Given it's hallucinating as much as ever, it's a real concern for the improvement 'curve' turning into a slump.

Been using two days already and its very decent. Much better than auto at least :)

It took me 3 goes to convince it there was no sultanas in my 'fruit free Muesli' - and even then I think it was just agreeing with me for the sake of it by that point. It may be improving generally, but its still lagging in key areas that will progress it to the promised 'narrow AGI' everyone seems to think it's heading towards.

        • +2

sorry I meant i am using it in Cursor, just for coding not existential questions haha

        • Are you sure there were no Sultanas? I mean, maybe you ate them and forgot?

    Great at Pyscholdelic Talking.

I use it now to play dungeons and dragons, as I have alienated all my RL friends.

    • Friends? You mean like the TV show?

  • Does that mean I can subscribe to Cursor instead of OpenAI's subscription to get the same access to GPT-5?

    • +2

Just use Claude code, it’s so much better

      • I need chatgpt for general purpose anyway (nappy recommendation etc), can Claude code do that?

        • +2

You can use Claude desktop. It’s the same subscription.
          So yes.

        • +1

For general purpose, you can also subscribe to Microsoft 365 which has access to all MS Office stuff, plenty of cloud storage and also standalone copilot with GPT-5. Probably be cheaper than subscribing to chatgpt. There are always deals on for MS 365 subscription too

      • What makes Claude Code so much better?

I'd be interested in hearing some feedback - I'm used to VSC so Roo Code and/or Cursor were the next big logical leaps for me.

While I'm comfortable in a terminal I just feel like it would be restrictive. Having said that, I'm yet to use it…

        • +2

The difference is that Claude code can actually perform what you ask, and so it becomes a lot more like chatting. Obviously you’ll want to have vs-code open to dive-in but as long as you give good architectural guidance and requirements then Claude code absolutely nails it.

          • @Commodore64: I thought gpt4 (copilot for vscode) was pretty good. I think I'll have to give Claude code a go to see how it is. Thanks

  • Which of these AI models is worth subscribing to? Are they all generic or does each serve a specific purpose?

Personally, Perplexity Pro is worth it as it has Dall 3, Grok, Claude, ChatGPT etc in one.

Go on 2ga for a one-year membership will set you back about $10AUD for one year, opposed to $20/month ($33 AUD) or $360.

      • +1

Thanks! Do you know if these stack?

      • What else can we get on 2ga? Claude?

      • +1

        What is 2ga?

        • Is it G2A?

        • Like @EyyBanane surmised, he meant G2A. Key is currently $6.09 USD

          • @OZBMate8911: Do you have a link please? Is it legit?

            • +1

@1Kenobi: G2A has been around for ages. You can find it here

            • @1Kenobi: There are instances where they just ban you - but I guess at that price even if you get 1month's usage it's more than worth it.

              • @Twilight1234: Been using for 6-months, have 4-friend all used it - not a single issue ever.

      • +1

Thank you King! that's a cracking deal

Check Optus as well, they were giving away 12 months sub to Perplexity

        • They'll only give it to you on post paid plans FYI

    • What do you want to do with it? I'm a Claude fan boi. However, if you just want it for general use, searching web then perplexity pro is great value. Plenty of places selling legit year accounts dirt cheap.

    • I like openrouter the one API to rule them all.

Used the agent mode on Friday for work, GPT-5 seems better than the rest so far.

  • Perplexity Pro does seem to offer GPT-5 right?

    • +1

      Correct, just checked

  • just realised this: even though perplexity pro offers gpt-5, there may be operational constraints compared to using gpt-5 directly from open ai

    • It's a bit like Boost Mobile and Telsta.
