Hi all, I am after a monitor for my 14 year old to connect his PS5.
I was about to purchase the AOC Q27G4 this week when the deal was posted but was told the refresh rate is an overkill.
Can I please get recommendations as I have no clue what to look for., preferable to be budget friendly under $300.
If i knew i wouldn't have asked. I'm not really computer literate hence the query. The AOC deal was sub 300 that's what i based it on
There's plenty of high refresh rate monitors for <$300.
Definitely, easily for 1080p and plenty of options at 1440p.
Do many of these deals support VRR? Would that be important for PS5?
Yes (majority are free/G-sync enabled)

I'm not in the market so I have no current recommendations, but from what I've been seeing, your budget is good and you could potentially see quite a few things under it. the AOC Q27G4 actually does seem like an excellent buy (for me at least on a PC), but I am unsure as to what would be best work for a PS5.

Also, back when I was in search of monitors, FB marketplace was a good bet for significantly cheaper pre-loved gear. Lately though, with new units dropping prices, it doesn't seem as good value ON THE FACE OF IT. However, with new getting cheaper, it's also become easier to compromise on lower prices.
Why not just a TV…?
Depends if he wants high refresh rate, won't find that on a sub $300 TV
Won't get 4K on the monitor either at this price point, so it depends which choice you make

Yeah 4K is out of range. I assume they were happy with 1440p based on the monitor in the OP
He is currently playing on TV but asked for monitor he thinks it's better to play on a smaller scale. He didn't go technical with me he thinks all monitors are the same lol
Slightly over budget but I PS5 game on this and it’s great.
Will take full advantage of any 4k games he may play, plus 120hz refresh rate.
Deal may have expired though, but they pop up frequently

I’d second that. 27” - tick, perfect size. 4K tick. 120hz tick. And a banger price. 100% jump on that, even at $380 it’s a great price. He’ll absolutely love a screen like that.
