A walk down memory lane. Who else remembers having a birthday party at pizza hut as a kid?

    Good times

    • +2

Only beaten by memory of MacDonalds kids party in the 90s

      • +13

Nah the Pizza Hut birthdays were next level

      • +7

Maybe if you were kids. For those who were teens or in early-20's in the 90's — Pizza Hut parties with Works were much better.

      • -1

Do you pronounce McDonald's as Mack-donalds? shudder

        • +1

When I was a kid, everyone I knew and everyone in my town called it Mack-Donnuls.

      • +1

Nah, the buffet KFC places take the crown for me….good times.

        • I remember those in the 90s and the oil was still lard

      • +3

Not a chance, maccas had uncomfy seats and all each kid got was a happy meal. At Pizza Hut, you got the works, including unlimited drink refills.

        • +1

Idk I thought we were comparing sentimental memories not value - in which case yes Pizza Hut option was insane value.

Maybe 15 years ago we went for a birthday dinner as a bunch of poor uni students - we ate as kings that night but idk if it was really a sentimental memory for me.

    • +2

They used to have work lunches and Dinners , something like 6.95 and 9.95.
Plenty of fruites , Desserts on top of pizza and garlic bread

  • -1

    Whats the normal lunch price?

    • +4

How many weetbix slices do you do?

      • I meant the normal all you can eat price.

        • +5

$18.95 for weekday lunch. $24.95 for dinner.

  • +8

Honestly, if you happen to be wanting somewhere fun to take hallucinogens - this is highly recommended.

You obviously won't eat much food, but get the jugs of lemonade.

Look out for the carpet! You have been warned

… but will I need to seek the legal services of Lionel Hutz?

That man ate all our pizza and 2 plastic lobsters

Here's the list of dine-in restaurants. In case it's national

    https://www.pizzahut.com.au/dine-in

    • +6

Today I learnt that there are still all you can eat Pizza Hut restaurants in Sydney.

      • I went to the one in Waterloo a few years back and it was definitely NOT the same as when I was younger. The pizza comes out as a whole, and you need to finish that one before ordering a new pizza. The desert bar was just an ice cream machine and sprinkles etc. Only good if you go with say 5-10+ people, and I went solo…

I'm reading through the comments now to find out if its like the old-school pizza/salad/pasta/desert all you can eat bar, or like the one I just mentioned above! :)

    • +5

3 in Qld, 3 in NSW, 1 in Vic, 1 in Tas

  • +1

Only worth it, if you can eat two pizzas in a single sitting

    • True dat when factoring bogof.

I usually max out at about 10 slices, so maybe not worth it for me

    • My superpower

    • Col the Conqueror will be there with bells on!

Nah mate … you just need to get creative with your clothing. Think 'baggy cargo pants' (loaded with pockets), and an oversized jacket with numerous large pockets, preferably inside pockets. I can still remember back in the late 80s/early 90s when me and a few mates would have a regular competition to see who could walk out of PH with the most 'all you can "eat" (later)' food … the staff cottoned on to what we were doing in the end, but they didn't seem to care! LOL … fun times …

      • +2

Last time I went to Pizza Hut AYCE, I took one of those insulated Coles bags, a couple of takeaway containers (for the pasta and chocolate mousse of course) and some precut baking paper rectangles. You gotta load the bottom of the bag with the containers (spaghetti and sauce/ chocolate mouse), and then stack the rest of the bag with the pizza slices. I think it was 3 slices - sheet of paper - 3 more slices - sheet of paper etc etc. Same as making a lasagna.

Sizzler was fantastic aswell! They used to have an array of whole fruits (wasn't sure if it was for display looking back?) but when we left I would grab a whole pineapple and be out the emergency door (which was the norm for everyone who ate there, it was the most direct way to the carpark…).

Definitely could of eaten more at both, so I'm not sure if 'all-you-can-eat' is really a valid description TBH :P

      • +1

I think this is why they stopped offering all you can eat.

  • +1

Has the menu stayed the same as the 90’s? Dessert bar was always a hit, did anyone ever tap skull the soft serve machine?

  • +1

If you've got a lazy half a mill laying around doing nothing, why not buy a PH franchise! They only take 11.5% of gross sales!

    https://www.pizzahut.com.au/franchise

  • +1

Thought this was called 'the works' and was a dine in pizza hut staple?

