Good price for the laptop when bundle with the monitor for $1 more when check out.
Can add RGB keyboard for +$20.
The monitor itself is quite good, 2K 180Hz 120% sRGB, 95% DCI-P3.
AMD Ryzen 350(Kraken Point) is like 10% better than 8040H(S) (Hawk Point), and 5060 is like 1000 more than the 4060.
You can add another stick of RAM for like less than what Lenovo charges.
There is review on Notebookcheck, same unit but with the Ryzen 250 (Hawk Point).

I don't know what Lenovo did, I checked out mine for $1,967.21, posted, and price went up. (With RGB keyboard of course)

      4060 for $800

        Wait for sale

      • -2

        Not wrong though.

Just got back. $2k for an RTX 5060 is an extremely bad deal when you consider RTX 4090 laptops have gone $2500, RTX 3080 have gone $1.7k. RTX 4060 indeed have gone $800, with average "good" sale price of around $1k.

      • +8

LOL! As a follower of 3080 & 4090 laptop pricing I know you are lying. I knew you were lying in the "$800 4060" thread too.

        • -2

Huh? No? Those prices are real.

The HP Omen also had an eBay code that brought it down by $500 from $2999 going to $2499.

The Lenovo Legion had a deal 25% cashback deal against the RTX 3080 going at $2299 one time. $2299 * 0.75 = $1725.

The $800 RTX 4060 is very real. It's also an eBay code from dicksmith

      • So would you describe it as….. E-waste???

  • +15

It's like 300 more for the model with 5070, 32GB of RAM, and a 1TB SSD instead. Reckon that's the better buy

Can add one more 16g ram or not OP?

    • Yes, 16GB DDR5-5600 SODIMM should do the job

  • I assume there's a 2K monitor glut.

  • Wow, price breakthrough.

  • Isn't this CPU just and 8840u or something? AMD just slap an NPU in it and a bit of spit and shine, and it's a brand new CPU!

Or maybe thats the 355 or something. They are losing me with their naming conventions.

    • The previous generation of legion 5 slim with 8845hs and 4060 often goes for sale at 1899 IINM
Gotta wait for this to fall below 2k, non-edu price

      • +2

        Jesus wouldn't ever consider paying $1.9k for a 4060.

        • +3

No he'd just turn a literal potato into a quantum computer and game on that

        • Well that was last year before 50xx series came about

    • +3

      nah its different 8840hs is 8 z4 cores, this is 4 z5 + 4 z5c

      • Am I crazy or did AMD do this though, release essentially and older chip and add an NPU and call it new? I thought I read somewhere that they did this.

        • +2

You're not wrong, basically from 7000 to 8000, they just add an NPU and call that a day. And some how with some 8000 SKUs they removed the NPU so it is basically 7000 called as 8000. And then we have Ryzen "AI" 250 which is an 8000 renamed. Idk both Intel and AMD are trying to confuse consumer to be honest.

  • Oled?

  • Note these cpus are pretty bad for gaming, since they have 4 zen 5 cores and 4 zen5c cores, windows doesn’t really know what to do beyond the first 4 cores

    • +1

But you can go for Linux and have amazing scheduling.

Excellent laptop, i have the gen 9 from last year with the RTX4070, i couldn't fault a single thing on it. Also a good post by OP!
BUT i dont think this is the best value ATM, i would check out this if you are in the marking for a gaming laptop According to https://gaminglaptop.deals/australia/
    The Alienware 16 Aurora (2025) Intel Core 7 240H - NVIDIA RTX 5060 - 16GB DDR5-5600 RAM - 16" 2560 x 1600 120Hz display - 1TB SSD is $1737.87…
    Food for thought.
    P.S. Dell dont include a bag… ;)

  • How do you get access to the education store these days?

There was a link + password but it's no longer working.

  • The Legion R27qe monitor is 1440p.
Please don't copy the manufacturer and support their use of '2K' as the screen resolution. Some other manufacturers use 2K to mean 1080P, while Lenovo is using it to mean 1440p. It's 2.5K if anything.
