    • thats the taiwan mob that people talk about apparently they are nice.

China Airlines is pretty decent too. Love their interior with their dragon claw lamp.

Beef noodles, Kavalan and oolong tea served onboard too.

          • @kungfuman: Huh? What are you on about?

            • -8

              @SetTheFaqUp: China Airlines

              • @kungfuman: And the relevance to tiktok and USB port?

                • -8

                  @SetTheFaqUp: research CCP and enjoy

@kungfuman: What does China Airlines gotta do with the CCP?

Are you trolling for the sake of trolling?

                  • +17

@kungfuman: Please note that China Airlines is actually a Taiwanese full service airline, and is different from Air China, that is based in Beijing.

                      • +1

@kungfuman: You reckon PRC will agree that they are part of Taiwan?

                      • +7

@kungfuman: Which China? It was annexed and ruled by the Qing dynasty between 1683 to 1895, and returned to the government of Republic of China in 1945. However it was never ruled by the Chinese Communist Party, which was what you have been suggesting.

                        • @scotty: By CCP's logic. If TW was to be 'returned' it wouldn't be to PRC. TW would be returned to Japan. Japan was the last sovereign foreign country that ruled TW.

                          • @hippo2s: according to Potsdam Conference. Japan is not allowed to have any right on Colonial and Normal State Sovereignty. Seen like you have forgot it.

          • +2

@kungfuman: If you're insinuating China Airlines is a Chinese airline you'd be mistaken. Despite the misleading name, it's actually a Taiwanese carrier.

        • +1

STARLUX too, I flew business from Taipei to LAX last month, and the service and food were excellent.

          • @T-man: They should just rebrand to Taiwan Airline. It's no longer a government enterprise so they can if they want.

      • This thread has gotten BIG on you. You probably should have left it at ^

Got to love airline percentage-off sales.

Here, why don't you take one number we made up off another number we made up, to get to the "sale" price of your flight - which will probably be more than you would have paid last week for the same flight, and who knows, probably even more than you'll pay next week when this sale is over!

Love EVA, got a business class flight to Sapporo on Krisflyer points. Best flight I've taken (lounge sucks in Taipei but just go to the SQ one)

    • Taipei is their home lounge. A bit crowed for me. I find their BKK lounge is good and decent shower.

      • +1

Yes and for a home base lounge it sucks.

So much so that SQ opened their own despite being S*. And I saw all the Yanks flying home on United were also in the SQ lounge.

It's a pity you can't get their direct flights out of Aus on SQ Krisflyer. And even on Canadian Aeroplan they seem to only be releasing single J seats these days.

Were they ever partnered with Virgin Velocity years back or is my memory deceiving me?

$2k for a return trip to Taipei though.

  • I don't seem to be able to find any flights Sydney to Taipei in December.

Do they only fly out of Brisbane?

    • Yes. BNE only.

    • Only China Airlines fly direct (code share with QAN) from Sydney.

You could do a domestic leg to BNE then to TPE.

I miss the precovid flights on cheap airlines AirAsia via KLIA or Scoot via SG, then to KHH as option

    • +1

      Yeh only from Brisbane.
You can visit Bluey World beforehand

They exclusively hire teenagers to pilot their Eva's.

Getting negged because of the missing /s tag? Rei or Asuka?

      • +2

Wow. Neon Genesis Evangelion is dead it seems.

I refuse to use the /s.

        asuka every time

  • error code ?
    getting the below error
Please enter a valid event code

    • I’m getting, “Bad Gateway 402”

  • Looks like they only fly out from Brisbane, no flight from Melbourne to Europe, and a flight from Tokyo to Melbourne takes 35 hours…

    • The transit time in TPE doesn't line up. But you can spend the night or day in Taipei City, go visit 101 or night market to kill time.

      • except ticket price is higher than direct QF flight even after 10% discount…

  • -1

    Any deals?

What's a return flight option for price comparison with these guys?

  • I’m getting “please enter a valid event code”. What are the restrictions ? I’m looking at flights from Sydney to Europe. Are there any exclusions? dates etc?

Glad to hear they're a good airline - but I found their web site infuriating.
Whenever it can't find flights, which is often, you have to go back to the beginning.
In the end I gave up. 10% off is hardly worthwhile anyways - better to wait for sales with 30+% off - 10% is roughly how much Coles discounts food that's about to go off… neither is worth it.

Much better if they gave concrete examples of flights and prices.

  • I tried to find a flight 4-Nov from Melbourne to Vancouver, Canada and return in early Jan, 2026. No flight available :(