    • Yes, but I think it’s usually more than $14.95 for weekday lunch (closer to $20 per person for weekday lunch IIRC).

  • +11

    This is worth travelling interstate.

    • depends how much you can eat

    • +3

We're in the Adelaide hills and I'm keen for a drive to Toowoomba for this. Only a 3 day drive to get there.

  • Good value 😁

  • How quick can you throw up?

  • +1

went to the browns plains one last year. that place sucks so bad now (staff related). youve been warned.

  • +2

I remember the Pizza Hut at Kirra in the 1990s as a teenager. Remember having birthdays there. I think it's closed now.

    • +1

Long gone. Was great place to eat pizza & watch the surf

  • There are still dine-in pizza huts?? Oh man i wanna goto one now lol

      • Thanks mate! Brisbanite here so Browns Plains is closest i guess, shame they're all so far out but be a nostalgic trip i reckon, cheers !

        • Fellow Brisbanite, but still too far for a bit of nostalgia🍕
Thankfully my eating habits (& income) have improved since my student days😉

  • Do this in Victoria

    • Try Ballarat - only PH dine-in left in Vic

  • Please don't try stack your salad like the crazy trend in China Pizza Hut back in 2013.
    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2380783/amp/Pizza-H…

    • +1

Because… "customers in China were told they could only have one trip to fill a single plate at the salad bar."

      Rule doesn't apply here!
      Many aren't interested in salad😄

      • +2

Lisa, you don't make friends with salad.

  • +3

Sad they closed down all in SA. Good times while it lasted.

  • How many large supreme pizzas can you guys eat in one go? Do they only serve the "value" range? eg Hawaiian or Premium and Loaded varieties?

  • I think this was the pre-covid price and I thought it wasn't worth it to fill the belly with full of pizzas.

  • How I miss these.. Pizza Hut dine in restaurants are a rare treat these days with only 8 remaining across regnal areas or QLD, NSW, VIC and TAS.

All you can eat: Where are Australia’s last remaining Pizza Hut dine-in restaurants?

  • Pizza and pasta they fill you fast and cheap to make for the restaurant. They also make you thirsty

    • normally you don't fill up on carbs at a buffet but this buffet most of it are carbs so would be an exception

  • +1

Screw gourmet takeaways; bring back the buffets!!!!!

  • Why does Sydney never do these deals? It's always the country boys!

    • Cost, regulation, operating times,

    • Sydney ppl can come to Browns Plains to have this deal.

  • Uu further you are the cheaper it is, the more accessible it is the less likely it is.

Such is life, while love Australia if you want the best all you can eat experience you gotta go over seas.

  • +1

The last time I went to pizza hut dine in they charged extra for the soft drinks. Kind of ruined it for me as it was approx $6 extra. Anyone know if this is still the case?

    • Last time I went this was the case. Just take one off another table when they leave and gave it a rinse at the machine, or a wash in the rest room (comes with soap).

  • +6

    BROWNS PLAINS is terrible.

Run by Indians who apply their third world standards to save $.

The baine marie only ever has two (sometime 3 where the third is a vegetarian) pizzas on offer which generally is taken quickly and you are left ato wait a very long time until new ones are provided.

If there are slices left , they will not refill until all the pizzas are taken.

The salad bar is literally their pizza topping ingredients. Ie sliced olives, sliced capsicums, pizza cheese, onions, etc. it’s literally just their raw pizza toppings .

The pasta bar is spirals and two sauces. A red sauce which I believe is a standard pizza sauce and white sauce which likely contains zero cream. It looks and tastes like flour sauce aka mix plain flour with water and heat and stir until looks like a white sauce. Both taste ah!t as fuk.

The dessert bar is chocolate mousse in a tub that looks like mushy sh!t from the constant communal spoon scoops, aeroplane jelly cubes, a cool and delicious soft serve machine, and toppings station that is cross contaminated and half the toppings are spilled in the bench and floor.

Tables aren’t clean either. You can see oily prints in the tables.

My wife and I went to the Browns Plains Pizza Hut maybe 12 months ago and we weren't impressed for all the reasons you gave plus the toilets were quite dirty. I think that there were more pizzas available when we were there but the selection was pretty poor and a lot of them were just sitting there for ages because no one wanted them. There weren't many customers which was understandable considering what was on offer.

