      XXXX obfuscation.

Can you DM me the details please?

        • +1

          no

  • Who would pay 85 for an unknown unmarked bottle of wine?

      The wine arrives fully labeled

      ChatGPT agrees

    • Seems like a pretty good wine.

I had to revoke my vote as I didn't get a reply while other people who replied long after me did.

Too much secrecy here for me. I'm out.

  • Should start banning these blind boxed ads.

    • It would help the case of them keeping it a secret.

  • +5

I totally don't get the whole 'Secret wine, 98 points (from some paid review site and reviewer) worth heaps at the cellar door but yours for 800 bucks off a dozen

    Like come on, seriously?

    • +1

I would jump onto it if it's from Halliday Companion, not all 96 points are equal.

  • Please stop adding wine rating points to your deal title.

    • Sure thing

    • Why?

      • These rating points (and also medals) are subjectively awarded by "wine experts". The rating points and medals are not part of the product name.

        • Would love to upvote you, but that button is NA for mod's replies.

        • Oh that makes sense. I misread you and thought you wanted it removed from the description.

    I'm in.

    • Received today. Confirming wine is Ulithorne Paternus.

I've been buying from these deals regularly and am very happy. I probably couldn't pick the 96 point from the 94 point but I've been getting wines that I would be happy to pay $20 for, for $10-15. I won't get this deal as I have several boxes still to drink! But when stocks run low I'll return to these guys for more.

    • +4

Same here. My wine rack, and the cupboard next to it, is full with very good wine for under $10 a bottle. If I had a cellar I’d consider this one but it will just got to waste with my habits.

      • -3

"very good wine for under $10 a bottle"

Sorry to burst your bubble. These two don't go together, particularly for cellaring.

A good starter is Wynns Black for cellaring, sub $20 a bottle.

        • I think you’ve missed the point here.

The wine in this deal would be good for cellaring and it’s about $17 a bottle.

          https://winepilot.com/ulithorne-paternus-coonawarra-mclaren-…

Other wines I’ve bought from this same supplier have also had very good reviews and cellaring potential and have been purchased for about $7 a bottle.

          Besides I said I don’t have a cellar. I’m a drinker not a hodler.

    • +7

Agreed. Don’t care about the points. But compared to wine for the same price at Dan’s, I’ve been happy with previous purchases. So eg for this deal my experience says that this will be better than other $17 bottles of red you’ll get at a bottleo.

Will it taste like an $85 bottle? Hell no. But maybe something $25 to $30.

      • It's this wine. Legit 85/bottle. Definitely a step above a 25 to 30 dollar bottle that's for sure.

I'll pitch in. I've bought 3 dozen wines from these guys (Devitt & Moore, Prosperitas and Schild Estate) and have been extremely happy with them. And I come from a wine snob family and they also approve of them.

    • -4

      "a wine snob family"

What kind of snob? The badge snob equivalent when shopping for a car? If that is the case, then it doesn't say much.

Maybe something from a wine snob connoisseur that can tell tobacco from chocolate in a blind taste is more credible.

      • +1

A wine snob snob? Meta AF!

      • +3

A mum that has a degree specialising in wine marketing, worked for several wineries, and brought home high quality wine during my entire upbringing.

    • +1

agree! can't fault these guys, I have recommended them to tons of close families and friends and they also can't get enough of these. I have bought probably 10+ dozens of these Cabernet Shirazes.

  • Hi does it have a cork?
