Can I buy apple gift cards at woolies using the woolies gift card. I can get woolies gift card at 5% off.

      Good days are gone.

    • No

    • +1

Nope; but you can buy Apple gift card with the Special gift cards (Woolworths).

      • Where do I buy the “special gift card “?

      • Really? I thought you couldn't buy gift cards using gift cards?

        • +3

          That is generally true.

You cannot use Woolworths Supermarket gift cards to purchase any gift cards at Woolworths (or Woolworths Metro). It is against the gift card terms and conditions, plus Woolworths has set up their checkouts to automatically block this if you attempt it.

On the other hand, Woolworths-branded Special gift cards are prepaid Mastercard gift cards that can only be redeemed at Woolworths or Woolworths Metro. Woolworths has not set up their checkouts to automatically block them as a payment method when purchasing Apple gift cards, but if a staff member notices you trying to use a prepaid gift card to purchase a gift card, they could stop you. Having said that, it looks like Special stopped selling Woolworths-branded Special gift cards last week.

Woolworths automatically blocks some prepaid gift cards if you are trying to use them to pay for some gift cards in-store, so it is worth having a look at this FAQ from the wiki page linked at the bottom of the deal description if you want to learn more.

      • Is there any benefit using "special" gift cards? Doesn't seem like any discount at all, compared to Woolworths gift cards which are usually 4% off.

        • Sometimes Special runs targeted cashback offers on various debit/credit card rewards programs (which you can see here).

There are currently active cashback offers available to targeted NAB and CommBank cardholders.

  • Has Apple or the retailers worked out a way to stop the theft of the cards? I am really reluctant to buy the physical cards.

    • Picked up 2k worth from coles yesterday. It was the new version, the casher opened it before scanning and 1 out of 4 failed to activate. She refunded on the spot.

Was just chatting regarding scams, she just said keep the receipt and if anything is wrong bring it back

      • Picked up mine today at coles too. Although she said, any issues, you have to call up customer service to deal with it. I just loaded it all up next to her in my apple account just to be sure.

        • Yup, we loaded straight away as well.

Bought $2k of Apple gift cards about six months ago, one of them (worth $200) was a fake.

Woolworths were helpful and i was refunded, plus i still got the reward points for that gift card.

That said the stress of the whole experience was not worth the points IMO.

The new Apple gift cards are tamper proof and no longer show the card details / PIN on the outside

    • +3

They’re designed to be more resistant but they’re far from tamper proof. You still need to open them up before you pay to confirm that the redemption code hasn’t been removed or modified.

      • +1

How would a scammer tear open the cris crossed cardboard and then close it again without detection?

        • If it was anything like before, they would carefully unglue from the bottom or side. Hopefully that's not possible / easy to detect now.

          • +1

@megaton: The new ones are completely sealed and would be very difficult to open without being obvious…they even need to be opened just to reveal the generic barcode to scan at the register for purchase

    • +1

But they also no longer come with a sticker.

just in time for my tax return

    • I'm buying a puppy off Facebook.

Probably one of the last chances to get them before new iPhone release, so get in on this deal if you are planning to purchase it on launch day!!

    • Yep 5 weeks before iPhone 17 announcement is pretty much last call - stock up!

    • Discounted JB hifi cards are widely available (e.g. Bupa 4.5% off), at any time, however if i'm not mistaken the effective discount here is actually 10%.

  • What do you do with all that credit??

    • Umm have you seen Apple prices???

    • You can spend it on anything at apple store for easy 10% off (plus whatever other discount you can score like a price match or something)

    • Subscriptions - iCloud, Apple Music etc etc

    • Anything - from hardware like an iPhone or a Mac, to Apple Subscriptions like iCloud+ or Apple Music, to actual apps/music, or for in app purchases and subscriptions.

  • Do these will work on AOC store ¿

    • +1

      Yes

    • +1

yup, also the topcashback 2% works aswell lol even on the aoc store, worked for me on a macbook, worth getting as much as you can back.

      • Cheers. Will be loading up. For a MB Pro

  • last time I stocked up on tons of these to buy a macbook on the apple aoc store. I also won their previous offer of like a free $200 in everyday reward credit, also when you stack up your reward points you can use the points to shop on the woolworths everyday reward store + stack cashreward bonuses. All in all if you want an apple device its definitely worth using this offer.

  • I had everyday rewards points auto converting to qantas points turned on as I wasn't paying attention. Points get instantly converted to qantas points.

If you don't want this to happen make sure you turn it off.

    • +1

You can use the qantas points to spend at Woolies by converting them to a wish gift card. But you’ll be losing some value as it’s not a 1:1 conversion

  • Is there a new $1k limit on variable card loading? Got told by cashier that’s the daily limit, but went to another store with same reward card and able to get another $1k.

  • Went to woolworth just now, but didn’t see any 20x label on Apple Gift Cards

    • +1

Some stores havent put up the signage. But I just bought a few and they all went through. Also if you bring it to the checkout operator and scan your everyday rewards card they can tell you if it shows up as 20x everyday reward before you even pay. I bought 2x $500 ones and she said it came up I will earned $100 value in reward points i then proceeded to pay with my card and its all good. Just redeemed to my apple account no issues.

      • Thank you! This is very helpful.

  • I had my orders cancelled by apple for using Apple balance. I called up and they said they could verify the payment methods. My balance is more than the order. I am not sure where to go from here, anyone has any idea?
