Weird size for this (low) resolution?
    Incredible price though!

    • +3

If you sit 1.5m away, it’s fine.

      • +1

Pretty much this, it's all relative.

I find 27" 1440p to be the sweet spot for me on a ~75cm desk and for office work.
27" 1080p is a little blocky at this distance for office work, but could be fine for gaming off of like a Nintendo Switch.

        For 1080p, I find 24" works well.

        • +2

Yep, 24 @ 1080p is good for your standard arms length distance. It's a shame they don't do more 24" 1440p monitors.

          • @EitherWayUp: If anyone finds a 24” 1440 that swivels 90’ and doesn’t cost a bomb, please tell me!

            • +2

@WhyAmICommenting: Not sure about cheap 24" at 1440p, but a ~$30 monitor arm could fix your swivel problem?

            • +1

@WhyAmICommenting: you might be able to get a dell 25" in 1440. My U2515H (old) have treated me well

              • @waade395: Thanks I’ll check it out or go monitor arm…

                • +3

@WhyAmICommenting: Tip with the arms. Check locally to see if any businesses are getting rid of theirs on marketplace or gumtree. They tend to buy good quality ones that swivel a lot better than the cheapest options on Amazon, I've tried both. I'm quite happy with a Humanscale M2 that was around $50, but there are plenty out there.

  • +1

Wow, cheap for a 27" monitor that looks this good and is ok for work/light gaming. 2 x 5w integrated speakers too.

    • -1

Because it's only 1080p, that's why. Not great for work, and the speakers are crap.

    • +1

Trouble in my middle name at work. Is this ok for work purposes?

      • +2

Should be fine for work and light gaming

      • +4

Define work. Browsing OzB and Amazon - yes fine. Otherwise I'd look into getting something with QHD resolution at this size. The $70-$100 extra will be very well-spent.

    • +13

      Yeah but it's not 32"

  • +6

I wouldn’t recommend this for anyone doing any kind of productivity work. 1080 P across 27 inches he’s going to make for a diabolical text on screen especially if viewing A4 documents at one-to-one scale.

    • +1

Agree. Maybe ok for 70yo basic usage like email and reading news

    • +1

Put it on a vesa mount, set it up in vertical configuration, sit back a bit or push the monitor back a bit if your desk is deep enough. Might be good as a 2nd vertical monitor.

    • Yep. I would only recommend this monitor if price is the only consideration.

The 27" 4k dell monitors are twice the price but text rendering is so much better.

    • -1

I use a 27" 1080p monitor for my PC all day every day, and it seems perfectly OK to me.

      • That’s encouraging. What kind of content are you viewing on that screen?

  • +4

Look guys, I've got one I'm using now, its not that bad. I don't have any problems with it. I use it for basic stuff like email, web browsing, light work. I'd like to upgrade to QHD 27" but it doesn't bother me right now so yes its still pretty good for value and it works.

    • +14
      👍 Pros 👎 Cons
It's not that bad It's not QHD
It doesn't bother me right now
It's still pretty good for value
      It works
      • +4

i need more money so this will do for now

    • +1

Agree, standard at my workplace (Dell/HP 27" 1920 x 1080) and I think it looks fine. I've got dual screen setup and constantly look at spreadsheets word docs etc.. no issues.

  • -3

Now on special for $129 at JB hi-fi.

    • +4

I believe that’s the SE2725H you’re looking at. 1x HDMI, 1x VGA , 75Hz refresh. Inferior in several aspects. Happy to be corrected

      • And VA technology vs IPS

  • can you daisy chain 3-4 of these?

    • +1

Does it have usb c at all?

    • +1

      Impossibru

    • no daisy, you can't

    • I think you need DP ports for daisy chain.

  • Can't find any reason why I would need one. Guess wife would be impressed to have a display in the toilet?

  • +1

Thanks Op, do you see any 34 inches for sale

    • Unfortunately cannot see any 34 “ atm

  • Great price, probably time to upgrade my dad's monitor.

He's using an hand-me-down Ultrasharp 24" that I bought from Network Operation Centre through Whirlpool group buy in 2005.

    • +2

Was going to buy 2, 1 for dad and 1 for mum.

Decided to put in 2 separate orders, so I can use the reward (about $10) from the first order for the second monitor.

In between also signed up for the education program (as parent of student, requires .edu email to validate). But because "DNCPAU11" was already entered, it didn't show additional discount was available.

While placing the second order, noticed a 15% discount was automatically applied, so it's $126.16.

But turns out reward is not immediate, probably need to wait for the first monitor is shipped. Will hold on to the second order for now, hopefully price won't go up.

      • any code for 15% discount?

        • It's not a code, it's automatically applied when the account has an active student membership.

      • Received the monitor this morning, but no rewards yet, but will be within 30 days after shipped.

        • Meanwhile price has increased to $199.10, even with 15% discount, it's $168.23.

Damn! Tried to save $10, now $40 more.

          • @browser: You snooze, you lose. Luckily you have already got yours.

            • @edfoo: Technically I didn't snooze, was consciously waiting for the reward to land so that it can be applied to the second order.

Anyway, dad is happy now. While the old monitor still works, the new one is so much brighter and aesthetically pleasing. Though it introduced a new "challenge", the old monitor has an attached soundbar with a volume knob, the new one needs to fiddle with a joystick at the back and inadvertently messes with other settings. I showed him to adjust volume in Windows instead.

Mum will have to wait now, hopefully more sales leading up to EOFY.

Any recommendations on a budget 24" monitor for hoome office use? Need 2

  • +1

Thanks Op ordered some for work

  • +1

Thanks OP, also ordered one for work.

  • I haven't seen a monitor with only one input for a loooooong time.

  • Can you use a Chromecast with this to function as a smart TV (with external speakers)?

    • -2

Unless you connect this monitor to your PC with WiFi connection, no you can't.

    • +1

Yes - plug the CC into one of the HDMI ports. You could even plug a computer into the other HDMI port to pull double duty (I have no idea what the other responder is talking about!)

    • +1

My apology for misunderstanding your question earlier, if you mean you have a Chromecast device to plug into the HDMI port of this monitor, yes you can watch like a TV. I thought you meant casting your video directly onto this monitor, then that is a no.

  • +1

Such great price, was hoping a repeat just before FY26 starts.
