Dell monitor. Was holding out for the 2722QC to match my current, but seems to be out of stock.

Hopefully 120hz looks ok next to 60hz.

Code is listed in Topcashback with monitors @ 2.5%.

Damn nice deal if 27” is big enough for you

    • +2

      469 for 32inch.

Good find. Dell 32 Plus 4K Monitor- S3225QS for those curious.

        • +1

VA instead of IPS panel if my memory serves correctly.

      • getting $1199 (S3225QC)

        • +2

For S3225QC, change "FreeSync Premium Pro" to just "Premium" which brings the price down to 528.00 before coupons/discounts

          • +3

@BelovedIshtar: S3225QS is VA with terrible viewing angles

          • +1

@BelovedIshtar: How are you getting the S3225QC for $528, are you confusing it with another model? The S3225QC is the fancy QD-OLED monitor, and the discount code brings that down to $1,067.11.

S3225QS (VA panel, non-OLED monitor) can be had for $469.92 wth the discount code.

            • @deadpoet: What is the discount code to bring that to 1,067.11 ? I am trying to use this AFFCB11% but that is not working with S3225QC

              • @bestd: I used AFFCB11%, the code listed with this deal. No idea why it's not working for you, are you applying the code at the checkout screen?

                S3225QC:

                Items (1) $1,199.00
                Coupon AFFCB11% - $131.89
                Rounding Adjustment - $1.00
                Total $1,066.11

(not sure why they do that $1 rounding adjustment, looks like that only happens at the final stage just before payment)

its not a bad price if you wanna start 4k gaming but would recommend you get a 5000 series Nvidia graphic card if you want to do really good 4k gaming.

  • +13

I just feel like usb-c connection is necessary these days

    • +17

Unless you're using it in a normal PC…in which case it doesn't matter at all.

      • -3

I use mine with a Mac mini and a MacBook Pro. I consider these normal PCs

        • +4

Just get a displayport to USB-C cable. Search on Amazon for the one from ugreen as they are a good brand. It's $20 for a 1M or $23 for a 2M. Once you get one of those you're set for any screen :)

        • +2

Mac Mini and MBPro have HDMI ports.

  • +3

Waiting for it to hit under $300 for tax purposes

    • +26

Real question is why has it stayed at $300 when CPI & WPI have been blowing through affordability of goods for years.

<$300 used to actually get you decent office equipment, nowadays I couldn't even afford a half decent dock and claim it in one year.

ATO need to bump it up.

      • +5

Agreed. Im glad someone else also had this thought

      • +2

They did just bump it up.
Oh wait, I'm thinking of the fuel excise… which they then charge GST on. 🤬

      • +2

I noticed that fines are measured in units, which are relative values and being indexed, but such thresholds are in absolute values, which never or rarely updated - wondering if this is on purpose

    • +2

Will anyone else in the household use it around 10% of the time?

      • i thought i couldnt apportion it for purpose of the cap.

    • What is special about $300?

      • +3

        Instant write-off

    • +1

you can deduct more than $300 with receipts though?

      • +1

        yeah but over multiple years

  • +2

Was $306 not long (~ a month) ago iirc.

Brought one, returned 3 days later, had a bad pink tint. Not sure if I was just unlucky, or if it is a common defect in this model.

    • I have 2 exactly the same dated dell 27” ips screen u2718 i think, one of greyer and one is whiter.
      Same settings same profile
Didn’t annoy me as it’s very faint.

    • +1

Huh? I thought it was $321 with Dell Partner code, how did you get it down to $306?

      • +2

Yeah you're right, just checked invoice and it was 321. Must have got confused

    • +2

Bought 2, both look identical to my eye and are great. Sounds like you got a little unlucky

  • +1

The QC is just $399.41 using the same code too

  • +4

I'm considering getting this to replace my 27inch 1440 180hz since it matches better with my 27inch 4k 60 proart. This seems like a weak justification but that hasn't stopped me before.

    • The mismatched resolutions would drive me crazy

  • +1

Definitely worth the extra cash for the S2725QC.

AFFCB11% gets it down to $399.41 delivered.

    • I'm considering getting this monitor. Is it a decent price for it?

      • +1

Yes I think so, RRP 499 and I paid 445 about a week ago. Big improvement over the S2722QC.

  • Been pretty happy with this as a second monitor. It’s not amazing but it’s good enough

  • -4

After paying $132 for a S2725H (the 1080P version), hard to justify paying 2.5x for this 4K version.

But S2725 is EOL, so won't be getting that deal again.

    • +8

      4x the pixels

      • +4

I don't know how anyone can use 1080p for non-gaming tasks

  • Wondering if you can daisy chain the S2725QS with a S2725QC, but looks like it's not possible(?). What's the next best option?

    • You need the monitors that are passing out displayport to support MST - they're not common, but there are a few. Something like 4k 120hz wouldn't really work for MST either as it saturates a single link on one monitor (I'm pretty sure). MST works best for 2x 1440p60 or similar lower res/Hz panels

      • Bugger. What about option suggested below of using a USB-C 7 in 1 adaptor with charging pass through? I could run the S2725QC straight through the adaptor into the laptop, and then run a HDMI from the adapter back to the second monitor. Not a perfectly neat solution, but does it work?

Or am I better off just buying a docking station?

        • A docking station and a "7 in 1 adapter" are the same thing functionally, one is just more portable. Cheap adapters tend to be a bit more iffy than more expensive docks, and often support lower resolution and refresh rates.

          • @incipient: Thanks again.

Last question - what if I just ran a S2725QC straight into one USB-C outlet, so that it powers my laptop, and I run a S2725QS into the other USB-C outlet? It's two cables (rather than one) but cheaper than buying a dedicated TB4 docking station. Presumably I get the full resolutions and refresh rates from my video card with this arrangement?

