It's really $909 due to the compulsory $110 tip. Title should be updated.

    • The only date at that price is 08-11-2025 too

    • +1

Their tipping is suggesting $20/day not the usually $10

      • -5

Just to clarify, the tipping guideline for this tour is an average of $12 AUD per traveller per day, which is standard for group tours of this nature.

We kindly ask that information shared with other travellers is accurate to avoid any confusion or misunderstanding.

Thanks again for your understanding and support.

And once again I find myself asking, what happens if one doesn't tip and brings zero dollars with them at all?

        • +1

Except in China tipping isn't customary and is actually considered an offensive gesture…. But sure guess that's one way to get some extra funds

When did communism start making tipping mandatory??
Mao would be rolling in his mausoleum.

      • +5

        You mean his maosoleum.

      • They aren't communists.

When I first visited last millenium the American tourists were tipping guides, drivers, bar staff etc

I suspect they imported the tipping culture through what they perceived as generosity.

$799 + $110 is still an incredible deal — honestly, I doubt you’ll find anything better than this, mate! 😉

    • +2

Tipping is expected, and we are meant to familiarise ourselves with tipping culture of the country.
The country is China - no tipping expected.
      Somewhat contradictory.
Don't tip - the last thing you'd want is people not being paid correctly, as they aren't in the USA and other third-world employment environments.

    "and other service personnel" nice.

Return international economy class airfare with "defaulted airlines" ? Is it Hainan airlines like the logo suggests ?

  • Seems suss t&c :

In the event that the tour you have purchased is unable to proceed or a travel supplier is unable to fulfil the tour due to external circumstances (such as a Force Majeure event), there may be a fee or amount of money that is withheld by our suppliers and is unrecoverable. This could be due to non-refundable airline tickets, cancellation penalties with cruise cabins, or unrecoverable payments with our land/accommodation partners. As your agent, Better Trip is committed to covering these costs and will make every effort to recover all funds committed and/or paid for your tour. However, please note that this may not be possible in every circumstance. If refunds are unavailable from our suppliers, we will strive to obtain a travel credit with the best possible terms and communicate these options to you. If Better Trip cannot obtain a refund, travel service credit, or only a partial refund, this cost will be passed on to the customer as a supplier fee. It is important to note that this fee is not intended to generate revenue but to cover the payments our suppliers withhold during the recovery process.

  • I think it’s a good deal with flights + hotels included.

  • So can we get the flights booked to arrive several days before and/or depart several days after the core tour? This is what killed this type of tripping deal from another company for me.
Aussies can enter China visa free for 30 days at the moment - shame to waste the opportunity.

You can! Ive booked to go on this trip a few months back! I was able to customise the itinerary and staying a few days before and after. Some additional cost to cover the flight cost as I made use of staying at the transit stops.

I did check a few of the other agents one tripadeal - won’t make any customisation and AVG had cost for customisation.

Interesting business model- when calling them - the person answering phone would take message then past to travel agent to follow up. I would encourage to persist! Once linked to an agent it does get a bit more streamline. The agent I had - Jackie was phenomenal! She knew exactly the itinerary I was going for - maximise efficiency, manage cost, jammed packed of things to see and make most of trip. She did some costing for hotel - some cheaper than booking.com (though hotel quoted were already affiliated with them)

(Though part of me think when seeing this deal on here - damn could save $100 if I waited 😅)

The spelling and grammar mistakes in the itinerary isn't exactly encouraging…

    Is it adults only?

  • Why are your optional tours so much more expensive that the comparable tours from other countries?

Realistically this deal is good for money
I have actually analysed each day
Some days you have free time in the afternoon and evening - Google & watch YouTube what things you can do in this time
China - download Alipay (watch YouTube)
All hotels are 30min. from CBD - but if you plan it well you can do things.
Eg… Shanghai - walking along The Bund
Afternoon is free time - Google what other things to do in this area.
Book Didi transport via Alipay (is like Uber in Australia) to take you back to hotel, it's never as expensive as taxi in Australia.
All under paid tours have the tips - tripAdeal, AVG tours going to Europe, Asian, USA,
Why tipping - the guides in China are never paid by tour company so the tips are the wages.
When travelling to any country in the world, including Australia, if you wish to avoid tips - plan your own tour.

  • Good luck with Google and YouTube. And yes, from my experience during frequent visits to China, I agree tipping is not an acceptable thing. So that $110 is a mystery.
