The flames on the racquet of the Kyri-Ace picture are coming out of the racquet the wrong way…

    • no theyre not

      • Yes they are. And it's they're.
        Unless it's his underarm serve.

        • +1

you dont do a backhand underarm serve, the pose is just the follow through after he's hit the ball, the racket starts from the right and moves upwards and forwards, this is the position he finishes in

    • +2

I agree… It's supposed to be an ACE from a serve, the racquet will be traveling into the flames. Total fail.

He needs to pay us to buy and use his merchandise :)

  • +7

Where's the bargain? The bags of rags from Supercheap are of better quality.

  • +8

There's no way I'm taking this merch if they're only paying us $5 to do so.

Edit: Wait! We have to pay $5 for it!?

I do feel bad about this joke as it is also for charity, so chucked a tenner to Kids In Sport as penance

  • +2

Nahh, Not even if he's paying.

    Pass.

Out of curiosity I took a look into this site "Tennis Only" and found associated domains including "Total Pickleball" and "Running Warehouse" all selling the same NK stuff with the same discounts.. Not insinuating anything untoward, just thought that was kinda funny.

The NK plush doll though, now that's the real crime..

They need a ring pull on the side. You pull the string and it has a tantrum.

      • It'll only stop having a tantrum when it gets your undivided attention. LOOK AT ME!

    • +1

They probably bought up all the NK merch at what they thought was a bargain price, thinking they'd make bank by on selling. Only to realise his popularity was due to being a deadbeat and that no one would actually wear any of his shit lol

      • The thing is, this network of affiliated sites is the only place to actually buy the merch. The merch link on his NK Foundation website goes directly to Tennis Only. Not sure if it qualifies as a bargain if it isn't being sold anywhere else (let alone being sold at a higher price anywhere else)..

North Korean plushes would be interesting…..

The NK plush doll though, now that's the real crime

I have a feeling its being used for voodoo ceremonies. Probably would explain the constant injuries this guy seems to suffer from.

His "foundation" looks so scammy…no details beyond a claimed plan to build a tennis centre (they don't have a location, just a shitty render that looks 15yr out of date), nothing about charity status, nothing about a board or financials, the list of "partners" is a collection of literal "who?". Contact information is a mobile number, no address or email. Seems like it's going under too if they have slashed all merch to $5 and it still doesn't appear to be moving.

    • Domain is registered to Kyrgios Family Holdings. Who aren’t ACNC or DGR either

      • +2

Nah the NK foundation is registered with ACNC though

        https://www.acnc.gov.au/charity/charities/8e9bc2b2-3aaf-e811…

The most recent annual report / finances showed they brought in $8k in 2023 with net expenses $80k+, and net assets of $48k. At that rate it just looks like they are pretty much bankrupt by now (which tracks with this post)

        • Well there you go. I didn’t look further than Who is and the abn on that.

        • +1

Last published report notes 1 employee costing the business.. sorry, charity $66,600. Wonder if its Nick

          • +2

@Matt P: From what I could see it had mainly been used from 2018-now to fund 1 paid employee.

ACNC lists three directors including Nick's father. With ACNC you have to list an email for contact which goes to one of the other directors. Dunno if one of them is on the "payroll", Nick himself or just someone else. Not a good look though when you line that knowledge up with what it says on the website:

"A couple of years ago I had a vision: to build a facility for disadvantaged and underprivileged kids where they could hang out, be safe and feel like they were part of a family. There’d be tennis courts and basketball courts and a gym and oval to kick the footy. There’d be food to eat and beds to sleep in.

I discussed this idea with my mum, Norlaila, and my brother, Christos. It’s all I’ve been thinking about outside of tennis. When I’m not playing or training, I’m working on this.

We are currently in the process of scoping out land in Melbourne and actively looking for organisations and businesses to partner with."

My bold added - but it sure makes it sound like he is the one working on it, yet there's been literally zero actual progress on the "vision" other than selling merch, advertising the charity, and paying a certain someone…

Love how they didnt forget to include his ferrari in the render

    • +2

Sniff of the Warnie Foundation about it?

  • +1

One of his shirts says King Kyrgios, yeah ok, not full of it aye…

  • Ash Barty was the world’s number one female player but all the press did was give us articles on this tool’s latest meltdown. The guy pissed his talent up against the wall. Tennis should be about the skilled players not the spoilt brats. Frankly I’m glad he has retired. I hope he was wise with his money so we don’t need to hear about him again, however I doubt it.

    • Hate to break it to you but he isn't retired, in fact he's playing US Open in a couple of weeks. But he has been pretty much out of it for 2 years or so.

      • Oh dear. Suspect he won’t get past the first round.
