I did a manual search on Ozbargain for previous Osmo Pocket 3 deals, and this looks like it's an ATL! (however, happy to stand corrected - and if anybody knows an easier way to check ATL - please feel free to do so in comments).

The creator combo is also available @ DigiDirect for $979 - however this deal is cheaper (posted by another Ozbarginer): https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/919581

  • $654 for the Action 5 PRO adventure pack, so tempting…

  • I bought one, so DJI will likely announce a much improved Pocket 4 in the near future.

The Good Guys Commercial store might be cheaper if you have access - previously reported as $706.

      It is $727 actually.

    • when is the 4 out?

      • Based on previous release cycles, probably not until late 2026 at the earliest.

  • do these work under water? or do you need some kind of casing for it like the go pros?

    • You can buy a waterproof case, but the device itself isn't water resistant like an action camera. GoPro and DJI Osmo Action cameras are waterproof out of the box down to at least 10m - no need for a case unless you're scuba diving.

      • i am trying to work out if I should just get a underwater casing for my Canon R50 or some kind of action came with water casing, because water casings for the R50 cost over a 1k or more.

An action camera without a case (unless you're going very deep) seems like a safer bet - sturdier and cheaper than the Pocket 3, and easier to operate since you can interact with it directly.

Agree with Quppa - The pocket 3 are supposedly pretty fragile overall from all my research. As someone who scuba dives, your best bet is something like the Action 4, 5 Pro or Go Pro. I've scuba dived with a Go Pro 5 and it's fine for photos/videos, I can only imagine how much better the newer products are.

The underwater casing would be the best bet if you are looking for the best quality photos etc (IMO), BUT the flip side is that you need to be pretty comfortable and experienced (in terms of buoyancy control etc) to really get the most out of say a Canon R50, because I feel like that would take up more headspace (in terms of having to pay attention to taking photos etc) while an action camera is tiny, even when mounted to a gimbal that's tied to your wrist, I feel like its an afterthought (at least when I'm diving).

Hopefully the above makes sense, I guess what I'm trying to say is for me, having a tiny action camera allows me to focus more on my surroundings and buoyancy control etc when diving, as opposed if I had a proper camera (like Canon R50), I'd be more focused on trying to get the right shot, which means less time to think about your surroundings/buoyancy control (not a bad thing, but if you're not good with it to begin with, having equipment may not help).

    • As others have said, this is probably not the camera you are looking for. Any DJI Action model, or GoPro (from version 11 up, I'd say) will be better for you. What people buy this camera for is the integrated gimbal, offering mechanical three-axis stabilisation, and a 1 inch sensor, but with them comes the fragility and bigger size.