It's amazing how smart arse business owners think that they can make more money by cutting corners but end up killing the business instead.

We don't have any intentions of returning even at $10 per head.

    • I went to Browns Plains a few months ago - the place was run down but not quite as bad as you described:

      • there were at least 3 (sometimes 4) pizzas available. These were often refilled when the least popular pizza still had slices out (I think when I went, the cheese only one wasn’t popular and was out for ages)
      • in addition to the ice cream and mousse there was also an apple crumble style dessert
      • in addition to the salad bar items (which were as sad as described) there were also potato gems, potato salad and a garlic toast available

Edit: I actually took a photo when I was there in November and there were five (possibly six if you count the one lonely slice in the background) pizzas out - https://imgur.com/a/iiqNimP

      • I was there last week. When I arrived pretty much all 10 pizza spots had some pizza in there, and I was told they were 5-10 minutes away from restocking the whole bar. True enough this did happen.

$18.95 is the cost of a food court meal these days, so to get a whole buffet/AYCE is pretty good value IMO. Sure the pizzas aren't gourmet but you get some variety vs buying your own whole pies, and there's a mix of thin and thick bases.

Salads were fine to add a healthier element to the meal, and the soft serve with jelly was a nice way to finish. But definitely get the apple crumble pizza and have it fresh out of the oven - that was the highlight of my meal!

    • Thanks, saved me the bother. The Springwood Pizza Hut isn’t very good these days either.

  • +1

    Couple of points:
    1. There's also an evening option (at least in Toowoomba) at a slightly higher price.
    2. On Tuesdays, PH do B1G1 deal - and 2 pizzas should be enough for up to 2 people (albeit without variety, salad, soft serve).

  • +2

Im considering flying in from WA for this.

    • Unless you can get the flights for free, this wouldn't be the most cost efficient way!

You are better off ordering 1x of every pizza off the menu, and maybe 5/10x chocolate mousse etc, and it would still be cheaper than the flight ticket price IMHO.

OFC, you miss out on the booth seats (per store basis?), the ice-cream machine and the drink refills etc, but I guess if its 'the experience' you are after, nobody is stopping you, I just wouldn't personally recommend it…

It is only 'Pizza Hut' after-all…

  • +1

Just went to brown plains, they aren't doing it and they won't do it.

    • +1

That's funny. Ozbargain admin just invalidated my report by saying Browns plains are doing it, despite providing no proof.

      • Just take a picture of the receipt and upload it here bro, it will suffice! :)

  • +1

I just got this message from an anonymous admin:

    Message:
Equally there is no proof that Browns Plain is not doing the deal.
The associated deal poster has visited the Toowoomba restaurant and he was supplied with this deal. We will take his word until you can provide proof to the contrary.

I didn't know we didn't have to provide evidence of deals. New ozbargain rule?

    • +1

A guy at work says that 'if you wiggle your nose and snap your fingers at all Domino's store's, they will give you 3 pizza's and 3 sides for free'. Furthermore, he went on to say 'Matter of fact, if you walk in clucking, and doing the chicken dance at Red Rooster they will give you a FREE Hawaiian Pack' (or it could have been @ Chicken Treat, or Oporto's or Nando's or KFC, the local pub, Woolies maybe?, I cant actually remember the yawn, we were pretty drunk after work blah blah blah, hearsay information, hearsay information goes here).

      No bullshit! Legit!

Reckon I should post a new deal? facepalm

  • Can someone confirm that this is the full pizza/salad/desert bar' (Works style buffet), or is it the ol' 'order 1x Pizza at a time' gimmick?

Some stores (like Waterloo) do vary in their so called 'all-you-can-eat' offerings, I would do the trip up there for it, just don't wanna be tricked again!

    https://ibb.co/7tK3xD1p

    TIA

    • I went to Windsor one few times. One is when they open and another in afternoon, both times they don't have anyone there, thus why they don't have any pizzas in the bar - once I pay - they asked me what I want. Yes you can ask for more than one pizza at a time. Apart from pizzas - I love their pastas, fries. Note, for some strange reason, they charge me dinner once even it was 3.30pm - staff there was even confuse on why they didn't have any fries as it's meant for dinner only even I did paid for dinner, but they ended up serving fries anyway.

  • Only catch is you will then be in Toowoomba or Brown Stains.
