backordered.
Got the Under Review email last night after ordering and then received confirmation email this morning!

I think the cost of living has made justification easier for buying a new laptop.
The level of satisfaction with 2-3k laptop is another world compare to a trolley worth of 500$ nappies 😅
or the satisfaction of scoring substantial saving on something that is usually not heavily discounted (ie Apple products)
Cost of living crisis affects some more than others, and to some extent I think gets blown out of proportion by the media to serve a purpose.
People with savings/investments and disposable income are less affected by the cost of living, and I know a lot of people on this site don't hunt for bargains out of necessity but to pursue a frugal lifestyle or just for the satisfaction of saving money.

well most of sensible people buying this already have something else that it replaces
so people trade old tech in, or sell it on, and this one only really costs you the difference if there's any..
when I went apple silicon, I sold Intel gaming laptop and a desktop, as MBP replaced both. had leftover money to put together external storage and final cost was close to nil..
and people are buying this laptop with a huge savings compared to what these configs usually cost, so.. it's a win
doesn't have a lot to do with the cost of living. similar windows laptop will cost about the same if not more
I can’t speak for all but for our business this device makes money so worth the investment
I have an M4 Air 13" and an M3 Pro 16". One subtle but noticeable difference is the keyboard, the M4 feels a bit more clicky and nicer to type on, while the M3 is slightly softer. For general tasks, both feel about the same speed wise. The Pro has a much better display, not just with local dimming and HDR, but it's also noticeably sharper due to 2x native scaling. The speakers are in a different class as well.

Went into the Carnegie officework store yesterday as they had stock for the 18/512 16" MBP on their website. Was told it was an ex-demo when I got in. Requested for further discount and the manager brought it down to 2180$. Pretty happy with the purchase. Happy shopping!!

first was under review, then the rest were just cancelled, the newest ones are cancelled right away after order
Any comms about why they got cancelled? Was it just a stock issue?
Any sus payment methods/gift cards redeemed on the orders that may have put up red flags?
Got the 16" 18GB/512GB for C&C since 32GB was OOS. Order’s still under review so hopefully it will go through.

I rung Officeworks help centre today.
My order is on backorder with and ETA of about a week. She said the order is coming from a store to warehouse then to be shipped out.
So for anyone that managed to get to the "backorder" stage with an ETA I'd just hold tight.
History:
After a few attempts, my order was marked under review on the 2nd at about 3pm, then was confirmed on "backorder" on the 3rd around 7am.
I ordered the 14inch 36gb Space Grey MBPStill no update. Eta gets pushed back each morning 😬

End up cancelling the order sadly.
The online team didn't really seem to know much of what was going on and kept saying it was coming which seems to be the default answer for orders on "backorder". But when I pushed them further they agreed it wasn't coming and cancelled the order.
When tracking the order it now said "delivery". So 48hrs later I rung again to confirm and they said it has infact been cancelled, that afternoon we got the refund. It still says "delivery" when tracking but says cancelled if you log in and check, pretty useless system on the customer end.
Ideally I'm looking for a M3 Max 14", so if anyone is selling one, holla at me lol.

oh well. sucks i only just got base m4 air for $1280. would've been happy to pay double that for the 16" M3 pro, it's that much better.
at least i got better single core performance on the m4 chip.

Grabbed the MacBook Pro 16” M3 12-CoreCPU 18-CoreGPU 36/512GB on the weekend. Will mainly use the Macbook for work - Microsoft documents, emails etc. Is 512GB enough storage for most people?
