Can I just get a tdlr (watch) ?
Nah, you have to watch this 20 minutes https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wvyb9Mp69ew, it's eye opening yet typical and expected Chinese "do it cheap and cut corners" stuff. Once it collapses there's going to be thousands of unhappy customers here in Australia thinking "what was I thinking".
I am going to wait for one of those 0km used BYDs.
Doesit have a 360 camera?
No. Its only on the next 2 grades up.
Look i know Jeeps arent great cars in Aus but the amount of hate Jeep gets yet these shit box chinsse cars get OPs circle jerking each other on here is weird to me
Mate, rule #1 — never mention the triple-G club: Great Leader, Great Country, Great People. OzB ain’t what it used to be… bees have stingers now 🐝😏
What are you talking about?
Oh, I think we are witnessing the actual “circlejerk” in action…
@pegaxs: Thats pretty uncalled for and not very nice - the community seems to have mistaken items being 'cheap for items being of value'is the only point i was making
Which wasn't the case 4-5 years ago, these Chinese cars are cheap for a reason im not against them its good to have more competition in the market but the hate other brands get is strange borderline Chinese pinkies
The deal for the Jeep got flamed whilst everyone seems to be like yea this is mad whilst Jeeps arent great there build quality is a mile better then BYD, MG etc they also have been around for a lot longer
Which wasn't the case 4-5 years ago
Yeah Japanese cars and Korean cars were also ridiculed in the beginning. The problem is legacy car makers are content with sitting still or putting out rubbish (Americans).

you missed the point, i wasnt ridiculing Chinese cars i was point out double standards which i find odd
i welcome the competition, but i do question the community consistency
Essential trim level. This is normal price. Now Bees please excuse me. This is not a deal. Feel free to swarm and sting when you are ready 😁
It's a PHEV too. The post doesn't mention that, it only mentions EV.
Why would you buy this if you could get a Camry hybrid for the same price? Is it because of a rotating screen? Camry has more power. Is quicker. And Camry has better fuel economy at 4l per 100km vs 5.3l per 100 km. Or is it because people want a SUV? Camry has way better dealer support, better resale
Personally I’d take the Camry in a heart beat at the same price. Easiest decision I’d ever make.
Camry isn’t a SUV, should compare like Toyota RAV4 instead?
BTW, Sealion 6 is a PHEV, which you can charge the battery directly instead of using fuel to generate power to charge the battery, so if you are driving for short range (a full charge probably can run 60-80km) and you have solar at home, you might just use solar without spending $1 fuel
I am comparing to Camry hybrid as it's almost identically priced but yeah RAV4, an extra $2k is ball park. Come resale you will at the very least get that $2k back and probably way more. RAV4 effectively cheaper over life, you'd need to be doing a lot of battery driving to make up the value.
I just dont see the value in BYD's pricing when you can get a Toyota for almost the same price, and you can get Toyota in actual colours rather than shades of grey. I just dont get it. Okay so you might be better fuel economy in the PHEV in very specific scenarios if you remember to keep it charged.
I believe there are many factors in getting a car, that’s why even Toyota has Lexus brand, for BYD in particular, both interior and exterior looks way more attractive and appealing than traditional ICE car, and also many tech advance feature like heated and cooling seats, panoramic glass roof, remotely turning on vehicle, self parking etc. All these features are fancy and not essentials, but they distinguish from a Camry
@littlesoldier: I dont like any of those extra features and would prefer not to have glass pano roof, seriously in our Aussie sun?. remote ignition, self parking, just all stuff I'd never use. But I do get that the BYD has a better showroom appeal with a bit of extra sparkle but seems like bad value to me.
If it was $39,990 drive away then yeah I see the value then, but $44k, nah.
@Brick Tamland: Then just stick with your Camry, no one force you to “like” a BYD, Toyota is still the best selling brand as of today so market does says many are still standing at your point
Camry has more power. Is quicker
That's your requirements? Most people can't even park their cars properly.
Because the underlying tech is different. Can roughly says that BYD is A EV car with extra ICE engine, Toyota is A ICE car with extra e motor.
BYD Customer Service and Car serving worst I've ever experienced.
Please expand
You'll be waiting a while.
So many poeople always mention this, but never care to elaborate. Are the customer service rude? Incompetent? What is it?
More like incompetent.
I've got an example for sales but this one is for service.
I booked my car in for a 40,000 km service. They booked me for a public holiday, so I had to change the date as it got closer.