            • @YesWay: That'll definitely be the cheapest way to, yeah.

If your laptop supports dual 4k120 monitors that is, and both usb ports can support the right display port spec (DP1.4 I think, but maybe 2.0?)

Is a bit hit and miss when you're pushing really high data rates on panels like these.

Honestly at 27", going qhd isn't terrible, especially if you're using a laptop.

              • @incipient: Cheers. Yep both usb ports support it as far as I can tell (2 x USB-C® (USB 10Gbps / USB 3.2 Gen 2), with USB PD 3.0 and DisplayPort™ 1.4)

I was originally thinking QHD but for the pricing of the 4K versions, seems like a win. And from what I can gather 4K @ 150% DPI scaling looks better than QHD for the same screen real estate.

  • Got this recently, after upgrading from s2723QC, it’s absolutely outstanding.

  • What's peoples thoughts on the 34" curved one?

I currently have 1x 27" and my laptop sitting side by side.. I Was gonna get a 2nd 27" but then will need to buy a dock for the laptop (needs to be closed for dual monitors)

    Thoughts on https://www.dell.com/en-au/shop/dell-34-plus-usb-c-curved-mo… for $599

    • You could get a usbc 7 in 1 adaptor with charging pass through. Then you have 2 HDMI ports.

Alternatively a monitor with usbd 65w power delivery (QC version of this monitor)

    • I have the 100hz version at work and I like it. I still think I'd prefer to have a large primary with a vertical secondary monitor like I have at home though.

  • I replaced a 31.5 inch 1440p monitor with this. Night and day difference for web browsing and productivity!
Even for gaming I am finding the 27" monitor great - I am not missing the extra few inches on the sides.

Also the HDR on this monitor surprised me - better than expected.

In short I highly recommend this monitor.

    • Interetsed in the WHY..

Im tossing up between this as a 2nd 27" or going to a single 34"

      • I switch between a 34" 1440p ultra wide and a 32" 4k monitor for work/gaming.

I find productivity better on the 32 at 100% scaling than the 34, as it has more pixels to play with and can snap windows to a quarter for easy sharing on teams etc

Gaming is a better experience on the ultra wide.

I would say with any 4k monitor if you're not using it at 100% scaling you're not getting the most out of it. Work out if you can sit close enough to a 4k 27" monitor for it to work as a second monitor.

        • yeah thanks..

TBH I only have a 1440 27" S2721DGF now.. so I am either just adding a 2nd 27" or scrapping my current one and going for a single WIDE..

I think its making more sense to just go to a second 27" but then I dont even need 4K.. but its not really any more expensive to have as a just in case..

I saw some benefit of going to a single ultra wide for things like the occasional video editing.. but for day to day and 99% work/admin/browsing use..

          • @r1mick: also now killing myself..

add a 32" and has 27" as a 2nd.. or is that gonna throw me out and I shuold just make sure I keep 2x 27".. haha

  • Is this the normal price with just the 11% discount? Or is this model usually more expensive?

  • +1

I have a previous model (2721QS) and it's a pretty good monitor for office work, coding etc (as 1 of 2 monitors). 4K resolution on a 27" monitor for me is the sweet spot of fitting enough on screen without text/windows getting too small.

Colour accuracy is a bit off though so it's not really suitable for photo/design stuff.

At this price, if I needed a new office monitor I would jump at it.

    • +1

Agree about the colour accuracy. I got a S2725QS recently and I just haven't been able to get it right. Was disappointed because I'm using it next to an older monitor which has a bright vivid display.

It feels comfortable to look at though.

  • Is this a good gaming monitor for FPS

    • I think these suffer from a bit of smudging/blur when movement is very fast. If I wanted some very fast moving FPS games, I'd definitely check reviews - may not be ideal. It's also $330 for a 4k120 monitor - a price I've never seen elsewhere, so it's always a trade off.

  • Fall under $300 please.

  • +4

I would never buy from Dell again, S2721QS died weeks after 3 years. They are trying to hide behind their warranty policy, reading online they avoid honoring warranties anyway.

    • +4

S3422DWG, same situation here, some issues with the panel started to happen after 3 years.

    • A whole bunch of us with the same issue. I bought this as my old one just died and it’s only just past the 3 years warranty too.

  • I got the QC version for my daughter and it’s great!

  • 10 days later an mine still says 'processing order'. have dell employees gone on strike or something?

    • Damn mine too, I was expecting it any day

  • anyone got one with a 2721DS ?
i got a few of these, work great for WFH, but i am now wanting a single high refresh rate one.

  • Finally shipped today. Dell should have advised if they didn’t even have the stock on hand. Really annoying.

    • Very poor form, I was impressed with my previous Dell buying experience, this has just made that a net negative.

  • Would 27' be big enough for having two windows/multi tasking. My in laws want to upgrade there setup and want a curved screen and have said 34' but I am not sure if these are too big or they would better suit a 27' like this. Father in law wants to be able to put stuff up side by side.

    • 2 x 27" is a lot of screen real estate at 4k resoloution.

2 x 34" curved would be too much I imagine.

      • Oh sorry i meant they would just be using a single display. So either one 27 or one 34 but the ability to use two windows on one display

        • Oh yea. Personally I would lean to seperate displays for ease of "seperation" both from a mental standpoint and a UI, also if you run full screen design / editing software its probably pretty janky on a half screen.

4k (UHD) is overkill if you are running pure "office" stuff IMO.

I would probably go for 2x 27 QHD in that case.

But I would say its very user dependent, I'm sure there are people who run split screens with great efficency.

  • Recieved mine,

Looks noticably worse than my S2722QC.

Whites look greyer and text doesnt pop anywhere near as much. I didn't expect such a difference from a similar model, damn.
