No bonus points on $50 TCN Gift cards so title is slightly misleading.

Runs from Wed 20 Aug to Tue 26 Aug 2025
    Only available in-store at Coles
Excludes $30 and $50 TCN Gift gift cards
    Excludes $25 Netflix gift cards
Limit of five gift cards per Flybuys account

Edit: title has been edited but leaving this comment up for other details

    • When you say limit 5 cards per account does it mean one can get for example 5 x $50 Netflix cards for 5 x 1000 points?

  • Are these susceptible to tampering like the debit cards or are they relatively safe?

    • +3

It is unusual to see the TCN multi-retailer gift cards (in this deal, Gift and Shop) and TCN experience gift cards (in this deal, Pamper) being tampered when compared with Coles/Vanilla Mastercard gift cards, Vanilla Visa gift cards and TCN eftpos gift cards. However, there has been at least one recent report of variable load TCN Teen gift cards at Woolworths being tampered. Considering the packaging for TCN multi-retailer gift cards and TCN experience gift cards do not require you to rip it open before you can access the activation barcode or other gift card information, before you make a purchase, have a quick look at the back of the gift card to see whether any of the information has been scratched off, as well as whether someone has stuck a different activation barcode on top of the one printed on the gift card.1

I have never heard reports of Netflix gift cards being tampered, but it is prudent to check the activation barcode before purchase to see whether someone has stuck a different activation barcode on top of the one printed on the gift card.

      1. I have personally seen TCN eftpos gift cards at Coles and Woolworths being tampered with a random activation barcode stuck on top of the one printed on the gift card. I could tell immediately something was off about the gift card, because someone photocopied the random activation barcode using an inkjet printer and standard A4 paper. However, if I did not know how gift card tampering works, I probably would not have even looked at the back of the gift card too closely!

Thanks for the info. So do you think the eftpos gift cards are relatively safe if your eyes aren’t painted on or are they legitimately risky? It seems crazy to me that the eftpos cards are the ones that are less protected

If you know what to look for in terms of tampering, I think it would be less risky to purchase these TCN gift cards than most other gift cards (particularly Apple gift cards). Of course, there is the risk that someone has correctly guessed the card number and PIN before you get around to using your gift card, but that is a risk you are going to encounter for a lot of gift cards, not just the TCN gift cards in this deal.

I would like to think that TCN will get around to upgrading the security of the packaging for their multi-retailer and experience gift cards. Recent versions of the TCN eftpos gift cards and TCN Luxury eftpos gift cards sold at Woolworths have the gift card hidden inside the packaging, where you need to rip off a tab to expose the activation barcode and the gift card information. Of course, that is not a perfect solution, as someone could have tampered the packaging beforehand, but that requires at least some effort…

    • This remind me of this case https://www.compass.info/news/article/pensioner-takes-nab-to…. Im rooting for him

  • So if I buy 5 $50 Netflix I get 5000 points or is there a limit?

    • +1

5 (per flybuys account) is the limit for any combination of the gift cards

Nooo, that’s a 25% increase from the Standard with ads! :(

    • What a joke. You could get multiple streaming services in the past for the price of their higher tiers and the content wasn’t spread as thinly as it is now
