Out of interest, is Avis status like preferred plus or presidents club still a thing in Australia?
I must have 20+ rentals under my belt but I haven't been offered status yet. I am thinking about moving to Hertz since they seem to still offer status.
When calling Avis they wouldn't confirm nor deny the status levels or how far away I am, they only said that status tiers are "invite only" in Australia.
Avis status - Certainly something to put on your resume or drop into conversation at parties.
I guess it helps with it on a resume as they know they know they are willing to travel
it gives you benefits, it's not to use in a dick waving competitiion
What are the benefits?
Personally, when considering a rental car , I always search multiple car rental aggregate sites and make an informed decision that way.
Or ask ozbargain.
Avis what?
I have some form of status with them from my Plat Amex, but have literally never hired from them as prices have never been competitive for me.
Hertz I have used a couple of times but not often competitive price wise either.

IMHO almost all car hire and hotel loyalty programmes are basically worthless with their "we will try to give you an upgrade if we feel like it", and maybe 10% off some ridiculous rack rate.
Definitely like my Avis Preferred at the airport. Just walk straight to the car, the key is in the car and you can drive off. No paperwork.