My car only has 15,000 km on it. I also asked them to look at the rear wiper, which has had issues since day one.
They do the service. They do a 20k service because they got confused…wiper not looked at or fixed.
I had to call them and book the car in again for the correct service.
That's two half-days off work.
And the wiper is still sh!t.
Yikes! Makes you wonder on long term reliability if they can't even get something as simple as a wiper blade properly.
Wowsers. They must have virtually no systems if it allows to book a time when they aren’t open.
Anyone know if they also jacked up the price of their Premium model recently? I dont remember it being that expensive.
I think they now have a premium and premium long range, so that might be what you are looking at?
I'm just here to enjoy reading about the moaners. Cry babies here fighting a losing battle against the New Market Leaders BYD
Ha the same I am enjoying BYD post
It’s the new Apple vs world 2.0.
I just wonder why Tesla doesn't do Vehicle to load. Practically with the asian owned EVs, they can all do vehicle to load to help power up your fridge during a power outage to keep your food from going off or even using it to keep your essential electric items going.
I thought it does? Don't you just plug an adapter into it?
Would love it if it did then I won’t even need battery for the house.
Tesla don't support Vehicle to load except only for cyber truck. Model 3 and Model Y owners which make up the majority of Telsa sales missing out on such a good feature in times of power loss.
Which happens how often again?
People talk about V2L like it's a necessity. Can't remember the last time I was without power let alone think
"Gee, I really could do with a cup of tea. Wish I could plug the kettle into the car"
@Lt Frank Drebin: Not too often would power outages occur unless you get hit during storm season. December 2023 Xmas evening, Brisbane, Gold Coast and surrounding areas were hit by a massive storm and a tornado made landfall. Took out over 11,000 power lines and many suburbs were out of power for many days. I recall people who had EVs were able to save their perishables via V2L but others scrambled to find ice bags which quickly became a hot commodity. Cyclone Alfred hit earlier this year and similar situation occured, multiple areas lost power from the strong winds. EVs really came in handy as an emergency power source with their V2L function. Not sure if this earthquake that just happened north of Brisbane will come with additional aftershocks, but power outages did occur again. Summer is coming again, and usually brings some wild events with it too
So they can sell powerwalls, and so the car batteries are used just for the car/last longer, not degraded by powering your house.
The BYD website looks shockingly similar to Tesla website 😅
The link when clicked asked me to choose the location. I was wondering if I landed on Tesla's website and the next page was like DejaVu
C'mon BYD..
same shopify template
Surprised the BYD ceo hasn’t changed his name to Elon
Wow 76 votes for a rrp on a crap trim. If Tesla was half price ppl will still call it crap and neg the crap put it. This place is woke heaven.
"ppl will still call it crap"
Maybe it is crap?
I mean the watered down essential trim has more equipment than most mid to top trims on legacy models, it's high time they get some competition to keep them honest
Does this have V2H?
it does only vehicle to load but not vehicle to house. You can still plug in your appliances to the car with a powerboard attachment if you have multiple items that need electricity
Oh okay. Well was looking for v2h actually as i want a way to dump daytime solar back into house (without a solar battery)
For V2H it needs a bidirectional EV charger and inverter that converts DC to AC, which currently not many available solutions in the market, Sigenergy batteries with DC EV charger can do V2H, but the EV charging module itself cost nearly $6, together with sigenergy batteries (eg. 16kwh) and inverter will easily cost $20k
@littlesoldier: I was quoted 7.5k on top of battery for the bidirectional charger. and this is the cheaper way to do it - if you want to do V2G under the new standard it's going to cost signficantly more to rewire your house than to get a sig
Yep.
Straight 2 Hell.
Essential model doesn't have heated and ventilated front seats
Next year there will be Sealion 6, 05 with 2000 km range coming!
https://carnewschina.com/2024/09/06/byd-sealion-05-dm-i-reve…
I had a chance to talk with a director of BYD Australia at the EV show, he said once they get rid of the current generation, in about 12 months they will start bringing new/next gen Sealion 05 dm-i with 2000km range! The current gen will depreciate to about 35k with some run on the them.
I wonder how they are achieving the 2000km range without an increase to the battery size or EV only range though, sure it's not about a bigger tank
City 2000km and highway 1500km…
The Tesla is undoubtedly the better vehicle, but the price difference is significant.
Can always buy used for around 40-45k now with 80% battery health.
Checked the channels for their other videos, and all but two are just pure anti-China click bait.
