I did at City2surf expo last week, was $20 each and buy Two get One free lol.

Was excited so I checked again, nah mate, I need the resist quarter socks. Really cheap at the expo considering its only $20 each.
Which Balega socks do people recommend? Was looking at the Hidden Comfort. Need something for both walking and running
I got given some Balega but they've worn faster than the Falke Stride, which I prefer. Both were excellent running socks though, so I think you can't go too wrong whatever you choose there.
I use the blister resistant socks for running. Don’t know how they would go for, say, a 12 hour hike but imagine they will be pretty good

Looks like I lucked out, looks like it works on items that are reduced but where the price is still in black.
Specifically, the Brooks Glycerin 22 has an RRP of $279.95 but some variants are currently reduced to $229.94. Have you tried making your own gels? Really easy, and ingredients not hard to source. Save a ton of cash.

I used the quantities from the reddit Maurten 100 recipe, put it in an excel spreadsheet, and now can tweak the quantity based on how many grams or carbs I want. Mix it up in a smoothie maker/blender (I have one with a small cup). Takes me about 10 minutes to mix up my gels the night before a long run.
There's a little wastage, but very minimal - and when your raw ingredients cost cents, then who cares.I reckon i’d struggle with the flavour of maple syrup on a 2hr+ run - but the point is well made, fuelling doesn’t need to be expensive or complicated!

I have been doing this for a year now. Really recommend it. Saved hundreds of bucks by now probably. I don't use pectin or alginate or anything to change the texture, just have it as liquid texture.
Maltodextrin 50g + fructose 40g + for 1:0.8 ratio. I think that's the equivalent to 3 maurtens… total ingredient costs probably less than a dollar. It fits in a 150mL flask and I just take sips as I go.
A touch of honey and lemon juice and tastes better than any gel I've had, but tbh doesn't even need thatYeah I just buy glucose syrup and dilute it and add some flavoured drink powder.
Gels being $4-6 is a friggin joke. It's not like there's any cooking or special ingredients required

Brand really doesn't matter, they're all really basic ingredients. For the "replica" Maurten 100 gel that I make there's only 4 ingredients. If you don't care about the 1:0.8 ratio, then you can skip the glucose and just use table sugar (but increase the sugar quantity accordingly).
- Table Sugar (whatever cheap table sugar you want)
- Glucose (can buy cheap from baking stores, or suppliments stores. I bought from chemist warehouse for convenience).
- Sodium Alginate (E401) & Calcium Gluconate - bought from ebay.It's mostly all sugar. If you use glucose, then it's about 11% glucose, 89% sugar.
To make the equivalent of 10 gels, it's 2g Sodium Alginate, 0.65g Calcium Gluconate.
I bought 30g Sodium Alginate for $9, 25g Calcium Gluconate for $10. Enough for equivalent 150 gels. Can get cheaper if you buy in higher quantities…

Superblast 3 released in March 2026. I'll wait… should be good until then.
Yep this was my purchase. Already have a pair and definitely don't need a second right now but at this price I'm happy to have them waiting in the cupboard.

Cheers OP, got a pair of Brooks Ghost 17s , Mizuno WaveRunners and socks. In case it helps anyone, it's best to buy two pairs of shoes if you're able. The reason being is that the foam needs time to 'reset' in between uses. This way both pairs will last longer.
I've been told this theory hasn't been validated. I hear it from runners just as often as I do that continuous running in one pair achieves the same performance and durability outcomes.
just depends how often you are running! if you are continuously running 10k+, 5 times a week, in the same pair of shoes that might be too much wear. but if you only do a 5km park run each week, one pair is probably fine.
there's also the argument that rotating shoes also helps with injury prevention too!

It'd be hard to tell if they actually last longer, unless tracking KMs and having a baseline to compare to.

Try getting JB weld at your nearest supercheap or even amazon. Get the one that is for high temperature. However, this is probably just a band aid and will buy you some time months or perhaps a year depending on the severity of the damage. In the end, you probably need to cahnge your radiator.
