woops, MOD has edited :D
27" - 1080p. Ew.
200Hz = good.
27" at 1080p = bad.Can't recommend that size/res combo to anyone.
well, I would if I was in my early 20s. good size, higher refresh rate, low res means lower pressure on graphics card. works great for budget FPS player.
all in all, can't complain at this price point
The price might be good, doesn't mean people should assault their eyeballs with horrible pixel density. It would be better to stick to 24".
I am looking at getting a 27" - is 1080p that bad?
(mainly running 2 windows - text editing and browser).@Ti-au: I have a 2560x1080p monitor, bigger screen with similar pixels. It's fine. It gets really good FPS with mid range GPU's and while the the image isn't as sharp, I have nothing to compare it too so it's fine! Just don't think about it, you won't notice it unless you've come from a 2k or 4k monitor.
I feel personally attacked :P
Okay….
I have a 27" @ 1920 x 1080 :P
things will get better. but I do miss those days with plenth of time and little money
yeah not even good enough for a e-sports monitor the min for those monitors is 1080p 320hz.
I dont really know what resolution you're expecting at 200hz for under $180.
exactly….. why won't them go for the 27" Odyssey OLED G8 G81SF 4K 240Hz Gaming Monitor which is on sale now for 1199.
A high enough resolution to make it an actual OzBargain.
The res is fine, the pixel density is not. Stick to 24" at 1080p.
24" 200hz 1080p would be better
There's a QHD 180Hz for only $30 more - much better option imo.
https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/919177nothing beats dell customer service though..
Dell definitely has better brand sentiment overall, but my AOC has been going strong for 5yrs without any issues.
Considering that 27" QHD 180Hz is close to this price point, I'm expecting a 24" FHD 280Hz monitor.
See's
200hz :)
27" :))
$176 :)))
1080 :((((looking at my GTX 1080 :DDD
1080 is not that bad :D
Using one at work. 27" 1080p. It's fine.
But how bad is the quality at 27" FHD? I have a 34" Ultra wide 1440p and the quality is great, I don't think it would be that much worse no?
Believe me, when you jump from looking at a 24" 1080p to a 27" 1080p it's extremely noticeable. Pixel density is far lower and image quality suffers significantly as a result.
I was about to pull the trigger on the 27" FHD 360hz Alienware monitor yesterday. Now you are making me second guess myself about what I want.
I'd just try to find a high quality 1080p 24 inch monitor. I regret getting my 27 inch 1440p monitor. The screen size is nice but my enjoyment of games hasn't changed much, and I'd get more out my graphics card if I stuck to 1080p.
The thing I want the most these days is the best colour reproduction, for cheap, since i can't afford OLED.
@Badger2066: Yeh this is the reason why I want to go with 1080p, I have the Ultra wide 34" 1440p and running 6750XT and get 100fps on warzone with most setting on low or off. And the screen is a bit too big. So I might see what I can find in the 24" size.
Cheers,
Recommend us a esports 24" 1080p monitor that won't break the bank
Any recommendations?
@serpserpserp: Lol I thought you were going to recommend one.
I found a few but I think this is decent:
AOC 25G3ZM 24.5" Full HD 240Hz Gaming Monitor - JB Hifi for $219
I notice it when I jump from using higher resolution screens to the old fhd but my eyes just kinda get used to it and it doesn't bother me after a day.
if you can afford better, go for it, but FHD savings don't just stop at the monitor, it lets you run cheaper GPUs and upgrade less often.Yeh I have a half decent gpu but I'm sure it'll run much better on FHD than on 34 Ultra Wide 1440p.thats just the reason.
I've been using a 1080p 27" for a number of years now- It's perfectly fine imo.
For slightly older and/or esports games the picture quality is more than enough cause usually you have enough performance to add a good bit of supersampling anyway. That's what I do anyway, games look crisp. CS2 @ 1440p with 2x MSAA looks super clean for example and runs really well.
For modern AAA games, you gotta hope the temporal anti-aliasing implementation isn't forced or isn't dogshit. If it is, you may have to supersample from at least 1440p to 1080p to get an 'acceptable' picture quality- If you have enough GPU power.
^ One thing you can try if you don't have the performance to spare is to use FSR/DLSS/XeSS at a lower internal resolution whilst aiming for a higher resolution than native. This means that the different buffers that those TAA-based upscaling algorithms use will have more accurate information to work with to help the lower internal resolution, before it's all being crammed back down to 1080p.
Dunno if any of that makes sense and I feel like i'm just rambling. Tbh I think alot of that stuff i'm talking about would bother me even if I had a 24" 1080p display. I'm really sensitive to bad temporal anti-aliasing which seems to be the norm these days. I would go as far as saying I would rather have a sharp, pixelated, no-AA image than a poorly TAA'd one.
I have two of these, they look fine, well worth the price - especially if you get the student discount
Do you play games on them and what games if so?
I play dota 2 and CS2 on these, they work perfectly fine. Not a professional player so it's not that important
Nice nice, I'm caught up between 25" FHD or 27" QHD. Dell has a dual resolution mode monitor 27" 4K and FHD 360.
I already have a 34" ultrawide 1440p monitor that I will use for work, I just need a gaming monitor for the 5 or 6 hours of Warzone I play a week.
I'm not really sure how well these newer 60hz+ units perform in real world scenario. 200hz is cool and all but pretty useless if the pixel response times are garbage.
Such a meh deal lol can get 1440p monitors for like $50 more
where?
type in QHD into the search bar. Lots of recent options under $220
this would be good for work, but wouldn't use for intense gaming.
I'd like to retract my (+) vote… I didn't realise it was FHD
My darling S2721DGF is going to the grave with me.
FYI - Dell 24'' FHD 200Hz Monitor - SE2425HG for $132.14 with coupon
https://www.dell.com/en-au/shop/dell-24-200hz-monitor-se2425…$126.16 via student store but how do these monitors rate? I'm keen for a small gaming monitor but not sure which one to go for.
My boner left immediately after seeing FHD
Where did it go? Asking for a friend.
Worth noting fhd in the title.
