      Whoops sorry

  • Anyone have experience with using these over a traiditonal case?

2.9 Kilograms to save you a click

    • Yeah, I picked up the $99 similar sort of thing at Kmart and thought I did good, this looks better at around the same size, so I am going to return that

  • Any Suggestions for Light Weight Carry On Cabin Luggage at a reasonable price

Most carry on weight around 3 or 3.5 Kg and takes half of the carry on limit of 7Kg which also includes the weight of any laptop bags which you may carry

Now even Full Service Airlines are weighing the combined Cabin Luggage plus laptop plus sometimes ladies hand bag

I wonder if we need to buy a long winter coat with large deep inter pockets

  • We have a couple of High Sierra rolling duffle bags like this, probably 7 years old at least? So they may be a bit different to this one. They've been good - good capacity, variety of compartments, strong zippers. The hand grip on the pull-out handle is molded with strips for grip but it tends to dig into the hand after a while of pulling the bag if it is very heavy. The wheels seem larger than 4 wheel spinners and travel OK on uneven surfaces. One disadvantage over hard case 4 wheel spinners is that they can sometimes be unbalanced when standing them unattended depending on how you've packed them and may fall over. The ability to convert it into a backpack was appealing when we bought it, but haven't used that (usually have a daypack as well to carry, and the duffle bag is usually too big and heavy to carry on the back).

Just returned from a trip to Europe and noticed during it that the wheels are constructed as a hard central plastic disc with softer rubber/plastic discs on each side of the central disc, and the rubber discs kind of fell apart on this trip (and maybe started falling apart previously and we didn't notice), possibly due to wheeling it long distances over cobblestones. It still works OK but may need to see if the wheels can be replaced.

    • High Sierra do sell spares, so it's possible to repair your bags. Get the wheels off and you will probably find they are a generic rollerblade style wheel, which you can find for $10.

This is an age thing, all soft plastics perish eventually. Trolley bag wheels disintegrate, Unifi APs get sticky. Not much you can do to stop it, just replace parts if possible.

    • I have the High Sierra Ultimate Access 3 Large 76cm Backpack Wheel and it's amazingly good. Took it from Brisbane to Perth and up to Darwin.

The straps are awesome when you have a 2nd bag and carry on.

Yep 20kg on your back is heavy but the quality and flexibility and capacity of these style is so good. I think it's under 3kg and the 3 compartments are great for shoes and dirty laundry.
