Ahoy,

Well it's August, and next month it's September - where has the year gone… Alas, I'll park the existential stuff and get on with the coffee stuff!

We're really excited about a gem of an espresso that's been sourced from multiple producers in Bali. It's a touch pricier than other origins, but it's a really interesting coffee for the price point given it's from Indonesia. Roasted by Atypical and drunk (and enjoyed) by me :)

On the filter front, we're turning our attention to an oldie but a goodie. Pillar have a classic washed from Yirgacheffe in Ethiopia that should put a smile on the faces of every filter drinker.

If milk is your thing, we've got you covered with the Candid blend from Atypical and a full helping of blends from AXIL.

As always, please sing out if you'd like a suggestion or need a hand with something.

Cheers,
Tim

PS. Don’t forget, you can also build your own bundle of 250g bags and tins if you don’t want to commit to a kg of one coffee. Or, you might just love variety! 🙂 Scroll down to see how this works.

  • And just as I was about to run out of Candid! Cheers.

    • Love that!

  • While this is pricier than what I drink, I love how you price 250g bags at not much higher than 1kg bags. If you don't mind me asking, how much more does it cost roasters to actually put coffee into 4x 250g bags instead of 1kg bags? A couple dollar more for the bags and one more minute maybe? I want to try various blends before I buy in bulk but the lucrative amount other roasters charge on 250g bags is prohibiting, I think your tactic is much smarter and I am actually willing to try your blends when my current stock is finished.

    • +1

      Thanks!

Yeah there’s a few things going on here. You’re right on the cost of bags, the time taken would be a touch longer but the big difference would be packaging and shipping costs.

As an example based on MyPost Band 5, the cost for packing and sending 4x 250g bags could be 50% more than sending 1x 1kg bag to the same address.

      • Thanks for the answer. So 1kg bags would tightly fit in 1kg bracket but 4x250 would be too much over so goes to 3kg right? It might be beneficial to offer 240g or 245g bags in that case!

        • +1

Yep, that can be how it works for some carriers. But even just the physical bulk of the smaller bags means that you can’t pack them in a small satchel.

Interestingly, a few roasters are starting to experiment with 220g bags.

  • Hey Tim. Does the Atypical Filter have a discount at well?

    • I’m afraid no public value packs there.

It’s only a small amount that would barely squeeze past OzB’s guidelines on minimum availability of stock.

Having said, ping me a message and I’ll see what kind of ‘one off’ deals we can do ;)

  • Perfect timing. Curious about the Candid. Will give it a go.

    • Awesome! Let me know what you think :)
      Cheers,
      Tim

    • It's delicious and that's a fantastic price. Give it a crack.

      • Glad to hear it!

  • Will the Bali blend be around for a while? Only just got 1kg of Code Black but curious to try this a few weeks.

    • Should be around for a few weeks :)

  • I added 4x 250g of Pillar Ethiopia filter and it only bundle discounted to $75. Unable to get to the $62 stated.

  • Would be great if same discounted price is applied for mixed 8x250g bags. Seems to be somewhat discounted but doesn't give same price as buying 8x identical bags.

    • I’ll definitely look into making sure the pricing here makes sense. Not sure it can be identical given the increased time it takes to pick and pack a mixed bundle, but I’ll see what I can do :)

      Cheers,
      Tim

  • Is the deal still on? Getting:
    Atypical - Candid blend - Espresso roast - 1kg (1x 1kg bag) / Whole Beans - and getting $63 at checkout instead of $39?

    • Yep, deal is still going. I'm seeing it come up on my browser. Do you mind trying an incognito or private tab? Cheers, Tim

  • great ordered, had to try a different browser. Thank you!

    • Sorry about that!
